Updates are no longer required every level (but they are recommended so that you can add your new abilities). They may be done in between levels if you feel your character has undergone a significant change in their history, personality, appearance, if you want to change their abilities around, or any other reason you can think of.
Please keep in mind that new abilities may still only be added when you gain a level, unless they've been awarded to you as a spoil.
If you have a premade ability in your level 0 (or any previous level) profile and you level, it is not safe for you to act as if this power has increased unless you make a level update and include this power increase in it. Saying your character's sword will get stronger as your character levels does not automatically make it Mythril when you are level 2, because you need to make an update for your level 2 profile and have all new abilities and powered-up ones approved.
Example:
At level 0, Luc Kraus can create fireballs as big as his fist, but at level 1 he will be able to create fireballs as big as his head.
This doesn't mean that once Luc gets 2,000 EXP, he may create fireballs as big as his head, regardless of what his level 0 profile says. He must still create a level 1 profile and have it approved before he may use this power increase.
Also, when you make your update, please put all changes in your profile in colors like red! or blue! to make them easy to see. Check some of the archived updates for examples.
