    Arsenal Upgrade.

Note: I want to rp this thread out fully if someone will help me out, thanks.

But first: I need a price check on upgrading Two Steel Masterwork Daggers to Delyn and POSSIBLY placing an Enchantment or two on my Weapons. Thank you very much in advanced. If the Delyn upgrade is too expensive atm, I will purchase something cheaper. Thanks in advanced for your assistance.

    Alrighty, first thing's first -

It will cost you a total of 442 GP to upgrade both daggers to Delyn. As for the price of enchantments, that depends entirely on what sort of enchantment you would like placed on them.

(I don't mind going first buddy, here goes. By the way, my daggers I've had since level 0. I just forgot to add them in my level 3 update and will be certain to link them for level 4. Thanks for understanding! )

Elthas wandered through The Bazaar district of Radasanth. Most times, he observed the various flow of business and commerce. Other times, he performed various errands for The Trading Company. Today though, he was there for a very specific reason. One reason that was something that eventually ALL Althanian warriors and magi experienced sooner or later. The desire to become more powerful. Elthas was little more than a duelist, a rogue, he fancied himself skilled with his daggers. But his venture in The Althanas Leagues showed how limited his skill truly was. He had learned something. He had learned weakness and humility, and tasted bitter defeat. He would be certain to be prepared the next time he entered a gathering of that nature.

It was with a determined look that he entered the armory area. He walked towards the nearest attendant.

"I'd like to upgrade my daggers." Elthas said plainly and looked at the attendant very seriously.

Fingol looked up from his work as the man approached him, the grizzled dwarf smith tucking his braided beard over his shoulder in his habitual way. Looking the man over, he laid aside the tiny hammer and awl he was working with, inscribing protective runes into the haft of a warhammer, appraising the customer in an instant.

The man standing before him was an elf, but Fingol had never had any enmity towards the dainty race. Nor any other race for that matter. All he cared about was the craft. And the gold it brought him.

"Well, I'm sure I can help you with that, sir. If you'd be so kind?" he held out his hands for the blades, waiting patiently for the customer to pass them over for inspection. The elf did so, and Fingol nodded his thanks. His veteran eye roamed over the daggers, picking out every fault and mar on the steel, every single point the original smith's hammer had been a little too heavy, or not quite hitting the right angle. He silently humphed and huffed to himself. Some people just had no respect in their work.

"Well, we can accommodate your needs quite easily sir. Might I ask what you had in mind?"

"Upgrades, sir." Elthas responded in a polite fashion. He watched the dwarf observing his gear and the interest immediately settled in. Something of a blacksmith himself, Elthas was eager to learn all he could about the art. "Would like both of them upgraded to Delyn and retain their masterwork quality. Further, I'd like to add a poison effect to the blades if at all possible. Doesn't have to be devastating, but able to do the job." Elthas stood in relaxed fashion. "Plenty of coin in it for you if you can keep my people's aesthetic designs, and possibly enhance the visual appeal of the weapons." Elthas was an Elf through and through, and he didn't want to loose sight of the culture of his people. He was ready to pay for the services that the dwarf would provide him, and he wondered just how effective he would become after the fact.

"Let me know if the upgrades to my gear is possible." Elthas said. "I want the blades to be as durable as possible within the confines of delyn ore manufacturing and construction." Elthas said. "Keep them as lightweight as possible please, I can pay extra for that if need be." Elthas was particularly proud of his blades, as they were keepsakes heirlooms from his people. Further, they were the weapons he has used since the beginning of his career and they have served their purposes well. It was time to alter the properties of his friends and companions, and make them better. Elthas continued to stand in his relaxed fashion, he was well dressed. His fancy, fedora style hat was tipped at a forty five degree angle as well. He dressed to the current and modern Radasanthian fashions. He followed trends, but added his own people's flare to his dress and attire. Elthas was someone who CARED about his appearance. Every minor detail was carefully placed on him to represent image.

A representation of a philosophical idea, or perhaps something deeper. Elthas's attire was not something purely for show. It was something that represented who and WHAT he was. A businessman, someone with tremendous guile and cunning who was growing more skilled as he became aware of his purpose in life. He stood in such a way that he could rub his chin as he watched the dwarf worked. "Do you mind if I stay and watch you work, fellow smith?" There was a lot to be learned about the blacksmith's art, and Elthas did not want to miss a good chance to learn. So he stood there, observing everything that the fellow did to his most trusted companions.

"Aye, I see no reason why not," Fingol nodded amicably, gesturing the elf to take up a stool on the other side of the anvil.

"As for your upgrades, I don't do much work with poison and such-like, but I can point you to someone better suited to that once I'm done with your blades here."

For a short while he chatted with the elf, as he took measurements, worked out quantities of ore required, painstakingly picked out the tools he would need and returned to his post. Keeping the elven aesthetic of the blades wasn't difficult - a smith in the cosmopolitan heart of Corone had to be fluent in many different styles and cultures if he truly wanted an edge over the competition. But, for Fingol, that took a backseat compared to the simple pleasure he took in shaping metal to his will; in taking the exact same materials, but turning out a dwarven seax with one, and an elven falchion with the other. It was the craft that thrilled him, not the money so much.

In the end it was still several hours of hard work, but eventually the daggers were done. They looked almost identical to what they had been, apart from a few more artistic flourishes here and there.

Leaning over a worktable, a set of magnifying lenses clipped to a leather band round his brow, hanging over his eye, the dwarf craftsman finished one sweeping curve with the awl in his callused, gnarled hand. He took a step back, running a hand through his soot-encrusted beard as he cast a critical gaze over the work. Foe a long moment, he said nothing, then finally, with a broad grin, he lifted the blades and presented them - hilt first - to their owner.

"There you are, master elf. Blades worthy of a man of your stature. I hope you find the little touches to your liking. I studied a few years under some wandering Raiaeran smiths, and picked up a thing or two." He tapped a broad finger against the side of his equally broad nose. "That's our little secret, mind," he chuckled with a conspirational wink.

"Now, as for the magics you're looking for, I haven't been down that way in a while, but word was there was a blind man down there could cast wonders over any item you place before him. If I were you, friend, that's where I'd take my coin."

The dwarf cleared his throat softly, obviously trying not to appear rude.

"And as for the matter of coin.."

Elthas watched the master dwarf work.

It was an enlightening experience, he always favored the master craft technique of the dwarven smith. Elthas learned quite a bit from the impromptu lesson. His eyes narrowed as he observed the blade's upgrade procedure. In time, Elthas would learn to maintain and upgrade his own equipment. However, he needed to learn from practical knowledge and experience. He studied hard as he watched the dwarf work. His face had a content expression despite the narrowed work. The dwarf took some liberties with elven aesthetics, but the results were breathtaking.

When he saw the finished product, he nodded towards the dwarf. In the time that the master blacksmith worked, Elthas had prepared a small pouch with an adequate amount of coin in correspondence to the arrangement. He put together 500 gold coins of his own personal stock to pay the master smith. He wanted to tip the dwarf handsomely for doing a good job on the equipment upgrades. He would see someone else about the enchantments and augments he had in mind. He took the weapons by their handles, and attached the scabbards at his belt.

He then handed the coin to the master dwarf.

"500 gold pieces." Elthas explained. "I added more for a job well done. Next time I need more enhancements, I'll come see you first, and recommend business to my allies." Of course, Elthas was vaguely speaking about his membership into The Trading Company. He was an officer there. But he knew the blacksmith would accept business from all sources, Elthas continued. "I'll need directions for where I can go to get my augments if at all possible." Elthas was referring to the enchantments he wanted. He would pay the necessary people for a job well done.

(Note: Paid Dwarf 500 Gold pieces for initial dagger upgrades, gonna pay for the enchantments next when they are good and done. It's always a pleasure working with you Aure.)

Fingol looked at the hefty pouch in the elf's hands, accepting it with a wide grin under his dark, sooty beard.

"Very kind of you, sir. Very kind," he nodded, accepting the payment and storing it in one of his many belt pouches underneath the heavy leather apron he wore. His eyes glittered with the promise of more business. The man looked like he could afford the generous tip, no doubt, but it was always much welcomed to see someone with genuine appreciation of his work.

The dwarf rubbed a soot-stained forearm over his sweaty brow, streaking black across his ruddy skin as he took out a sheet of parchment and an ink-pen - a handy little invention he had procured from Alerar a few years ago. Popping the cap off between his teeth, shining a pearly contrast against his blackened features, the smith drew a simple, but accurate map leading down to the enchanter. it took a minute for the ink to dry, but Fingol eventually passed the sheet to the elf, once again thanking him for the business.

    ***

A few streets away, sitting on a simple wooden stool behind an equally simple stall, Verif craned his neck, hearing someone approach.

A dark cloth covered his eyes, ruined by fire during his time as a mage in service of the Empire, and the rest of him looked to be.. well, grubby was the kindest way to describe the old man. His hands were wrapped in bandages, leading up his arms under the sleeves of his rather threadbare tunic. Business wasn't common, mainly because people took one look at the blind old veteran and assumed his services were just as poor.

    They were wrong.

The footsteps drew closer, and Verif craned his neck, turning his ear to the sound.

"What say you, friend. Might Verif offer you his services for a pretty penny?" he called out, his voice far stronger than his frail frame would suggest.

Elthas spotted the old man, taking him for a veteran by the looks of his attire and scars.

Elthas was not one to judge by appearances, he was one who honoured the old alliances.

A Hero amongst his kind of some regards, Elthas had once saved a high-ranking Syndicate officer and had a temporary stint with them. He looked at the old man and saw something more...potential. Just as the master dwarf had carved him his new daggers, he saw in the seemingly frail old man...the promise of power. And that alone was profit. Elthas was a tycoon at that point in his life, he worked for The Trading Company and was looking to better defend their assets. Including his own best interests. Elthas had an enemy he needed to hunt and that enemy would soon fall by his hands ALONE. After that he would turn that bastard, Xu, in to the Corone authorities. He looked at the old man, there was something about Verif that reminded Elthas of another old man. Seth Terrentius, brother to the man named Theo Terrentius. Together, they ran the Syndicate chapterhouse near Radasanth proper. Elthas could not help but think fondly of Seth Terrentius despite the dirty dealings in the end. Saving Seth made Elthas the man he was today.

Elthas looked at Verif giving him a studious glance.

The man was a puzzle, an engima, and Elthas wanted to solve it.

"Fingol referred me to you, good sir." Elthas said. He had a name for Verif that Fingol had given him in the map. That is what Elthas liked the most...efficiency. "I am wondering if you could weave a few enchants on these." Elthas removed the twin scabbards that housed Fingol's masterwork in them. "Fingol made the upgrades and you came highly recommended." Elthas said. He was a businessman first, and only fools were blinded by prejudices. Elthas handed Verif the daggers. Then he began. "I am looking for several key enchants. One to make the weapons as lightweight as possible, and if my gold is welcome here, another to cause a paralysis effect on those who would attempt to harm The Trading Company's assets." Elthas said. "Depending on price, we can negotiate a good deal from there. I've got nice coin to spend." Elthas said. He was dressed in fancy attire, and was wondering what the business folk thought of the way he dressed. Pompous? Loud? Perhaps. Elthas was making a statement on Althanas, and he wanted to prove that gentleman warriors could go far again in this very dark age.

He represented the promise of a more civilized age.
