Althies General Information

The Althies are Althanas' (supposedly) annual year end awards. We took a year off, but now it's time to celebrate everything that was 2013. There is no Academy on Althanas and everyone can participate in the process. Here's how they work.

Below is a list of categories. Starting later today, I will open a nomination thread where each player can nominate up to three people for each category. After a week, nominations will be closed. The top three nominees (as in the three players with the most nominations) will be eligible for the award. Actual voting will last another week. I'll make a poll, so all you need to do is select who you think should win. Everyone can vote, but only once! I'll be watching you sneaks with hundreds of accounts to make sure you're not voting more than once. Winners will receive 500 GP and an Althy EXP bar icon. You can most certainly win multiple Althies.

OOC AWARDS - for the players

Most Missed Olbie - a non-active member you wish would come back
Friendliest Member - the nicest non-staffer on the site
Person you’d like to hang out with most IRL - who would you want to grab a drink with
Best Comeback - best member who returned to Althanas in 2013
Best Newbie - best member who joined Althanas in 2013
Best Quester - the best quest writer in 2013
Best Brawler - the best battle writer in 2013
Most Improved - who improved the most in 2013
Mr./Mrs. Althanas - the person who best exemplifies what Althanas

IC AWARDS - for the characters

Hottest IC Romance - which PCs were hot and dirty
Best IC Partners - the best PC duo on Althanas
Best IC Rivalry - the best rivalry PC on Althanas
Best IC Odd couple - the strangest IC paring
Best Quest - the best quest COMPLETED in 2013
Best Battle - the best battle COMPLETED in 2013
Best Creature - the best creature on Althanas
Most Original Character - only characters approved in 2013
Best Villain - who's the best character you love to hate
Best Hero/Heroine - who's the best character you love to love

MOD AWARDS - for the moderators

Best Judge - who was the best judge in 2013
Most helpful/friendly Mod - who was the most friendly moderator in 2013

ADMIN AWARDS - from the admins to the players

Player of the Year - given to the best contributor on Althanas
Moderator of the Year - given to the best moderator on Althanas

I just wanted to give a breakdown of my methodology for nominations:

If there were three clear leaders in a category, they were added to the voting.

If there were one or two clear leaders in a category with a tie for third with multiple votes, the ties were added to the voting. If the ties for third had only one vote, only the top two were added.

In the case of Best Battle, where each battle was only nominated once (except for Mirror Match Massacre), all battles were added (except the Misery Business v. Champions of Lornius battle that was incomplete) rather than giving Mirror Match Massacre the auto-win.

When you vote, please don't comment in the thread. Don't forget there is a vote on the second page for those in default view (right now it's Most Missed Oldbie).

Quick reminder to anyone who has yet to cast your votes: The Althies Polls will be closing tomorrow night at midnight!
