Striker

Name: Striker
Age: 20
Race: Neko
Eye Color: Yellow
Height: 6’1"
Weight: 210 lbs
Occupation: Bandit or Bodyguard

Personality: Striker has a very gung-ho attitude. He likes the experience of a fight and considers it one of, if not the best resolution to any conflict. He is loud, often unintentionally comical, and does not really give much thought to the ethical implications of his actions. Enjoys a healthy dose of adrenaline and wanderlust.

Appearance: Striker stands tall at his full height, with a muscular build and surprisingly good posture. He is covered with matte orange fur with lighter, yellow highlights along his back and arms. As one might suspect, his eyes have cat's pupils. His forearms are home to a goodly number of scars. He usually wears loose fitting pants and often goes shirtless, unless the climate dictates otherwise.

Skills:
Halberd - Average
Dexterity - Above Average
Wilderness Survival - Below Average
Archery - Below Average

Halberd: For a few months, Striker has been using a stolen halberd to hook travelers off their high horses, literally, and fight them unto submission. While many of these victims have been petty nobility, Striker has gotten very used to using the halberd as a weapon as well as a tool, and can hold his own in combat.

Dexterity: Striker is in very good shape. For his line of work, he relies on his innate reflexes and dexterity a great deal. He is faster and more agile than an average human being, but only just.

Wilderness Survival: Striker spends a lot of time traveling from one city to another, or waiting in ambush for unwary travelers to come along. In either case, he is quite good at spending extended periods outside of cities, and is able to find food, hunt, and set up camp based on this experience.

Archery: Striker has used a bow to hunt game in the forest, very rarely in combat. He knows how to stand correctly, aim, and pull the bow back, but he has to say the steps in his head as he does it, and he certainly is no great sharpshooter.

Equipment: Halberd - Steel head with a reinforced Ash handle
Bow and Quiver - An oak hunter’s bow and 20 iron-headed arrows.

History: At 15, Striker left his gypsy camp with the interest of seeking his fortune. A blacksmith hired him as an apprentice for all of two hours before decided it was far better to seek the fortunes of others than his own. The closest weapon at hand - a recently made halberd to replace the broken one of a soldier - quickly became his and he left for the streets.

Some thieves end up becoming masters of their craft by artfully lifting a person’s purse long before they even notice it. These talented young men and women later go on to be cat burglars and true masters of the art. Striker, on the other hand, elected to go the route of dashing a person in a dark alleyway, taking their things, and fleeing. However, a few close scrapes with the local watch and a deeply philosophical discussion with a local angler helped Striker to understand that it is a far greater thing to simply be patient out in the forest pathways and avoid the ire of any lamp-carrying do-gooders who would intervene.

Encounters with Striker on the road between cities would generally go something like this. A vaguely wealthy-looking individual, preferably on horseback, would ride though the ambush point. Striker would dash out, swing the hook end of his halberd, and unhorse the rider. The following conflict would usually be short, as the nobleman would try to draw whatever ridiculous fencing sword while lying prone, while Striker would simply dash him with the blunt end of the staff, frisk him for his valuables, and send the horse on his merry way. Occasionally he would even challenge hired bodyguards, if they looked unprofessional enough. On encounters that are even more atypical, he would so deftly best the bodyguard that a traveler would hire him on the spot to replace him, and earn greater fortune by simply protecting his former mark from other bandits. And, of course, sometimes Striker would get greedy and bite off more than he could chew, earning him a few scars and being forced to flee through the woods.

Effective as his technique has been for the last three or four years, Striker's own natural wanderlust has kept him from holding down any particular turf, and lacking in any finesse, nobody has ever bothered to tell the tale of their robbery. Therefore, Striker has been able to keep this up for some four years now. In fact, he is about to deliver a traveler to Underwood after a somewhat violent conflict with a bodyguard claiming to be one of the finest samurai in the world. This turned out to be untrue, of course, but Striker’s ego has nonetheless been bolstered to the point where he might consider working harder for greater treasure, if the opportunity should arise in town.
