((I'm requesting Arty, he knows why))

Winter was coming, her second winter on Althanas. Karuka didn't particularly feel like dealing with the cold in the same old tattered thing that had kept her just slightly frozen in the Corone winter; she wanted something thicker, warmer, more resilient. She wanted something that would protect against both weather and chill. Maybe an oilskin with a thick woolen lining. Then she could toss her battered cloak and canvas poncho, and have that much more space in her old bag.

Maybe a new, bigger bag wouldn't be remiss, as well...her old leather one was falling apart on her. With a new bag and a new cloak, most of what she'd come to Althanas with would be swept away to the realm of memories, and she'd only retain three things from Earth, for their sentimental, not useful, value. Three light things.

She stepped into such a shop as sold basic traveler's gear, picking up a sturdy leather bag that was bigger than her old one and had more pockets, and then started looking for a proper cloak.

Kate was whistling happily to herself as she polished some of the shields in Lionel's shop. The cat merchant was away for the day, off on some errand or another, and had left the smaller cat girl in charge. Needless to say, she was ecstatic about the responsibility, jumping into it and opening the shop late so she could sleep in. The brisk air was beginning to worm its way into the shop as Kate handled their customers however, and the door opened and closed.

The cat girl was dressed warmly, a nice thick green sweater and a small hat that rested on her ears. She was only really polishing to keep up appearances. The only was to get Lionel's shop any cleaner than it was already involved demons and the payment of souls. Her latest customer seemed a little familiar, but there were also a lot of people that went in and out of the store.

"Hello!" the smaller girl cried out cheerfully. She grinned at the customer happily. "Do you need a hand finding anything?"

"I think I just found it," the red-head replied, pulling down a cloak that seemed to meet her needs.

The oilskin felt smooth and supple in her hands, as well as a little slick. Perfect. Inside it was lined with thick, warm fleece that would keep her warm in all but the most bitter cold. Again, perfect. She tried it on, and was pleased to see that there were only a couple of inches between where the cloak ended and the wooden floor, and the cloak hung so that it stayed closed without much effort.

Taking the cloak off, she took it and her new bag to the counter. "Just these."

"No problem!" Kate said. She ran the prices up, adding them correctly. "That will be 15 gold please! thank you!"

And with that, the red haired lass left, and Kate went back to her procrastination. There was someone bright about helping someone and giving a discount to someone who needs it.
