The Chronicle - Althanas Day Is Here!
Welcome to the first annual Althanas Day! Althanas Day is a 24 hour post-a-thon and celebration of all things Althanas. Our goal for the day is to achieve 1000+ posts and receive over $500 in donations that will be used to purchase new Vbulletin wiki integration. The staff has worked tirelessly in preparation for the inaugural festival. Here's the final look at what they've cooked up for you:
New Releases:
- An Althanas Canon Submission System has been created. Now anyone can add to permanent Althanas canon! From stories impacting the whole world to the creation of new races, religions, and lands, if you can dream it up you can submit it for consideration.
- Archon's Vault, an IC tomb of knowledge and an OOC listing of completed threads, has been created to permanently chronicle threads as part of Althanas lore. To have your thread added, first you must submit it to the vault. Then other players will be asked to complete a short and long summary of your thread. This will help us to better catalogue the massive quantity of content on the site. It will also encourage others to read your work!
-The Boss Battles System has been re-tooled and will re-open for Althanas day with a greater variety of enemies for more players, and even bigger prizes. If you think you have what it takes, gather up a group of friends, and take on the strongest bosses Althanas has to offer.
- A new Mentor/Mentee System has been released. The system will partner new members with veteran members to help acclimate them to the site and improve their writing. Participating in the buddy system will net you a 1.5x EXP boost when you complete a thread with your mentor/mentee.
- Regional Timelines have been added to each region for a more immersive experience. Regional timelines are not static. You can submitting your own threads using the Althanas Canon Submission System and have your character's actions immortalized in the history of that region.
- Lornius, sometimes called the slum of Althanas, is finally be open to posting. All completed threads in Lornius receive a 1.5x EXP boost; however, the forum is reserved for characters at level 5 or above or for players who have done something extraordinary for Althanas. For example, donating $25 on Althanas Day will gain you instant access for one character.
- Finally, for those of you feeling nostalgic, a new theme called Tanthanas has been added to honor our original merhania roots. Be sure to check it out!
Special Events:
- With the release of the re-vamped Boss Battle System, Cards of Fate will be hosting two 12 hour boss battles. The rewards will be quite substantial, including a unique Althanas badge if you take down the boss. Keep your eyes peeled on the forums. Registration will go live for these two boss battles on Saturday September 5, 2015. If you miss registration, don't worry. You'll still be able to take on any non-GMed boss submitted when the system is released on Monday.
- Rayleigh and Philomel will be hosting six, yes six, Althanas Day themed Vignettes during the celebration. Winners will receive typical vignette rewards and a unique Althanas Day Vignette badge. The first vignette will be posted at 12 AM EST sharp to accommodate our Australian members. Subsequent vignettes will be posted every four hours.
- If you're looking to take a break from serious posting, Max Dirks will be hosting a return of the Golden Autumn Inn megathread. For those of you too young to remember, the original Golden Autumn Inn was an IC breadbasket wherein characters could meet and interact in low quality posts. Hop in and join on what is sure to be a hilarous time.
- Artifex Felicis will be hosting special auctions throughout the day.
- 1000 IC posts seems daunting, that's why we're including OOC threads in our numbers. We're cheating a little bit by having our operations moderators run a host of Althanas Day related Forum Games, including a brand new one word story. Be sure to participate so we can hit our 1000 post goal.
- Finally, we'll also have an all-day Skype audio chat open. For those of you too shy to say hi, the Althanas Chat will also be alive and cooking. You never know who might pop into the chat unexpectedly. A Storm Veritas, Thoracis and Aztar have already appeared, and rumor has it there will even be a Valentina Snow in attendance. You don't want to miss your chance to chat with legends new and old!
Special Rewards:
- All completed threads on Althanas Day (including previously started threads) will receive 3x bonus EXP. This includes all Boss Battles, vignettes, Citadel battles, quests, and any other completed thread. In addition, while normally there is a restriction on how much experience you can earn for completing a single thread, that restriction will be lifted for Althanas Day meaning you can theoretically earn multiple levels at a time. Don't miss out! Once the clock strikes midnight on September 8th, any thread not completed will revert to normal experience rewards
- Everyone's commitment to Althanas Day isn't just about quicker levels and earning bonus experience. There will be unique special participation badges available for those who take part in the many festivities. 50 OCC posts will net you the OOC badge and 15 IC posts will net you the IC badge.
