    Tubal L. Vogate

    Name: Tubal Largan Vogate
    Race: Human
    Age: 33
    Height: 5'10"
    Weight: ~180
Description: Broad and well built, Tubal’s taught musculature formed by years of manual labor. His even, dark complexion only marked by a grey scar reaching across his left forearm, a knotted testimony of a man who knows the cost of battle. Firm jawed, limned with well-trimmed facial hair and tight rows of dark brown hair drop just to his neck; his blue eyes have a reserved kindness about them. The square of his shoulders is permanently tensed, as if conscious of every movement and measures them accordingly. That same measured tendency applies to his speech as well. Every word in his estimation carries weight, so they come easily but slow manner.

When at ease, he dresses comfortably in a loose fitting white tunic of silk, usually tied round the waist with a red sash and leather sandals. Tubal’s regularly seen in a woolen sand brown tunic and brown breeches that are neatly bloused into black leather boots of soft soled leather. What they lack in protection they give in allowing him sure footedness even in the most precarious of surfaces, and allow him to walk in near silence.

For long travel, Tubal relies on a small wooden cart and an ornery mule named Elmahur. For travel that will only take him a couple of days, he has no problem using his feet and an oiled satchel packed accordingly.

He may also wear an unadorned leather belt with a practical brass buckle, holding an iron saber with a plain hilt on his hip for protection. If so inclined, he will also wear a woven leather cuirrass over his regular tunic, providing extra protection while not hindering his power.

Among his most prized possessions is his trunk that houses his working tools. Large and well built, it has a multitude of drawers and trays for everything he needs in his profession as a stonemason.

Personality: Cautious but curious, he is fiercely adamant about being at the side of those he may call friends, though his closely guarded nature means he warms up slowly to others. Keen, practical intelligence marks his speech, with careful thought slowing his words. When around others, he tends to have an aloof, reserved quality, often standing with his hands clasped together, or behind his back. Very aware of his inexperience within the wider world, Tubal backs his new experience with old to determine the best action to take, and attempts to be as fair as possible in all dealings.
One may find that he takes the middle ground that the world is not black and white, and a certain compassion guides him in his day-to-day approach. When he does press an issue, it is often with sullen conviction that is difficult to waiver.

History: Born and raised west of the mountains of Zeileia in a little town notable for its tight-knit community of stonemasons, his parents are quite alive and well – having reached high positions within the small but respected group. Following in their steps, Tubal went to work at an early age in the quarries, learning the closely kept secrets of the trade. He proved to be highly proficient in the task, and took the teachings given him in both the practical and mystical aspects of his chosen profession, eventually raising up to the position of master mason. Tubal served for three years in the guard mount of his guild house, skirmishing with raiders and beasts that harried the territory. For the last couple of years, Tubal has taken on the role of tutor and appraiser of the finished stone that came out of the quarry workshops.

    Skills:

Masonry: Tubal's life has been dedicated to the trade and craft of working stone into nearly perfect forms for the purpose of building.

Adeptness: Eager for knowledge, with a taste for the esoteric in particular. Tubal can learn quickly, with an even love of both philosophical and practical applications.

Swordsmanship: Training and experience gained from his time in the town guard has helped him become capable with the sword.

Fishing: With a net or a rod, Tubal is an avid fisher. Often doing so whether during travel or when enjoying downtime.

    Abilities:

Strongarm: Owing to his years of strenuous labor, he is used to exerting himself. At times, especially under duress, he may push his strength to its limits, allowing him to briefly exert more physical power than a man twice his size.

Sunder: Knowledge of geology, stonework and architecture comes in handy when you want something to crumble. Quickly. Using whatever tools available, Tubal can bring down tunnels, walls, or even small buildings with well placed strikes or proper leverage. Due to the strain on his body, Tubal may only do this one every two days or so. Any frequent use may damage tissue or bone.

Keening: As a Tyler, or town guardsman, he learned how best to use his blade to probe armor for weakness. A flurry of quick, concise strikes with the tip of a sword tests armor for breaks in their protection. The combination of agility and concentration is taxing. For a time after such an attack routine situational awareness will suffer. Since tunnel vision is a side effect, using the technique often is not advised. Once per fight, at the risk of mental degredation for a period of a few hours, and physical injury from the lack of situational awareness.

    Equipment:

Iron Sword: A simply designed saber, the preferred weapon of the Tylers. What it lacks in elegance it makes up for in just being a reliable, sturdy blade.

Working tools: A mallet, pickaxe, plumb, square, compass and trowel. All the tools necessary for Tubal to ply his trade, kept in a wooden trunk that costs more than a a few months of his wages.

Satchel: Whether travelling the long road by foot, or going out for a day's labor, Tubal's oiled leather pack is ready. Packed with what one would expect. Eating utensils, cord, a sleep roll, a change of clothing and a helpful little knife.

Cart: A beat up old two wheel cart. Large enough to carry a small load of stone or whatever else someone would be can strap onto it. Be wary of the loose hub.

Ornery Donkey: Elmahur is a retired quarry donkey well past her prime. If anyone told her that, she did not listen. Unafraid to voice her opinion in ways only donkeys or maybe drunk goblins can understand. Tubal does not command more than compromise with her to pull his cart. When not pulling the cart or convinced to do anything otherwise, she can be found in the local stables. Probably being an ass.

Leather Cuirrass: Another item gained from his work as a Tyler. Woven strips of leather form the protective piece. Light and breathable, easy to repair.

    Hi!

And welcome to the site! Your character looks really interesting!

Overall your abilities look like something we can definitely work with. Just a quick couple of questions:

    1) Is there any limit to how many times a day Tubal can use his ability 'Sunder'?
    2) Same question for 'Keening'?

Don't worry there isn't! It just helps me to determined the Power Level of each of your abilities.

Also as a new character you'll be getting 200 Gold and 5 AP to start.

Thank you for getting back to me! As for the abilities:

Since performing Sunder is actually a feat that years muscle, it takes him some time to recover. So, perhaps once every two days in universe? If used any sooner, it has the potential to tear tendons and cause long lasting damage.

Keening is different, in that it relies on speed and concentration to be executes properly. Using it too often makes him ineffective in combat. Perhaps as a guideline, once per day.

Your guidance is definitely appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you for getting back to me!

One or two uses for each should be fine. If you can just edits your uses into the first post, that would be great.

Do you have any questions about Althanas and how it works?

Made the changes! My biggest question is, how long can solo quests be? I'm going to solo Tubal from the outlands to Stonevale, Corone. I don't want to bog someone down for judging it, though.

Solos and threads can be as long as you want them to be. We do have No Judgements, which are a standard amount given that doesn't require the judge to comment or read much more than a brief scan. Workshops are similar, but they get peer reviewed by the community. Any other judgements will get you commentary by a trained judge who can help remark where you could be stronger.

So yes as long as you want. Standard guidelines for the minimum length are about 10 posts or 5k words. But never worry about writing too much! My solos are always huge

Anything else I can help you with.
