Names
Arawn ~ Hikari no Ashigaru ~ Legol Darkweaver

Race
Dark Elven Vampire

Age
155

Height
6’10’’

Weight
160 lbs

Appearance

The white warrior has the basic appearance of most elves regarding body proportion and muscular distribution. Yet, he is quite taller than the norm for Althanas’ native elven peoples. His most distinguishing feature, however, is a skin as pale as snow, paler indeed than that of even most nosferatu, completely white as it is. His hair and eyes also make him quite noticeable, both utterly black. People have often expressed their uneasiness at staring into his eyes, the dark voids revealing nothing of the battle of wills behind them. He enjoys this effect on others, a defining detachment from multitudes. His fangs now protrude noticeably as a consequence of his vampiric taint. The extent of their elongation depends on how much control he keeps over his bloodlust.

Another distinguishing feature about this being’s appearance is his cloak. This cloak is as black as his hair but for mysterious runes inscribed all over it in the deepest blue. The elf keeps his two daggers sheathed at his waist when he isn’t using them and keeps his bow hidden under the aforementioned cloak. His bladed spiked chain hangs in loops from the right side of his waist. More often than not, he is to be found wearing a thin leather shirt that provides little protection but from wind. From his waist to the top of his knees, he has leather pants strapped in belts. His arms are guarded by straps from his elbows to his wrists. The vampiric drow has leather boots as well that come up to the base of his knees. They now have steel shin guards and four rings of iron spikes each to make them more intimidating and lethal.

Personalities

Arawn – Such is the personification of the dark elf’s vampiric taint. This persona is characterized by a notable lack of morality. Arawn places little to no value on the wellbeing and happiness of anyone other than himself. He now has control over the white warrior’s body for most of the time, relinquishing power over Hikari; and subsequently Legol; only when exposed to intensely bright light such as the sun’s. Arawn possesses only flashes of memories to account for what occurs when the other personalities are in control and is the only essence capable of awakening the white warrior’s vampiric abilities, making it arduous for him to utilize Hikari no Ashigaru’s unique powers over light.

Hikari no Ashigaru – This power-hungry and vicious killer is a spirit born of the Tashronde’s cursed scroll. He first took over Legol’s body the moment it was imbued with the power to control and absorb light by his father. Though quite powerful and ruthless, he does at least possess some level of restraint, not being one to kill defenseless beings and the like. He loses power over the white warrior’s body when he is deprived of direct light or is overcome with bloodlust. Hikari always recalls what transpires when Arawn takes over and is often ashamed of what uses the vampire inside him puts his powers to.

Legol Darkweaver – The white warrior was originally born an unimpressive dark elf of Tarn by this name. Legol was never known to be an aggressive individual, not even in his mandatory Tarnean training against the Lokshen, sworn foes of the land’s drow. He only ever excelled in his abilities as a hunter. His circumstance at present is a tragic irony. The once mild-mannered dark elf’s original soul now has control over his rightful body only at sporadic and short-lived periods following instances of unconsciousness of either of the two other life forces, but is ever forced to bear unwilling witness to their actions. Legol has no extraordinary powers to his name.

Possessions

Jinkourai Ittou – Such is Hikari no Ashigaru’s favorite weapon, a falchion whose blade is made of black diamond. It usually possesses a light glow of moonlight. This light often becomes brilliant when the elf is overcome with any kind of emotion and diminishes to almost nothing when he wishes to keep its power concealed. Through a deep bond with the weapon, the white warrior may now vanish it in a wisp of light and recall it when the need arises.

Curved Daggers – Arawn’s favorite weapons are dual daggers of mythril. Their blades are only 5 inches long, but very sharp. He has modified them so that their hilts now curve upwards like bats’ wings and the blades now curve as well in order to cause more pain as they tear into the flesh of enemies.

Longbow – Legol’s first and favorite weapon, this longbow is made of eklan and stands six feet tall. It came with a quiver of arrows now possessing delyn tips.

Bladed Spiked Chain – This weapon consists of a curved sickle attached to the end of a twenty-foot length of spiked chain the white warrior usually has hanging at his waist. The whole device is made of titanium.

Kyorl Captain’s Saber – Upon joining the royal army of Alerar, Hikari was granted this saber as a sign of standing in the strict social bounds of the dark elven land. It is presently cast in mythril. Though he has defected from the Kyorl’s ranks, he still keeps this sword as a memento.

Rapier – A simple rapier made of delyn Hikari no Ashigaru stole from his torturer in Castle Honroy.

Cloak – The warrior’s cloak presents some protection from bladed attacks now that it is made of vlince, but is rather a manner of concealing the elf’s arsenal. It possesses deep blue runes upon it that are linked to the white warrior’s transformation. They can be deciphered either when Hikari overcomes a great difficulty or when a powerful foe uses an ability similar to the rune’s in his presence. After a short visit to the Bazaar, it was granted the power to repel light enchantments.

Ring of Five Keys – The only other item Hikari took from Castle Honroy was a ring of five keys. The warrior supposes these keys open chambers within said castle.

Ter-Thok Fryomatic 5000 – This artifact was given to Hikari by a rather small demon. It was a gift for the Day of the Open Hand, which was organized by Ithermoss Hec’Bahal. The trinket comprises a box with a severed gipsy hand within. Hikari was informed that if he were to insert a knife and a potato into the box along with the hand, it could produce fries.

Scrolls of Tashronde - In his exhausting journey, Hikari has been searching for the Scrolls of Tashronde. He has so far found only the Scroll of Fire. Any scrolls he may find will not be used and most definitely not sold.

General Skills

These abilities and proficiencies are common to all of the combating wills within the dark elven body. This means that any among Legol Darkweaver, Hikari no Ashigaru and Arawn can make use of them with as much dexterity as either of their rivals. This is the only skill set Legol has to account for as his own when in control of his body. They range from racial bonuses to learned abilities.

Superior Senses – As an elf and vampire, the white warrior is able to attack his enemies with great stealth and cunning. He possesses great hearing, allowing him to shoot arrows at some enemies without necessarily seeing them. He has also grown prone to attacking enemies far off with his longbow. This has improved his already considerable sight range.

Mind Block – Through experience with mind-tampering creatures, the dark elf is now able to close his mind to outside invasion. He is, however, completely unable to either send telepathic messages or assault others’ minds.

Weapon Mastery – Firstly, the Tarnean drow is most proficient in the use of swords, particularly falchions; both one-handed and two-handed. He is strategically lethal with daggers and has come to use his prized blades as throwing knives. He is an excellent marksman with his longbow as well. The white warrior can adequately do battle with most any common weapon. He is as yet ignorant in the usage of so-called ‘tech weapons’.

Light Magic

The abilities listed here are a direct consequence of Hikari’s possession of Legol’s body at the time he was cursed by the Scroll of Light. Due to their nature, Arawn cannot use any of these abilities that may expel light from his being without collapsing from intense pain. After all, the light would have to come from inside him and pass all through his body, burning his insides. Shade is a unique exception.

Shade - This allows Hikari to absorb the light from a given area and shroud it in darkness. Hikari may now absorb strong blazes and electric bolts entirely. In the case of electricity, he must come in direct contact with the light source he seeks to absorb. Unfortunately, he is quite unable to avoid being knocked to the ground after receiving the shock of a lightning bolt. This spell has the secondary effect of strengthening Hikari, more so if he has absorbed light from an electric source.

Illumination - Being imbued with the power of light, Hikari may use light he has absorbed to illuminate up the darkest of places with a flash. This spell has the secondary effect of weakening Hikari.

Light Manifestation – Hikari may now shape the light he has absorbed into forms. He can create shields and objects from absorbed light. Hikari may now manipulate his creations’ movements as well.

Phase – Hikari has communed with the void within him so far that at times he may discard his solid form for one composed of luminosity, allowing objects to pass through him. Anything the elf is wearing or holding at the moment phases as well. This ability comes at a great cost, for it is very taxing. If Hikari should attempt to maintain his ethereal form more than a minute, he would black out.

Chain Lightning – This skill is the fist outwardly offensive form of magic Hikari has come to possess. He can send forth a bolt of lightning that passes from one conductive body to the next. It is particularly powerful after passing through living beings or water. Its strength will never be enough to kill a being the stature of a human, but it's shock increases exponentially.

Aides – By plunging into the depths from whence his abilities are spawned, Hikari may now create a rift between that realm and our own. In so doing, he can extract two creatures of pure white light from the other dimension to aid him in some way. At the moment, the rift only allows for creatures his size or smaller to pass through and they vanish in a span of ten minutes. They have absolutely no unique abilities of their own but for the physical prowess of the creatures they appear to reflect in our realm.

Vampiric Powers

These come as part of a passive transformation that occurs whenever Arawn takes over the white warrior’s body. Physically, it merely consists of the elongation of his fangs and the growth of his hands into menacing claws. When in vampiric form, the white warrior’s skin is charred in the presence of intense light. The abilities listed here are a direct result of Arawn’s transcendence into the dark world of vampires. Neither Hikari no Ashigaru nor Legol Darkweaver may ever use any of these skills.

Racial Traits – As one of the nosferatu, Arawn possesses strength and agility superior to the average dark elf. Also, the dark elf’s sense of smell and night vision are increased slightly when he gives in to the vampiric taint, allowing Arawn to stalk his prey most effectively.

Immortality – When transformed into his vampiric state, Arawn cannot be killed by conventional methods. He is still quite susceptible to pain but can recover from anything short of decapitation or impalement of his heart if given time to rest. It would take him an entire day to grow back a severed limb, for instance.

Contamination – A common ability of all vampires, Arawn is able to sire others into the undead fold by biting them and making them drink of his blood. Should he choose to drain a victim of blood without letting them drink of his before they die, Arawn may sire a mindless zombie instead of a vampire. While they still live, such creatures may harbor a mild obsession for their master.

Obfuscation – As comes to pass with many a vampire, Arawn may now conceal himself most effectively. In the presence of mild shade, the vampire may make himself invisible in the darkness and remain so as long as he neither moves greatly nor is illuminated by a light source.

Hypnotism – Arawn can now manifest control over other undead beings. For now, it is limited to those who have very weak wills or that he has sired himself. He’d have a hard time dominating a necromancer’s creation, for example. Arawn can also insert suggestive comments into the minds of the living.

Transformation

The white warrior must create a direct bond with a source of light to implement his change. The ability consists in his cloak enveloping him completely and then his body bursting into light. The elf retains the same shape with a brilliant white glow, but has improved characteristics depending on which runeword he implements during transformation. He retains solidity and may be harmed as he would outside of this new form. Every rune he deciphers upon the dark cloak is a new ability waiting to be unlocked for his transformation. It does not weaken him as phasing does, but as he creates a direct bond with a light source, it mustn’t be hidden from him. Should it be blocked from him before he chooses to return to normal, he would instantly revert and fall unconscious. Also, he may not use any spells that expel light while transformed in this way. He has discovered that a rune will sometimes glow upon the cloak and reveal itself to him if an ability similar to the one it grants is used nearby.

Kyo – This rune increases the elf’s size while transformed. He does not become a giant, but his already considerable height is roughly doubled so that he towers over his enemies in battle and poses a greater threat.

Hane – This rune grants the elf bat-like wings. They are white and glowing as the rest of the elf’s body while transformed and give him the ability of flight. He may sore high, but not exactly quickly.

Fera – This rune makes the elf’s movement much faster when transformed. It does not increment his aerial movements as much as it enhances his speed on the ground. This allows him to run rapidly and act more agilely than usual in normal combat.

Vepres – This rune manifests razor-sharp curved spikes across Hikari’s transformed state; mainly on his arms. They appear only where he desires them to be, making him lethal in close-quarters combat.

Ayor – This rune encases his shape in armor. It has gaps wherever he desires, such as over his eyes. The durability of the armor is equal to damascus at this point. This creates a stronger barrier against physical attacks for the elf.

Certus – This rune allows the white warrior to make use of thrice his normal physical strength. Still not quite at the level of some of the land’s famed warriors, this nevertheless ensures that the dark elf is a force to be reckoned with.

Familiar

The elf’s familiar is a silver dragon, a parting gift from Castle Honroy. Its name is Argen. Argen has domain over wind and right now is at its sub-adult stage, standing twelve feet tall. His wings can carry him and others through the air with ease.

Cyclone – Argen can produce a tornado of air with the batting of his wings. It can no sooner blow away an opponent than crush him. However, Argen can make many of these with ease to confuse or disorient an enemy. They have grown more powerful with usage and can now cause considerable chaos when debris is caught in them.

Gust Sphere – With an opening of his mouth, the dragon can let forth a burst of air. This force is very strong and can knock back a foe. It takes the form of an orb of swirling wind that makes contact with the target. Argen can now make several simultaneously.

Polymorph Self – Argen, as many dragons do, has learned the ability of changing shape. He can take the form of a creature relatively his size or smaller. The dragon may still communicate with the white warrior telepathically in these moments of transformation, but cannot perform his other skills.

Control Weather – Through practice of his dominance over wind, Argen may now control the weather of an area with a diameter of roughly one mile. He cannot create natural disasters as yet, but may make it rain where it was once dry and the like.

History

Far from the known regions of Althanas there is a land called Tarn. It is a beautiful continent covered with blue-green trees and a rich coating of grass that never dies. The feeling of serenity and calm it produces could overwhelm other Althanians who are unused to such untainted greenery. However, most never witness its beauty. The island continent is surrounded by a shallow reef that forms a thin ring around Tarn, stopping ships several miles before they can even see the land’s coast. Most just avoid the reef, believing there to be nothing of interest on the other side. Those who do venture further towards the island are met with countless roaming packs of sea drakes that inhabit the waters between the reef and Tarn’s lush shores. As such, it’s rare for anyone to leave or enter the small continent.

Of the races that have migrated to Tarn, only two are worth mentioning for having established a stable and powerful society. The newer of the two is a goblin subspecies known as the Lokshen. Members of the Lokshen are thinner and much more agile than their better known kin. For the most part, these superior goblins train their young for war and value archers as elite members of their society. Their marksmen are second to none. Not as ambitious as some races, the Lokshen think only of combat with their rivals on the island, with whom they have been battling ever since they arrived five centuries ago.

The dark elves of Tarn have been around for far longer, though it is not known precisely when they arrived. Like their ancestors from Alerar, most of them possess dark grey skin and silvery hair. Over the many isolated years in Tarn, these drow have become noticeably taller than their brethren and some have come to have different, more colorful, hair and skin shades. Also alike the drow of Alerar, Tarnean dark elven society values a return to the natural ways over technological advancement. In response to the Lokshen’s combative ways, they have established mandatory martial training for their youths, specializing in stealth tactics to use Tarn’s woods to their advantage.

Two hundred years ago, an aged and palpably powerful being arrived in the grove where the Tarnean drows’ elders lived. He brought with him a case with five glowing scrolls and requested council with the elders, who were themselves curious as to how this man had managed to enter Tarn knowing of their existence. After several hours, the elders emerged from the meeting and told their brothers and sisters only that they would be guarding the case for the visitor, whose name he had said was Tashronde. They were told that the scrolls were both blessed and cursed with great power and that Tashronde had chosen them to guard the case for their unique isolation from the rest of Althanas. So, with the case tucked into the hollow of the most ancient tree in the grove and all drow present warned, Tashronde left Tarn.

~Age 150~

Shonrade Darkweaver, husband of Kal’ Men and father of Legol, was a great military leader among the drow and had single-handedly slain many Lokshen. Renowned for his abilities, he and his family lived near the elders’ grove. Though it was not well-known to most, Shonrade had a dark secret. He always thirsted for greater power. Unsatisfied with his position in the Tarnean military, Tashronde’s scrolls had always seemed to call to him. However, he did not want to risk trying them on himself without knowing the full extent of their alleged curse. It was this that drove him to ask his docile son, Legol Darkweaver, to go into the woods away from the dark elven city. The younger drow was one and a half centuries old at the time.

Stealing the case was simple enough for someone of Shonrade’s standing. By telling those in the grove that there had been a Lokshen raid nearby, all curious eyes that might have hindered him soon left to the nonexistent diversion. The veteran dark elf quickly went to the hollow, stole the case and made his way into the clearing in the woods where he had told Legol to wait for him. Once there, his acquiescent son did as he was told and fell to his knees before his father, remaining silent as his father began to read from a white glowing scroll in his right hand with his left upon his son’s forehead. Shonrade had chosen to use the Scroll of Light.

When he was done, Legol passed out on the grassy ground. Shocked, Shonrade Darkweaver dropped the scroll back into the case with the others and shook his son’s unconscious body. Suddenly, something weird began to happen. Wisps of light began to appear all around the clearing and become slowly drawn to Legol. As they came in contact with his skin, he seemed to absorb them. Further, his grey skin became the purest white and his silvery blue hair became pitch black. The whites of his eyes too became black, leaving dark orbs in the sockets. As more and more wisps of light entered him, an area roughly five miles around him was plunged into darkness and he awoke gasping, thirsting for more light. His father pulled him out of the darkened dome and confessed his transgressions before leaving Tarn, somehow, in shame and taking the case with him, abandoning his transformed son while he was still collapsed on the ground.

It was at this time that Legol Darkweaver began calling himself Hikari no Ashigaru and ever hungered for light. Hikari sought out the Tarnean drow elders and demanded they tell him what they knew of Tashronde. They had very little to tell, but gave him a rune-covered cloak the man had left behind so many years ago. They were the first to notice that the transformation of the scroll was not only in his outward appearance but in his character as well. Hikari no Ashigaru did not at first realize any such difference and set out to uncover what he could of the scrolls to keep others from their curse. Kal’ Men had died a few years back, murdered by Lokshen. With nothing keeping him there, he left Tarn, using his newfound abilities to avoid the dangers along the way, and began to search for Tashronde, the scrolls and Legol’s father.

~Age 151~

After searching for several weeks, Hikari met a strange man in a tavern of Corone. He called himself Kaejil and claimed to know Shonrade. Kaejil told about how the aged dark elf was unsure of what to do with the scrolls. He was torn between using them on himself for power, selling them for wealth, and destroying them for redemption. Disgusted, Hikari continued his search and soon ascertained that the scrolls had been separated with the help of an individual called Zoze. Still not knowing why this had happened, whether sold by Shonrade or stolen, he set his sights for the first scroll whose location was revealed to him, the Scroll of Fire.

~Age 152~

The Scroll of Fire was obtained easily enough from the treasury of a summoner. The white warrior, as he was known, quickly began to grow into his powers and surprised even himself when he became a finalist in Althanas’ famed Cell tournament. He was overcoming obstacles with absurd ease and growing ever stronger, quickly becoming power-hungry. He did not realize that this was evidence of Hikari no Ashigaru slowly taking completely over Legol Darkweaver’s body. Hikari tried and failed to remain loyal to such clans as the Order Within Chaos and the Red Hand, finally concluding that he was not one to answer to superiors. Both his already impressive power and arrogance continued to grow.

~Age 153~

Then it came that Hikari no Ashigaru was trapped by a yellow-skinned human named Raiba, who sequestered him in Castle Honroy. He was tortured and interrogated for two months there, deprived of light to impede escape. Raiba had used the Scroll of Air on himself and wanted information on the others. The human gained his knowledge of the scrolls from Kaejil, whom he had tortured and subsequently murdered. A quick confrontation between Raiba and Hikari ended in injury for both and death for neither. Escaping the castle with a few trinkets, the white warrior was soon granted control of the Black Hand and a captain’s position in the Kyorl. Unsatisfied, he quickly relinquished both.

~Age 154~

A silver egg Hikari stole from Castle Honroy hatched and from within came a dragon he dubbed Argen. The magical creature soon became his only trusted friend and a dependable companion in many situations. Argen was by the white warrior’s side during a quest in Salvar, where Hikari no Ashigaru finally came to realize he was in possession of another’s body and Legol Darkweaver’s spirit was awoken for the first time in several years. Promptly reestablishing dominance over their body, Hikari no Ashigaru became even more curious as to the nature of Tashronde’s scrolls and found his unique cloak had hidden powers of its own.

~Age 155~

After some time, Hikari no Ashigaru and Legol Darkweaver’s battle for supremacy over the same body was greatly complicated. Hikari no Ashigaru had become overconfident in his powers and started using them against the obviously vulnerable but dangerous nosferatu. In one such encounter, he was bitten and drank their blood. With that, the vampire Arawn was born and began his own struggle for power against the other two life forces within the white warrior. He was far more vicious and cruel than even Hikari no Ashigaru in the most violent of his tempers. The vampire’s intentions at first, as far as anyone could tell, were to strengthen his control of the conflicted body and awaken what powers vampirism had in store.

Notes

- This is a more accurate version of my profile as it was before the crash. Link ( http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache:DsPPF4E9YbgJ:www.althanas.com/world/archive/index.php/t-10934.html+Arawn+chain+lightning&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=3&client=safari)

- The only real difference between this profile and the one I’ve already submitted is that I forgot the last rune in my character’s transformation.

- I’ve edited and reformatted my History section to make it an easier read.
