Tristain pushed his way into the shop that he had chosen, his dark brown eyes scanning along the shelves. The store had a selection of woods available here, and he felt he would be able to get what he was looking for here. His fingers ran along the display pieces, checking them with practiced fingers for imperfections. He could have made what he was looking for himself given time, but - but he felt that his friend deserved better than that, better than a rough, workable solution. No, she deserved something properly and well made.

"Hello, is there a crafter in the store? I am looking to make a purchase." His rough voice called out into the shop as he looked around. His eyes settled on a few lengths of wood over against one wall, and a soft grin split his lips. Yes, he would be able to get something like what he was looking for here.

(HI there! Looking to purchase a cane, hopefully made out of cyper with steel on the end, with an enchantment to be able to repair itself if damaged.)

There was a small scuffling as an old man with a small pair of spectacles on the end of his nose moved out from behind a curtain. That same wave of fabric had been hiding a small shadowy doorway beyond the storeback, from which mysterious whispers could be heard. The older man peered at Tristain through his glass before coming right up to the worktop and bumping his rounded stomach to the edge.

"Do not mind them," he grunted, waving a hand to the doorway behind him. "They are just hungry. Now? You say you require something?"

He saw Tristain eyeing up a rather intriguing chess piece that was labelled simply, 'Strong,' before he went on.

"You seem like the sort who needs a cane. Cypher with steel?" His eyes glittered slightly mysteriously, but mostly wise.

"How does 450 gold sound?"

Tristain blinked a few times and folded his arm over his chest as he studied the man. His back twinge at the motion but he soldiered through it, not letting the pain show on his face.

"I am indeed in need of a cane. Someone close to me is blind. I need something for her to help find her way around, and defend herself if need be. So long, thin but strong. Cypher with steel..." Bendy, strong sturdy. He nodded firmly. "Yes. Yes I believe that will suffice nicely for what I need. I have the money on hand for that, or can return at a later point if necessary."

The voices from within the darkened room muttered a single coherent noise and the bespectacled man paused a moment before nodding slowly. He had eyes on the warrior before him, and a small smile came to his face as he looked.

"Certainly they will meet your requirements, if that is what you desire. Helping friends, hell," he waved a hand behind him. "They help me."

"Anyway," he beamed. "Because of your .. good nature, I will offer you a discount. 405 gold on the table, right now and I'll let you walk away with the fine thing."

Tristain hummed for a moment, drumming his fingers against arms as he thought about it. While a little pricey, it was within his budget. And she needed it, it would help make her feel more independent. He sighed, then nodded with a slight quirk to his lips.

"Very well. You have yourself a deal, craftsman." he reached to to his pouch and counted out the gold coins, separating them into smaller stacks of twenty coins each, with five in their own small pile. Then his arms dropped to his sides and he clenched his jaw as another wave of fiery pain rolled up his back.

Sniffing slightly the old man nodded as he watched Tristain count out the coins. His nose bobbed as he followed the line from them out of the pouch and onto the counter. Lips pursed he took a moment before he grunted and turned around.

He headed into the back, where the sounds and voices grew louder. They became murmurs, raucous and bizarre. They said things no one should really have to hear in polite society, and only quietened when the man came back.

He held a finely polished cane, with an ornate carved end. "Here," he held out the item. "Self repairing as requested."
