A conversation about dreams with my ex stimulated the idea for this thread. Recently I haven't been dreaming at all (I tend to not remember them when my insomnia gets bad). But a few months ago I kept a dream journal for awhile and got some sparse yet very interesting results.

Anyone got dremas you remember from awhlie ago, or recent ones still fresh in your mind? I've gotta take a look around and find those old journals...

The night before last, I had a dream that a man and a woman met at some function. It looked like a church function, though she barely belonged to the church and he didn't belong at all.

Anyway, they go with her friend to an old mall that's mostly abandoned and in a really bad part of town, and this woman belongs in the bad part of town as much as a fish belongs in the desert.

So she and this guy are walking and talking, and all of a sudden someone starts shooting at them. So they run. And they're in one of the abandoned department stores when there's the sound of shooting from above, the woman's friend falls through, and one of the bad guys pops out of nowhere and shoots the already dead woman full of holes.

Then my dad woke me up to ask if I wanted anything from the Farm Show.

There are two dreams I will always remember. The first is a recurring dream that I haven't had in a while. The second just scared the frak out of me.

So, I'm at Wal-Mart with my mom, in the clothes department. Pretty unremarkable. Until Godzilla attacks, and everyone starts running for cover. I run to the center of the store to hide from his fiery breath (because apparently Godzilla breathes fire like a dragon in my dreams). Eventually, I end up having to go outside to face off against the beast with only a small stick. And that's when I wake up.

The second is very strange because it's view-from-above in the style of the Gameboy Pokemon games. I'm walking down a road, and I go into a building. Inside the building is a pair of hallways meeting at a cross, similar to how the road to the Elite Four is in Gold and Silver (this was before those games, though). I go to pass the other hall, keeping straight, when a leprechaun jumps out from the second hall. He asks me if I want to buy a Gold Nugget. I tell him no, but he gives it to me anyway, and my little money window pops up, showing all my money being drained away and going into the negatives. I woke up in a cold sweat then.

I had a dream once of a small child playing with a teddy bear. It was just her in this dark room with a spotlight on her. She's humming a pleasent tune while playing with the bear. Then out of no where she sinks her fingers into it's fur and slowly tears off it's skin, which bleeds profusely, as if it were a human's skin being torn off. As the blood continually spatters onto her face, she keeps a closed mouth smile on and still hums the cheery tune. Then she looks up at me with a smile, giggles, and then I see tears run down the teddy bear's face...

....What the hell is wrong with me?

In the words of Nicholas Cage in Con Air;

"My first thought would be a lot."

I've had plenty of dreams from time to time, most of them were so good that I wanted to write them down and make them into stories. I think the most recent one I had was when my dad and I snuck into an abandoned skyscraper in.. I want to say.. chicago?.. and it was covered in moss and what not like what you'll see in the History Channel special After People next week. But yeah, it was sort've tilted, there was no like central area for any of the floors, just a criss cross of broken walkways that extended up to a gorgeous moss-covered atrium with sunlight pouring down in.

..Anyway. It was controlled by some druglord or something. And I don't really know why we were there, I never do. But we waited until he and his crew left for the night when we started spelunking about the place. I think at one point we fought our way to the top through I dunno maybe a combination of zombies and mobsters? And up at the highest point in the skyscraper in the board room overlooking the rest of the building below sat a little black girl that was supposed to be the drug lord's daughter. So we either take her to rescue her or kidnap her, I'm going to say the first because I'd feel thats what I would do in that kind of situation.

I don't really know if any of you have this problem, but in dreams for long periods of time, my mind must have ADD because it tends to change the people playing me and others from time to time. Eventually it had gone from me and my dad saving this little girl to Will Smith and Christian Troy from Nip/Tuck fighting their way to the bottom to escape. The last thing I remember is that whoever I was at the time managed to get to the underground parking lot and there were all these cars parked around.. or what was left of them.. and we were talking and slowly walking out when all these zombies reminiscent from 28 Days Later came pouring out of the back of these cars and trucks and what not. We were shooting, fighting, stabbing, breaking these things when one of them grabs hold of the little girl and kills her.

Apparently, when my dreams simulate missions, I have lives. Because as soon as she died I reverted back to a floor or two above just before the parking garage and then I woke up.

I'm a hardcore gamer, ladies and gentlemen. My mind has proved it! ;)

About a month or so ago I had this dream about me being in some kind of hotel, it was a really grim-looking one, the colors I can remember on its facade are gray and blue, not that they may have any kind of symbolism but anyways. I am not sure I was taking a shower or just at the bathroom when people began screaming at the lobby, I looked through the window, I was on a second or third floor, there where these two fair skined, arab-looking people breached inside holding guns to the air and people flocking away , I make the observation that skin colour because not even I was my normal skin colour, which is tan. Curiously everyone on the hotel was white, but that is not the important part.

A rain of bullets impacted the outside of my wall and I ducked inside my room, went to my door ,but before I could lock it, a man stormed in looking for somewhere to hide. So we locked the door.

After a few seconds of hearing the people scream and the bullets impact there where one or two explotions below, it almost felt like an earthquake and the door sung open. So not willing to say in the hoten with those people ramapging through, we ran outside and suddenly I found myself downstairs hiding behind a red car and a pilar. It seemed as a low-leveled parking lot, but it was fairly illuminated by sunlight.

So one of these guys with the guns walked next to me, I was almost sure he saw me but he didnt shoot me, he just kept his slow pase inside the building, and there was a big explotion, I can only remember debriss flying before my eyes. the next thing I was doing was runing outside the front gate of the hotel and triping over a few bodies. there was another explotion behind and I woke up.

It must have been caused by the paranoic phobia I have of being traped on a school shooting or something, there where times in the dream where the hotel kind of mixed into a highschool image. *shrugs*

The Writing Writer, that dream is so awesome and perfect for my dream demons to send that I will have to try very hard to not steal it for my stories.

I had an odd dream this morning. It wasn't very long, so I'll just summarize. My grandfather was sharing his Archie hentai with me. For the record, Archie, hentai, and my grandfather is an impossible mix no matter how you stack it.

My most common dreams happen when I've got a new videogame. I will dream about playing/being in the game and typically I'm having some sort of trouble with it that makes me all tense when I finally wake up.

There's another type of dream that I've had twice, and I don't want it anymore. It's the type where I dream that I've woken up exactly where I should be, but I can't move my body at all. It feels like there's a heavy weight on my chest and it seems like I'm fighting it forever. Then, I wake up. But, I'm again only dreaming that I've woken up, because I still can't move. This has happened five or six times, over and over again, and the only thing that's woken me up from it is some outside noise that I can latch onto, typically my wife moving about our place. I think there's some scientific name for this, but I forget what it is, so I haven't been able to look it up. The closest thing I can think of is stories of demon attacks in one's sleep, and while that's probably not it, it does convey the sensation perfectly.

Ok, last dream and, surprisingly, one I remember rather well. In the dream, I know that I'm some sort of scientist and my research is getting into some disturbing, sinful, guilt-inducing territory. I'm standing in front of some huge hangar-like doors deep in a building. They start to open to reveal a pitch black room, and a woman in a lab assistant coat emerges. I know, in that moment, that she is pregnant, and it's a terrible, unnatural occurence that I thought I would be able to prevent. Then, through some method that I don't remember the details of, I kill her. The vague impression is that I shot her, but the emotion attached is as violent as if I had strangled her.

Interesting. You have my permission to steal my dream for your stories, because yours were interesting to read. =D

I often dream I'm sitting in the backseat of a car between two people that I know. As we drive around the guys I'm with are shooting at people and basically having a good time. Except for the gun shots and the odd comment it's silent in the car, I can't even hear the motor running or the street beneath the wheels. The guy on my right is always obnoxious; his manner grates on my nerves until I ask the driver if I can get rid of him. When I'm told 'Yes' I slide into the man's lap and dig my nails in to the skin of his chest. Everyone ignores me.

His skin peels back as if it were barely attached. Yet as I bare the muscles of his chest he just grins at me and winks as if it were a huge joke. Tearing at muscle I force my hand up under his rib cage, reaching for his heart. He finally loses the smile and starts whispering to me but I can never understand what he's saying. My hand finally closes over something hard where his heart should be and I pull it out.

In my hand a black orb the size of a small orange rests. The whispering stops when I bite the orb, braking my teeth on it and taking a chunk out of it with the jagged edges of what's left of my teeth. The orb consumed, I opened the passenger door and shove his body out of the moving car after wiping my hands on the clean shoulders of his shirt.

Right before I wake up I heard the man's whispering once again, only this time I can hear him say something like 'Too late.' It's then that the others turn to look at me.

You're all a bunch of freaks. Except you, Zook. You're awesome. Okay, now here's my dream.

I'm in the subway. And everything is empty; the whole damn place is empty. Except for me and a friend of mine. Suddenly a guy in a suit and coat appears and draws a gun on us. My friend raises his hands but I feel determined to prove something, I don't know what. So I pull out both of my guns and walk forward. He points the gun at me but I just smile and train mine on him and when I'm right in front of him pull the trigger. Both guns jam. He hesitates for a moment, then shoots me in the stomach. I fall and he leans over to check if I'm really dead. I lunge forward suddenly and bite a big chunk of his left cheek off. Then he puts his gun against my heart and pulls the trigger. I die.

And then you were raised again to the right hand of the Father because you passed judgment? Amen

I once had a dream where a dog with an English accent, speaking in purple prose mind you and wearing a fez, brutally tore me apart. I tried to yell for help, but I couldn't because my voice was gone.

Another time, I had a dream where I was that star on that old Nickelodeon show Weinerville. So then I was brutally murdered by Chucky the doll who, strangely, stayed in character by making bad puns.

I had another one where my Curious George stuffed animal foretold the end of the world in sick, gruesome poetry.

I looked all these dreams up in a Freudian dictionary, and it said I was a homosexual. Spot on.

So I had this dream... and I really want someone to tell me what it means because its creeping me out already. I feel its a bad omen, or its just my stomach hating the cheese I ate that night. I'll say that I have not had a dream as vivid as this one in years, specially one so dull. I've already asked a bunch of you but I'd like to hear from more people.

"I am" in a large plaza made of gray stone bricks. The sun is gray like a winter's rainy day. Three black trees, old, twisted and without leaves stands in front of me, and although they lack foliage I cannot pass those three trees. There is a white tower in the horizon in front of me I can tell it's old. In the East I can see the head and shoulders of a colossus emerging from the top pf the trees, it resembles a lot to that of Rhodes, I know he faces away and that if I where to look at it I would see his back.

My attention is upon a woman before me, lying in the cold stone, face first and she is naked. She has really hold hair up to her waist, her hand is besides her face, but I can only see her lips, her body hides everything else. She is not dead, though she does not seem alive. I have the feeling that she was dragged from her environment, and now she is struggling around the cold. It reminds me of a fish out of water.

Next there is a castle, more like a large temple, but I know its a place of power, like that of the white house or the capitol. Its atop a large hill it reminds me a lot of the Parthenon. It's dark inside, light filters in from between the pillars but it is not enough to let me see clearly what's inside. there is a large and sleek cat, a panther that "rests" in a deformed throne. His eyes are lavender, almost purple. I can feel its tense, though it hides it, it appears calm, but his hair raises in particular areas as it stares at me wary. It tries to hide a frown and his teeth, almost as if pretending. Large sheets hand from between the columns, and they are all ripped. I can hear strong wind, but there is none. I can see the silhouette of a large statue behind the throne, but it is too dark for me to figure out what it is, I feel as if I should remember but I never do.

Outside a mother kneels alone, there are some other smaller temples about. It is all gray and there is no one around but her, and her baby in her bosom. She is looking to the ground. I don't feel is important, but she is dressed in a simple cloth, and a white sheet covers the top of her head. She shakes, the baby cries, there is blood spreading through the sheets of her baby and her clothes. The baby dies. She smiles.

EDIT: Ah, I just remembered a quick frame that passed by before I awoke. It was a large stairway, some granite in its tops and its frames made of iron. But underneath them (the dead space underneath staircasesm used as closets and what not) There was a door that opened down. And it opened and If I had sticked my head in it, I saw water. I did not know if it was a pond, the sea or a river, but it was calm. It was not dark, I could see the water well, but there was much fog, and I could only see white in the horizon. A dog suddently apeared, walking through the water, it was a large husky, and it did not seem to notice me. For some odd reason I knew he was my brother, Not that I was a brother of the dog, but that my brother, David, was him.

A different frame, I am looking at the sun, it takes up my whole view. Its silver, as the sky around it is gray, I hear an owl cry.

So tell me what you guys think, because I am really confused...

I LOVE talking about dreams and how weird they are. I've had a couple odd ones. My friend and I are self-proclaimed "dream-mates," because we both have some very odd, random dreams.

One time, I dreamt I was swimming in a pool with my brother, sister and church pastor. We were all enjoying ourselves, and then my ex-best friend and Bridgette Neilsen (not the hot one, the Flava Flav lover one) joined us. The more the merrier, right?

Suddenly, the pool became as big as a football field, and we all realized that a sea monster was living in the pool. It was almost as big as the pool, kind of like Leviathan from Final Fantasy VIII and Gyarados from Pokemon mixed together. So we're still swimming, not minding the sea monster.

My sister, being so random, takes the video camera and starts taking a video of a fish, swimming in the pool. Interested, I take the camera from her and start videotaping the fish. Looking through the camera, the fish starts talking to me, with freakishly big eyes. But when I look at it with my eyes, not from the camera, it's normal. I look through the camera again, at the fish, and it tells me that there's a sea monster in the pool.

Of course, we're all totally aware of the sea monster, but I start to freak out and tell everyone. We decided we should escape. My church pastor tells me the only way to escape is to swim across the football field of a pool, despite the thrashing monster.

"So crazy, it just might work."

In the end, my church pastor, brother, sister and I make it to the other side. But my ex-best friend and Bridgette Nielsen died. So sad.

I like this thread, my friends and I are always talking about who has the weirdest dreams.

Dream: One I can't really forget was when I was in grade six, and I really hated the school bell since every time it rang recess was over. So because of my hatred for this bell in my dream I found myself back at school in the middle of spring playing soccer with friends. Since it was something that I was used to doing every day I hadn't noticed that it was a dream until the bell rang. Here comes the wierd part when the bell rang polar bears would appear from the back of the school and chase people back into class rooms. Looking out the window the polar bears were still there maiming a teacher.

---

Another one I walked into my grade 11 French class completely terrified of one guy. Just a little background on it, this one actually started when we were talking about a trip to a local French restraunt. I actually thought this should be a horror movie at one point.

Dream: There's a serial killer that hides underground, inside the fort of Quebec City. His favourite practice after killing them is making shrunken bodies. Eventually killer is captured and executed.

Years later my grade eleven French class of seventeen gets off a greyhound bus in the middle of Quebec City, outside Le Chateau Frontenac where they would be staying for the week. Happy, talkative teenagers stand in the middle of the lobby waiting for thier teacher to finish checking them in and give each pair the keys to thier particular room. Once every one has thier keys the pairs go off to the elevators to get on and get to thier rooms to drop off thier luggage and relax after travelling for so long (I live in southern Ontario, so it's about a 6 hour drive by car, 9 by bus don't ask why there's a three hour difference). As we start loading ourselves onto the elevators one of my class mates shrieks and all eyes are on her. She's standing there holding whatever scrap her top is left, the rest is shredded to pieces on the ground. I don't remember who it was but she got a jacket from someone and we go about our business.

After settling down everyone gathers to have dinner, and the same girl is sitting near the teacher compeltely fine but she's decided to wear a hoodie at a dinner that we were supposed to be dressed up in. It's a relatively normal dinner as far as I was concerned. The one girl left for bed early, a few of her prissy wing friends following but are sent back to finish dessert for her. Later everyone leaves and we all sneak out of our rooms without the girl who seems to have developed a fear of the lobby and go out to paint the town. When we get back everything is too quiet on our floor. My partner and I get back to our room and are just talking and drawing, we hear one of our classmates start screaming and then it's all quiet.

I look at my friend and she says something I can't hear and we turn off our light. For whatever reason I decide to take refuge under the table for the night, and I see the door open and it looks like one of four male students in our class walking in, and I don't know what happens after but when day breaks I'm standing infront of my friends bed and she's not moving. I walk out and I see two other guys from my class and walk over. We ahve no idea what just happened but our class is dead.

The smart ass guy says we should go to the library and see what's up with the hotel and when we do he gets squished by a bookshelf. Then all I remember after that is I'm sitting on the bench waiting for the bus home alone, and body bags are being moved out of the hotel.

Dreammmmmz :D Mine tend to either be epic or anxiety-based. Some are just short and kind of odd, though. I wanna start keeping a dream journal.

Here's one I had like a week ago:

The necropalypse had happened. Myself along with a small band of survivors were in a suburban-ish area...I think the dream opened with us battling zombies in a cafe. They were semi-intelligent zombies, mind you. Sort of like a mix of generic undead and those Reavers from the Firefly series.

So, yeah. There was quite a bit of eating and mutilation going on. I got hit in the head twice with a chair this zombie dude had hurled but luckily I was never bitten, which I found myself to be quite relieved by. Some stuff happened I can't recall at the moment, and we were outside at an old farm complex. There was rusted farming equipment scattered about, a pine forest nearby and a lot of overgrown golden grass. It was evening and the sky was grey. My friends were scuffling with zombies on a raised porch nearby, but somehow I had been separated and was alone with a zombie clown on the roof of a lower building. He was going to eat me but I managed to lure him into idle conversation.

So while there's all this bloody chaos going on with my friends I'm chatting with this guy. The moment he lets his guard down, I jump off that roof and land on an even lower tin roof that was below us, probably part of some other building. I think he follows after me but either misses or has the roof collapse from where he landed on it, impaling him.

I rush over to where my friends are, climbing a wooden staircase. When I get there they are all dead along with the zombies, but I know that they will soon rise as zombies themselves, so I don't have much time. I look into the long grass which is moving and a pack of very large wolves come running out, climb the stairs and begin feasting on the bodies. They don't pay much attention to me however, so I take a thick wad of newspaper which I randomly found and start waving it into the air.

A small, beat up red helicopter appears and banks toward my signal. It is flown by a man who is going around and picking up any survivors he can find. The chopper lowers next to the roof with the sliding door open and before I can step on to it, a grey wolf walks ahead of me and gets in. I try to get it to leave by making those little "SHH!" noises, like in the Dog Whisperer, but it ignores me and I just follow after it.

Inside we are all crammed together on two benches facing each other. The other people, a mix of men and women, are blood-stained, exhausted and generally look a mess. The wolf has curled up next to me and has shrunk to about the size of a cat. And I think that's about the last I see of it.

So we fly around for a while. I look out a window to see fields and somesuch rushing by underneath us a good ways down. Then our chopper turns into a bus and we're driving through a neighborhood. You can see people lying dead in their drive ways and hanging off their doors from where the zombies had got them before they were able to escape -- the driver is happily pointing this out to us as if we're on some sort of tour. He then tells us that he stole the bus from the zombie gang which now runs this part of town.

We freak out. I mean, why the hell would he come back? I look out the rear window and there is a caravan of survivors in various vehicles following behind us, but then a massive semi-truck, manned by the zombies, pulls out into the other lane and speeds up. Thus begins an epic car chase along a winding highway in the mountains. We come to a break in the road and the driver tries to jump the bus, and while we almost make it, we end up falling off the side of the road into this deep, tree-filled ravine.

At the bottom of the ravine, we are now without a bus but we seem to have lost the zombies (even though in the distance we can see/hear big trees falling over from the truck as it searches us out). The passengers and I start crawling up this steep, sandy slope on our knees and elbows, but when we reach the top the zombie semi slowly rolls into view and we all freeze. It stops and some of them get out and start looking around, all the while we are hoping that they don't get close and spy us. Alas, they do, and the only thing we can manage is to let go and fall back down the slope.

After apparently being knocked out, I wake up along with another girl and we agree to scout out the surrounding area. She goes one way and I go the other. We are still in the mountains, there is a ton of greenery and rocks and partially melted snow, and a bunch of short caves which have railroad tracks in them. A train runs by once or twice and I realise that we are in a recreational park and the people here don't know that the necropalypse has happened!

I turn around to go back to our group when I see my 81 year-old grandfather waving at me from the end of this hiking trail with a mad dude running after him. He has a silver motorcycle at his side, and I know at once he has stolen it. So I get down there, swing my leg over and tell him to get on the back and hold on, which he does. I then drive us down the road to escape the pursuing man he stole the bike from when I see a ranger in that typical brown and forest-green uniform chatting with someone from our group. When I approach them, I hop off and hand the bike over to this other dude who is just standing there looking pissed off and tell him I'm finished borrowing it now.

So we all mill around for awhile. There is this huge pond thing, at least thirty feet deep and super clear, and when I look down into it I can see these mammoth salmon chasing and eating a lot of smaller brown fish. Then someone screams -- I think it's the girl from before. The zombie truck has found us! She and I crawl under an overhang of granite and enter this nifty but really narrow stream with boulders and sheer rock faces on either side of us. It's difficult going because we have to weave around these giant rocks in our way. I remember thinking that the people who are still outside are going to get eaten, and I get an image of a woman in a lab coat standing in a dim room with light coming from behind some Venetian blinds, holding up a test tube and looking at it critically. I sadly feel this woman is going to be eaten along with the rest of them.

Then my grandmother woke me up. ):
