How Did You Find Althanas?

Because it's been a few months since this thread has popped up, with Winter Break either here or coming shortly it's a good time to ask the question:

How did you find Althanas? Was it through a Google search (if so, what were you looking for), a friend who came to this site, are you an original (i.e. were here when it started), some other means?

If you're reading this please do answer - this information is vital in determining what the best methods are in promoting and advertising the community.

I found it through AllRPG which used to be a sister site and never went back.

Google lead me to the Die Roller's Top 50, then I came here. It stood out as the only place that didn't require me to headbutt a fricking gong to play a properly Pointy Hat-wearing Wizard. D:

Started roleplaying on StarCraft, a long, long time ago. A friend invited me here when we were still at Tanthanas.

I made a few characters, but never really got off the ground until .com got fully underway.

And I've been on and off the past few years, since then.

I don't know if anyone remembers that guy, but I heard him talking about it in passing with another friend of ours. I was home, bored, and a little down about high school drama when I remembered hearing about it and looked it up. I wrote up Tshael's registration profile and the rest is history.

Heard about an rp site on Allrpg from somebody on PGNx (a video game forum site), went to allrpg, clicked the link to Althanas and the rest is history. This was about 3 and a half years ago.

Followed a link from AllRPG many, many years ago. I was still in my early high school days then. I remember my first character was a shape-shifter named Cyrus (not Cyrus the Virus, just "Cyrus").

I think I revived him after the first crash, and my Gharm character, but then never again.

I have (or more hopefully "had") a tendency to go inactive for year(s) at a time. I always seem to find my way back though.

I think I fought you with one of my old characters... one that never made it off the ground... A young wizard named Silvermane, who fought you in the Citadel while the ring slowly closed in around them? Does that sound familiar? I just temember fighting a shape-shifter named Cyrus who turned into a bear once.

I first came to the site when a friend of mine from highschool referred me, his character was named ObBi, if anyone remembers him. This was pushing on 5 years ago now. My frist character was a demon, and my profile name was mistakenly named 'Michael' because that's my own name and what I thought we were supposed to put. After him I came along with The Great Guardian, and after althanas.com came along I introduced Silvermane who lasted for half of one battle, as mentioned above.

I took a year off and now play as Solomon. The only character I've been able to get past the first level... and even then it's taken me many years!

I heard about Althanas about three or so years back from a friend. I looked it over, but wasn't into the whole structured world. I also was immensely overwhelmed with the length of the posts (I was struggling to get to two paragraphs back then and thought that was even long).

I journeyed back after the latest transition and tried registering a character at the latest launch. She got butchered by the ROG and I left because she was unusable. Finally my main RP site reached the proverbial point of no return. Too many things changed, and I remembered this place. I registered another character and I've been here steady since.

Santh, it was the fish guy, in all the silk, with the coral sword. That was Shiny X, I remember that well.

I google searched, "Free RPGs". Ironically. Althanas was on the 23rd page. This was a month after Althy started on AllRPG. Brownthanas for the win!


Oh and btw, I did a thread with Shiny X, and he was awesome. I LOVED his character.

Back in the day, it was -- no joke -- a google search for "roleplaying game". Althanas was one of the first 10 to top up and so I checked it out. Thankfully, I was hooked ever since. :-)

I was googling "Akatriel" for a story on another forum and I got Alearto Akatriel's profile on Althanas. And so I checked it out, bookmarked it, and then joined a few days later!

Found it through Caden-aka Sh33p-'s livejournal. He'd written something up for that writing contest, I followed the link out of boredom, and *poof* there I was.

Also, once I saw Alerar I had to make Bevel. A friend of mine is way into the Drizzt books, so Bevel was made partly to annoy him.

I found Althanas through Abbie, the hottest red-head this site has ever seen. Me and her used to write on GUA, then she created Seregon and I RPed there for a little. I followed a link in one of her sigs and boom! I was in Althanas. I fell in love and the rest is history....

Its funny how I found this place.

I was actually researching a user from a greek mythology discussion-forum, and there was a solid match through google for her username into her profile.

After reading it I was pretty curious and I began to look around the FAQS and It pretty much told me what Althanas was about, my hands did the rest.

I found it while browsing allrpg.com in a search for video game info. I think it was the old IV when I started... or maybe tan. Either way, many years ago.

A couple of years back, I used to frequent a forum called Suikocastle, which is closed now. They had an rp-ing section there, and somebody recommended Althanas to me, as an extension for my rp-ing.

Have never turned back, hands down the homiest rp-ing site I've come across. I've been around for a while, never really sticking to one character.

My rping started with my friend Kyle at school. (aka Ranger, Osato, Dirge, etc.) Back then, we verbally roleplayed as DBZ characters (lol), then he told me about this roleplaying writing forum he had found called Althanas. I joined up at the age of 12 during the days of Tanthanas. I'm now almost 19 years old and have been playing on and off over the years. I've made at least 50 characters, but the Writer is the only one that has stuck.

There was once a message on allrpg.com that I should come and visit this place. Curious as I was, I clicked on the available link and ended up here. Overwhelmed by the tons of information, things didn't appeal to me at first, but eventually I did come back to give Althanas a try (and I'm glad that I did).
