Izvilvin's eyes are lavender, his hair white and his skin black. The warrior is of average height and weight. His clothes are always dark, made to help him hide in the darkness and blend into his surroundings. Izvilvin’s hair falls past his shoulders in straight rows. He has sharp features and long ears, traits of his heritage.

He is lithe but strong, balanced and comfortable.

History:

Izvilvin was born in Ettermire, Alerar. When he was 3, Sindareth Vordutin became Lord General of Alerar’s army, and Izvilvin’s father endured harsh training at his hands. The new Lord General’s intent was to begin an operation to wage war against the elves of Raiaera, sworn enemy of the Drow.

The young elf had a great love for his father, so when he died in battle years later, Izvilvin developed an early distaste for Vordutin. As he grew, Izvilvin dreamed of somehow avenging his father, and was even encouraged by his mother to do so. It was the Drow way, after all.

At 13, Izvilvin saw the opportunity extinguish. As he approached the appropriate age, the boy was contacted several times about joining the army. He would always refuse in anger, though he was never supposed to have a choice. This brought him to Sindareth’s attention. Though the general rarely tolerated disobedience, he was a man that appreciated strength, so he went to see Izvilvin personally.

The confrontation did not go very well. The young Drow could not resist the opportunity presented before him: Sindareth Vordutin within arms reach, barely armed and certainly not prepared to do battle. Izvilvin struck instantly with his training dagger, but was met with the calm and experienced blade of the general. A rough cross to the young Drow’s jaw sent him sprawling, but that was not enough to deter him. Even as he fell, Izvilvin threw the dagger, only for it to be knocked aside by the skilled man.

On the surface, it was a clear act of treason. Izvilvin could, and should have been killed on the spot, impaled on the blade of the general. But this was Alerar, and they were Drow. The boy’s pride was worth something there. As most young male Drow are beaten into servitude before they can reach adolescence, Izvilvin’s determination was a sign of inner strength.

So the general dragged him back, forcefully putting him in the trainee program. Izvilvin showed great promise in only his first few days, and seemed to have a natural talent for handling weapons and sparring. It was train or die, so the elf did as he was told. General Vordutin had him bumped up to a specialized course, one designed to not only develop skill with weapons, but develop young Drow to become especially effective in war.

Izvilvin was trained in a variety of weapons, but was most comfortable with the sai. They were light and small, perfect for a dexterous young warrior. He was beaten every day and subjected to a harsh amount of torture designed to increase his tolerance for pain, and limit his capacity for compassion. It worked to an extent, but Izvilvin kept his pride. He soon fell into the routine of waking up, training with his master, being beaten, training again, and then going to bed.

Years after the beginning of this regimen, Izvilvin ‘graduated’ from the academy. The training had changed him into a soldier, more deliberate in his actions and much, much more deceitful, perhaps hateful. He still held his hatred for the general and the silent pride buried beneath his surface, but Izvilvin was different.

He was 20 when he was placed in another unit, a special group of Drow who existed for the more specialized needs of Alerar: spying, gathering information, and assassination. The most physically capable warriors were put here, as important enemies were often under harsh protection.

Izvilvin played along for some time, for there was no real way for him to escape without being killed. For years he carried out special missions within Alerar, mainly gathering information on the dwarves, occasionally causing an ‘accident’ in their mines. The experience was good for him, but he loathed doing anything under General Vordutin, even if it was for the better of his land.

Years passed like a blur, for life as a Drow is quite different than life as a human, and when Izvilvin was 75 he was sent to Kachuk with the order to assassinate Kharas Lightbringer, leader of the dwarves. A great many Drow assassins had tried to do the same thing since Vordutin was named the Drow leader, and every last one had been killed in action. Izvilvin, being the opportunist he was, used the chance to get into Kachuk’s mines and create a home there, away from Vordutin and the Drow.

It was the perfect idea. Izvilvin was assumed to have been killed in action and was quickly forgotten. Using his knowledge of survival, he lived in the mines, creating a small place for sleeping and covering it with a slab of stone when he was hunting. He searched out food in the darkness, eating underground plants and vermin for many years. He wanted to make it out of Alerar, but Etheria Port was a busy place for the Drow military at the time.

As Izvilvin hit 125, Vordutin and Thoracis led Alerar into war against Raiaera. Security in Etheria Port became lax, giving Izvilvin the opportunity to sneak through and get on a boat out of Alerar. After so many years of living in the darkness, Izvilvin was free to leave.

Due to those events, Izvilvin has a very special place for Thoracis in him, since it was thanks to his appearance and rise to power that he was able to finally leave Alerar. By no stretch of the imagination does Izvilvin think Thoracis deliberately helped him, but he still feels the need to one day meet the man and thank him.

Izvilvin still has no knowledge of Vordutin’s death, and often dreams of seeking his revenge.

Izvilvin ended up in Radasanth, and right from the moment he left the boat, things were difficult. The people saw him and either fled instantly, or confronted him. He had no weapons, so Izvilvin ran. It seemed that life outside of Alerar was going to be no better than living in the mines.

He was forced to use some of his survival skills while on the run, and ended up burrowing a home in the forest, a well-hidden hole to sleep in. After a mere week of living like this, a man veiled in black came to him with a proposal. Izvilvin remembers his exact words to this day, spoken in his native tongue. Translated, it said:

“What if I told you I could help you kill Vordutin?”

After some communication, Izvilvin joined a division of the Corone government called Step, created for the purposes of assassination, espionage and manipulation, an elite covert unit. The promise was that after some years of being in the division, his ‘boss’ would provide troops that would allow Izvilvin to attack Alerar and seek to kill General Vordutin. Knowledge of the man’s death hasn’t gotten to him because of his limited communication with non-Drow, but it’s unknown just what he would do in response to being lied to and manipulated.

Level 1 update

Almost immediately after he arrived in Radasanth, Izvilvin traveled to Scara Brae, a much smaller land that he’d been told was much like Radasanth. Here he took a job with the Scara Scourge, not really realizing that robbing a caravan of 5 wagons is a disruptive, possibly evil thing to do. Together with Khalxaen, they managed to retrieve a single wagon, but Izvilvin was captured in the process.

A pair of Step agents, true names unknown (they went by Jowy and Luca) aided Khalxaen in rescuing Izvilvin, who was set to be executed for murder and theft. The Drow learned what friendship was while on this journey, and officially considers Khalxaen to be his one true friend in the world, though they still cannot properly communicate with words. They hold a special bond that Izvilvin cherishes.

Soon later, Izvilvin was sent on his first ‘official’ Step mission, to infiltrate Jya’s Keep in Fallien and investigate the new sorcerer, Sasarai. So little information on the man was available that Step’s agents felt it necessary to get more, thus an agent was put to action. Even upon completing this mission, Sasarai did not give forth the information Izvilvin needed, instead demanding that he go on another errand for the Keep.

Level 2 Update

Izvilvin had made Fallien his new home, but he still works for Step. The Jya gave him a place in the Keep to live, and he does a lot for the good of the region. Many in Fallien know of Izvilvin and see him in a positive light, because of what he's done for Suravani's Oasis and Jya herself.

The Drow went to Suravani's Oasis when the city was ravaged by a poison. There he met up with Rheawien, and the two went on a horrible journey where they overcame harpies, rode a Phoenix, and ultimately made love. Izvilvin felt a strong bond with the woman throughout the adventure.

However, this bond was severed in the Cell, when Rheawien turned against the Drow, mistaking his alliance with Witchblade as some form of 'cheating', though Izvilvin and Rheawien were never a couple beyond that one night in Fallien. She tore his eye out with a whip and attacked him continuously throughout the first round, but Izvilvin refused to fight back. In the end of the first round, she had plunged a blade at him. He caught it, and was able to avoid the strike, but decided to pull the sword into his own gut anyway and end the drama. They have not spoken since, though they were both thrust into the final round of the Cell.

Level 3 Update

Despite having placed third in the Cell even after fleeing the destructive cage, Izvilvin has developed a distaste for the tournament. The Drow perceives the melee as an indulgent means of entertainment for the bloodthirsty, and a celebration of hatred and malice. What had started as an interesting means of testing his mettle quickly became something that is a source of disgust for him.

Izvilvin has spent some time ignoring his duties to Step, and as a result has begun to believe that the organization is out to get him. A woman named Camella came for him in Suravani’s Oasis, nearly killing the Drow. He believes she was sent by Step, but has nothing to back up that claim.

Because of this, the Drow has recently been considering leaving his new home of Fallien, but is unsure of where he could find a safe place to live. Scara Brae and Corone are lands where he feels uncomfortable, due to the reputation of his people, Alerar is a region of great pain for him, Raiaera could never accept a Drow in their ranks, and he is unaware of the Haidian region and the new Haide.

Missing his mother, Izvilvin is considering returning to Alerar to try and convince her to return to Fallien with him, but many factors are in his mind. Her safety might be compromised due to Step, and someone with evil intention could possibly recognize him. More than anything, Izvilvin fears that his desire to seek revenge on General Vordutin will drive him to do something foolish, for he still is not aware of the man’s death.

Level 4 update

Rather than working up the courage to go through with leaving Fallien, Izvilvin has taken time off from his duties in the Keep to travel back to Corone, losing himself in the thrills of the Citadel. Beyond that, the missions he's taken for the Jya have grown increasingly dangerous as Izvilvin struggles to feel needed. The simple truth is that Fallien would be fine without him, and that there is another place in the world where his life must be used.

He does not want to face this fact yet. The man who would fight a dragon without fear is too frightened of going back to his homeland.

Level 6 Update

Izvilvin met with Ira Shinkara, an Astakan native whom he grew to have respect and admiration for. Initially he thought that she showed a romantic interest in him, but he did not feel the same. They traveled together on behalf of the Jya to Astaka, where they and two priestesses were to meet with a leader and establish a connection between Astaka and Irrakam. On the way, the four travelers were attacked by Arta. Izvilvin was pierced by a poisoned scimitar, but ignored the pain until they arrived in Astaka, where he fainted.

Thanks to Ira, who nursed him through the night, Izvilvin's wound was overcome. As a result his body developed somewhat of a defense mechanism against poison. He also began to feel powerfully attached to Ira, at least for a time.

Fallien fell under seige, trapping Izvilvin in the region just when he was about to move on. The Cult of Mitra and the Harpies banded together to attack Irrakam, trapping the citizens within the city's walls. Izvilvin fought with his ally and friend, Ira Shinkara, to eventually repel the attack.

Before 'officially' leaving Fallien to head back to Alerar, Izvilvin was delivered an envelope from Step. He was instructed to accompany a Corone group led by Letho Ravenheart as they rounded up townsfolk suspected of assassinating a high ranking official. He met Christina Bredith and Letho himself, developing a respect and care for the woman. The Drow is not sure of Letho yet, as he has conflicting emotions.

In the end, the Corone government became the Corone Empire. Step had organized Izvilvin presence for a reason. After Gisela's population rioted at the execution of all the townspeople Izvilvin helped to gather, Step sent him another letter, one stating that he was to make sure Letho Ravenheart died.

Level 7 Update

After receiving his letter, Izvilvin, still in Corone, acted on an insistent order from Step to assassinate the killer vampire, Tarry Whealer. Tarry had killed at least one notable man in the Corone government, many citizens, and had bested bounty hunters that had been sent for him. Rather than risk valuable military resources and time, Step acted.

The Drow succeeded in the mission, though he drastically underestimated the vampire’s skill, nearly costing him his life. Tarry died in dramatic fashion, and Izvilvin took several keepsakes from his skeleton.

With Letho and Christina still in jail, Izvilvin had time to get to Fallien and update the Jya on his status. While there, Camella, the assassin who seemed to live only to kill the Drow, killed over a hundred citizens in Irrakam’s hospital, spelling Izvilvin’s name out in blood on the walls. They locked in a duel, from which very little came, though Izvilvin was able to drive her off. He has made it clear that he is leaving Fallien in order to evade causing the deaths of more innocents.

That done, Izvilvin was transported back to Corone by a Keep wizard and received a black horse from Step to replace his old one, using it to catch up to Letho, Christina and the others while they traveled out of Concordia. This journey had taken less than two days. He resumes his travels with them against the Corone Empire, but still has his order to kill Letho.

Level 8 Update

Izvilvin abandoned the fight in Corone when he felt Christina and Letho could handle the rest, wanting to distance himself from Step in order to protect his friends. As a result, the drow warrior decided, once and for all, to leave the group and live as a fugitive from it. Step’s rules contain the command that any agent who leaves must be killed, a guideline that Izvilvin is more than aware of. After hiding in Corone, Scara Brae and briefly underground, he returned to Fallien where he learned that Sasarai had returned on the back of a great dragon.

His current struggles involve the threat of the wizard and his dragon, and his final decision to head back to Alerar and face his past.

Step

The name comes into reference to stepping in and interloping, of course. Established by the Coronians directly after the Demon War, agents of Step were inserted into the world's governments so that in the face of another disaster or war of tremendous magnitude, the people of Corone would be prepared. The agents of Step are numerous, and of nearly every race on Althanas. They are devoted to their people, and will commit suicide to take any information they were carrying to the grave. A second function of Step is to influence events to Corone's favor. The head and leader of Step is unclear, and no Agent ever receives his directives directly or from the same person.

Skills

Sai Proficiency – Izvilvin has spent an enormous amount of his time working with his sai, so much so that they feel like an extension of his body. The weapons work fluidly in his fingers, moving independently in whatever direction he wishes. Never does he seem to make a mistake. Izvilvin has reached legendary status with his sai.

Weapon Potential – Having trained with many weapons in his youth, Izvilvin has the potential to became skilled with many different types of weapons. He has legendary skill with his sai, legendary skill with his swords, expert skill with his kukris and master skill with all of his daggers.

Throwing – Izvilvin has the ability to throw items very accurately, especially with sai, daggers, kunai or other weapons in a similar range of weight. Over distances of thirty feet and greater, his accuracy begins to suffer.

Marksmanship – Though he doesn’t possess a bow, Izvilvin has began to train with one at Jya’s Keep. He has taken to it naturally, and has an above average ability to aim and fire an arrow. Due to his reflexes and natural rhythm, he is especially fluid and quick when readying an arrow.

Agility – Izvilvin's agility is at its peak. He is comfortable in his ability to evade attacks, so much so that he does not fear being struck by anyone below an advanced area of skill. The Drow can run along walls, flip effortlessly and accomplish feats of agility that are just beyond that of a human.

Reflexes – Izvilvin’s reflexes are incredibly sharp, beyond that of any typical humanoid. He can dodge or deflect projectiles from close range (around eight feet), and from a larger distance, could even dodge them if he only perceived them in his peripheral vision. His reactions are, in two words, frighteningly quick.

Stamina – Having an uncanny amount of stamina, Izvilvin can run, fight, climb or engage in any other high-energy activity for long stretches of time. It takes several minutes of energetic battle for the first beads of sweat to appear on Izvilvin’s brow, and he can push himself to continue at a fast pace for at least an hour.

Stealth – Izvilvin’s ability to sneak, find shadows and remain silent is great. He possesses the ability to climb and run while making a minimal amount of sound, especially in optimal conditions.

Poison Resistance - Izvilvin's body is immune to sickness and poison. Poisons take a mere moment to be filtered from his body, and sicknesses do not affect him.

Darkvision - Izvilvin can see in incredibly dark circumstances, even in the pitch black. Rather than colors, when his eyes shift to the infrared spectrum, he sees heat. It is almost as natural to him as walking in the light.

Advanced Senses - Reaching adolescence, Izvilvin's senses have improved. He has triple the typical hearing and visual range of a human.

Perception – Related to his advanced senses, Izvilvin can perceive things under magical cloaking or invisibility, even if their heat is masked in some way. They are seen as if they were visible, but with a white aura surrounding them.

Force of Will - Through sheer willpower, Izvilvin can often fend off attacks against his mind, spirit or heart if they are of magical nature, such as a spell that makes him angry or otherwise manipulates feelings or thoughts. It nearly always works, and has a high success rate against skills that are used by someone of level 5 or lower.

Magical Fortitude – When it comes to magically inflicted wounds such as fire, ice, acid, lightning, and any other kind of elemental or physical strike, Izvilvin has a chance of overcoming the spell through sheer determination, dampening the effects of the spell and fighting through the pain.

Powerful Heart - Izvilvin can overcome great measures of discomfort and pain, whether it be intense heat or cold, or a stab wound to the chest. Unless he is disabled by some means, Izvilvin will never collapse from heat stroke, loss of blood, or similar injuries.

Icarus Ring (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=1282&page=4) – This ring was obtained in the city of Gillette Sensor Excel, when Izvilvin snatched it from Rappa’s treasure room. It has the power to sprout magical wings of flight when Izvilvin pumps his fist into the air. As of right now, the ring’s ability lasts for a short time, and is only powerful enough to slow a fall, glide momentarily, or lift him several feet into the air. Izvilvin can use this ring 2 times in a battle or quest.

2 Cillu Kukris (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=2821) - Bought in the Fallien bazaar. These items are tinted purple, but are clear as any other glass.

Icicle (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=1945)- Laix's blade, inherited by Izvilvin after his death. A short sword made of Damascus and enchanted with ice, the blue weapon constantly emits a cool mist. The blade leaves a thin coat of ice against anything it touches, and the mist it leaves behind can create 'walls' difficult to see through.

Mjolnir (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=4703&highlight=izvilvin+camella&page=2)- A short sword made of Damascus and enchanted with lightning, this white-hot sword crackles with current. It can send a surprising shock into creatures it touches, but the effect is much greater when it strikes blood, water or another fluid.

Palmer's Greatsword (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=1945) - A Prevalida blade Izvilvin uses to mark the symbolic grave of his allies. It is too heavy for him to wield and too precious for him to sell.

Diamond Daggers (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?p=51145#post51145) – A pair of diamond daggers taken from the fallen Kedx, after the killer was taken down in Concordia.

2 Wind Daggers (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=3315&page=3) – Two Delyn daggers taken from Tarry’s remains. Izvilvin had them enchanted with wind. The enchantment affects both daggers the same way, making them green in tint and surrounding them with an eternal, light breeze. They are both slightly lighter than is typical, and if swung with particular intention, each can release a powerful wind that is as strong as 100 pounds of pressure. If swung in unity, they can generate 250 pounds of pressure. Each blast lasts as long as a regular, short gust of wind, and once used the wind current cannot be generated again for six hours.

Delyn Breastplate (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=3315&page=3) (Enchanted here (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=5249)) – Pilfered from Tarry’s remains, this breastplate was enchanted at The Enflamed Talisman to make it as light as cloth and nearly as flexible, though it retains its hardness through magical means. It is black, and covers Izvilvin’s chest, abdomen, sides and back like a vest. Were it to be hit with a Prevalida weapon, it would possibly cause a magical explosion.

Note: Izvilvin does not speak the common language, though in his short time outside of Alerar he has developed an understanding for several words. He mainly communicates through pointing and movement, tones and facial expressions.
