Althanas has many storylines that go on every day, but how many of you can say that you read threads that you don't participate in? We're all busy, we all want to think about what's going to happen to our characters. Too often, however, the only way we know what's going on with other people on Althanas is because either we're in threads with them and they tell us OOC about their character or because they are our friends and beg us to read their stuff. Apart from our awesome judging staff, there are very few Althanians who will read quests that they don't really gain anything out of reading. So, here's a thread to help combat that, and maybe make the world of Althanas a little richer for all of us. It's time to see this place through other people's eyes.

To post a thread here, there are two requirements. Firstly, you must not have posted in the thread. If one of your character was bunnied in, that's fine as long as there was none of your writing displayed in the thread. Secondly, the requirements have to do with what you need to include in your post. Link the thread title with the thread, and add in the following information: A small review of it, who is in it, and if it has been judged, who judged it and what the score was.

Hopefully this will be a great place to turn to when you have writers block or nothing to post in yourself, and a place to contribute to when you see the little diamonds in the rough that all to often don't get the reading and the credit that they deserve. Mods, feel free to post links and short reviews of any thread you feel deserves a great read, even if it didn't quite live up to the forums high Judge's Choice standards.

To start this off, my own submission.

Dreams of Memories Not My Own (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=4620) is a short solo quest by our resident Bazaar Goddess, Moonlit Raven. This was, I believe, the first but by far not the last prolific display of first person writing that she has displayed. Apart from being some of the best writing I've seen from her, it was a twisty horror story best read on a dark and stormy night. The end judgment saw a 75 from Artifex Felicis. A small factoid to note: this was also Artifex's first judgment and he did a fair job.

The threads submitted are two pagoda battles I thought worthy of attention. The first is Shadar vs. 016573, the second is 016573 vs. Black and Blue Eyes. For males that are squeamish I recommend that you think before opening and reading the second thread. You will squirm in your seat.

A Forgotten Campaign (http://althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=9270)

This thread is a masterful example of character story-telling, the scene switching occasionally between the warrior's younger days as a mercenary for hire and his older days as an old man who gets money and booze by entertaining others in a tavern. Surprise ending!

Here are a couple I read recently that I quite enjoyed. I'll probably think of others as time goes by, but here are some to get the party started.

Rise of the Underground: Part 2 (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=10170): This is a very fun thread that takes some characters who are different from your average Althanians and ties in the intrigue of the FQ into what should have been a simple job for the Contractor Rayse Valentino and his associate Teric Bloodrose. I strongly recommend both this and the first part to the thread. It scored a 76.

Lords of the Night (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=7155): Even if you don't read the whole thread, read the final post. You will definitely enjoy it. This thread is another FQ thread where the characters successfully used elements of the FQ to augment a story. The thread is by Christoph, Elijah_Morendale and Chiroptera. It scored a 72.5.

Drop Zone (http://althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=12362) was a short solo quest written by Liquid Ice. The writing and storytelling is great, and it garnered a 76 in judging. An entertaining show of how her character came to be on Althanas, one part of the history that isn't often looked at in it's own quest.
