WONT’D FER MUT’NY AN’ DESERSHUN AN’ PIE-RACY
LUCIEN MORGAN DOUGLAS
Cit’zens shoud stand watch for a tall, handesome man squar’ o’ jaw with green eyes and long, black haire. In port the sailer’ is known to whar a loose blouse and sturdie boots with a longcoat to fend ‘gainst cold.
Little is known ‘bout his visage two-day, but most assume he remains the same. The Criminal Douglas is rumor’d to have sustained a blow to the eye and shrap’l to the chest before his disappearance. Wheth’r this be Sooth or naught, naye ‘un c’n saye.
Friends, Famlie an’ Crew tell that Lucien made t’ward decency: kined natur’d, quiet in The Chapel, and fond o’ good comp’nie, little drink, conversaishun and coy women. Yet his passhuns drove ‘im to The Sea, and it is believed that the swarthy nature o’ ‘is crew drove him to vice and ah corrupt state o’ being.
Aye’nie letters ain’t been answered, save in dark sketches o’ blasphemous things best left in the drink and mad ramblin’s.
Upstand’n cit’zens should be aware of afore scribed persons lookin’ to hire on as a Quartermaster or Boatswain, oh any of the lesser Mates oh Hands asso-sea-ate’d with the Upright Profession o’ Seafarin’.
Lucien Morgan Douglas wer bore unto Eliza and Corwin Douglas one score and eight year ago. A bright lad, his Muth’r and Fath’r tried their damndest to raise ‘im well, and sources saye they hadn’t a bit o’ trouble. But the boy were a dreamer, and after his Fath’r passed (gods rest ‘is soul) he took to The Wharf and then The Sea to care fer ‘is Mum till the day she layed down by ‘er ‘usban (Peace be among ‘em). ‘E worked ‘ard an’ long, ‘till made Boatswain on board the whalin’ vessel Cornucopia, whoose crew were mostly reformed convicts and cutthroats.
Six days ago Billy Brackham testi-fied while awaitin’ The Noose to the dissapearance of Cornucopia. One day in the early ev’nin an armed vessel (presumably Brackham’s) approached the whaler flyin’ no colors. Fearing Buccaneers Th’Good Captain ordered his men to prepare fer mort’l combat with the ruffiuns. The Boatswain Douglas belayed the Cap’n and, against orders, dee-fy-antlee commandeered the helm steering South an’ inter a gale. Brackham states yon colorless ship gave persoot up to the Eye where Cornucopia did malishusly fire upon the other vessel while ‘er crew engaged in mutinus conflict among ‘emselves afore the storm claimed ‘er and left ‘is own cutter aground.
B’fore ‘is ‘anging for being a backstabber and a liar, Bill swore that he’d done been visited by Douglas in his dreams, now a blood-drinkin’ devil from the depths of Hell itself. Brackham even gashed his wrists and throat to play the part! ‘E went to the gallows bawlin’ and a kickin’ like a woman, screaming to every god on high Lucien were ‘a comin’ fer ‘im. Next eve Billy Brackham were cut down, three weeks before ‘e were supposed to go.
A FORMAL CHURCH NOTICE ON THE DIABOLIC ACT OF VAMPIRISM
Be it noted that LUCIEN MORGAN DOUGLAS is hereby accused of pacts with darker powers in exchange for immortality as a wretched and heinous undead.
There is a wealth of knowledge on the dread creatures known as vampires, and they are one of the worst races in all Althanas. Known for frequently turning to necromancy, or siding with the Infernal Regions, they are loathsome and parasitic in nature. It is presumed that should Lucien be a vampire he would have superhuman strength, speed, endurance, complete immunity to the effects of extreme cold, electrical shock, pain, or any poisons, no need for air, food, or sleep, and a natural affinity for shape-shifting and the dark-arts. It is noted though that all vampires must sustain themselves on the blood of sentient creatures, and that some require a short period of rest in the soil they were buried in or caskets. However for all their strengths, vampires do display a set of unique weaknesses: a disdain and susceptibility to fire, violent allergic reactions to Sunlight and sometimes garlic, saffron, hawthorn, holly, wrought iron, white oak and certain religious symbols.
Citizens should immediately flee his presence, notifying all Watchmen and City Guards within the vicinity, as well as the closest Paladin or Cleric, and seek consultation and cleansing with a local Priest first thing at Dawn.
OOC Annotation:
Lucien Morgan Douglas is currently capable of slightly enhanced strength, cold and poison fortitude and a high pain threshold. He has no need of sleep, food, or air, but does require blood and rest in his soil of burial (As Lucien died in the ocean, he is considered buried at sea, and must return to the Ocean every morning). Sunlight is anathema to Douglas, as are cleansing herbs, witch’s wards, and iron. He is repelled by religious symbols where faith is applied (For instance, a manned church, but not an abandoned one), and cannot enter into Holy Grounds. While ignorant of The Dark Arts and Shape Changing, Lucien possesses intuitive reflexes towards such and the skills would come naturally to him.
Lucien is a sailor by trade and has no standard combat skills aside from general brawling and no formal weapon training. Weapons he has been exposed to on a regular basis include knives, rapiers, the flintlock pistol, and the scourge, yet he maintains a minimal knowledge of their use in interpersonal combat, let alone supernatural.
