Name: Samir Murad
Age: 32
Race: Undead
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 165 lbs
Occupation: Servant to Rasheed Al-Hazam
Physical Description: Samir Murad is a rather homely thing. His skin is pale and almost of a chalky complexion, seeming to hang off of his bones at certain points on his body; the only exception to this consistency are the large dark circles around and under his eyes. The optical appendages themselves are also proof of his rebirth, the whites of his eyes consuming his irises and pupils. The hair above his wrinkly forehead is thinning and black, its crudely carved style varying anywhere from three to five inches in length at any given spot.
The servant to Rasheed Al-Hazam is usually garbed in a dirty beige robe with short sleeves, a splitting rope tied around his waist in a double-knot. He uses no other clothing, not even shoes – as one would assume, his feet are exceptionally dirty and calloused. Samir’s hands, elbows, and knees show this as well, his body clearly forced into manual labor throughout its majority. His standard demeanor is one of effortless slouching, but when work comes his way, the Undead quickly stands up straight to perfect posture.
Persona: Samir has a very accepting personality – he knows what his fate is, and is willing to accept that destiny without a hint of resistance. An air of laziness usually surrounds the servant, his perspective on life forcing him to not care about most anything. His words are usually slow and reserved, but are certainly capable of speeding up should the necessity arise; his small vocabulary tends to focus around words such as “Yup”, “Huh”, and “Reckon”. He’s a “no worries” kind of guy.
When his master gives an order however, his gears switch entirely. Standing up straight and sharpening his tongue, Samir becomes a very motivated person. His steps quicken and his movements are more vivid, the servant “kicking it into gear” whenever Rasheed requests something of him. Even in his laid back, normal behavior, Samir can fly into a rage at the slightest dishonorable comment made to his master. His whole life seems to revolve around servitude, and nothing mortal could command him otherwise.
Equipment: The only weapons and armor that Samir Murad uses are the bones of his body and the protection of his flesh. More explanation in Powers & Abilities.
Powers & Abilities:
Tissue Transformation: Samir Murad has the ability to alter his flesh and bone at will in numerous ways to give himself the advantage in a fight.
-Mass Change: His muscles and bones hold the capability of increasing or decreasing in size. He can currently grow or shrink his body parts by 50%.
-Harden Bone:The servant’s bones can harden to be used as stronger defenses or more deadly weapons, giving his body’s frame the strength of iron.
-Muscle Boost: Samir’s muscles can increase in power greatly should he desire, allowing him to run half again as fast and lift half again times more than an average warrior.
-Toughen Hide:The Undead’s skin can become rocklike and dead at any given moment, protecting the flesh and bone beneath from many different kinds of harm, including heat and acid.
The Gift of Undeath: Because of his zombie status, Samir holds many advantages. Pain, while still existent, is nullified by a great deal. Most of the organs in his body are useless save for his brain, which is the only thing he needs to continue living. His body is powered by the necromancy of his master, which removes the requirements of ingesting food or breathing air.
Fighting Style – Brawler: Raised by the streets, Samir was naturally involved in countless fights during his adolescence. Most of these conflicts occurred in random busy locations, not open battlefields – as thus, he became very used to using weapons and random objects in his fights, resorting to any measure in order to achieve victory. Samir has no problem flailing around in a crazy tornado or getting up close for a bout of grappling; most enemies of his lack the power to defeat him at melee range.
History: Samir Murad was born into a poor family, with a father who was never around and a mother who was forced to resort to begging and prostitution in order to feed her children. His first two decades were full of fights and hatred of all sorts, many dangerous situations nearly claiming his life. Eventually one of his escapades found him trapped in a corner against the blades of half a dozen men, and Samir thought that it was over. But then, to his great surprise, a local merchant came from behind and actually paid the gang off, saving the young man’s life.
The street rat knew at once that he owed this man, Rasheed Al-Hazam, his life. Seeing as his current situation had turned into a miserable mess, Samir asked the merchant if he could repay the life debt by working for and protecting him. The necromancer happily accepted, and the two became travelling companions for a long while. Business was good, but not great; Rasheed made a nice chunk of money, and did not mind sharing it with his aid.
A little over two years into his service, Samir and Rasheed were ambushed by bandits. Remembering his life debt, the young man threw himself in front his master, intercepting the tip of a crossbow bolt. He wasn’t sure how, but the merchant immediately slew the bandits – Samir didn’t care too much, considering his ever-approaching death. The white tunnel appeared before him and his every memory flashed before his eyes; then he walked into brightness, and the beat of his heart faded.
But then his eyes reopened. At first, the servant of Rasheed Al-Hazam was absolutely bewildered: how in God’s name had he survived a bolt to the chest? His master’s big smiley face was before him, inquisitive as to how he felt and ensuring him that he was okay. When Samir asked, he never could have expected what the merchant told him – apparently the old man was a necromancer, and he had revitalized his assistant because he didn’t feel right allowing such a good travel companion to die for him. The reborn creature didn’t believe the story at first, but when he saw the complexion of his flesh and noticed the absence of a heartbeat, he knew it to be true.
The change of life to Undeath took several years to grow accustomed to, but eventually the servant grew fond of it; his existence was dedicated to serving the man who had saved him from becoming a mere beggar, and as far as Samir was concerned, he would always owe Rasheed his life. Following his master with no goal other than to serve, Samir Murad continues to travel the world with the necromancer as a trusted bodyguard, servant, and friend.
