Hello!

So every so often I come across some great writing resources. I thought it might be good to collate them together and have a good set of links here. I will add to it over time and if you have any suggestions for good websites post below!

Literary Devices and Terms -
A great compromised list of all sorts of literary terms and devices, along with examples that can help you to try out different ways of writing, or help improve your writing.

Dictionary.com -
Arguably the best online dictionary and theasaurus that there is online. Great resource as it has the origins of words too as well as things such as "word of the day".

Behind the Name -
An amazing database of names and their origins, from across all languages, nations etc. You can search by meaning, popularity etc (just select the cog symbol beside the search box. They have also made a behind the surname page.

Parf Edhellen -
Not quite in the same spirit as the others, this is the most filled dictionary of Tolkein related languages that I know of. It has Quenya and Sindarin elvish, some dwarvish and even black speech. For those wanting to use elvish and find names, this is an awesome resource.

I was disappointed to discover that Google Translate does not work with Elvish.

Springhole and Mythcreants are both good if you want some fresh advice on how to execute good character portrayal and plausible world building. They do other things too, but that's mainly what I read them for. Mythcreants also has podcasts for those who like that format!

Behind the Name is such a wonderful site! The single best name site online in my opinion. I've used it tons of times already xD

A translation of human names to elvish is good, but I'm so penickity over meaning and origin that I use parf edhellen for a lot.
