Mia has reddish orange hair with black tips and the two bangs that she lets hang in front of her face are both black. Her violet eyes are usually found peering over the top of a pair of silver framed red glasses. About her neck is a leather choker that is simply a short belt with a silver square buckle. Her clothes differ from time to time, but her favorites include a very silky black mesh long sleeve shirt, over which she wears a tight white armless tank top with a black ink looking detail of a raven on it. Around her forearms she wears matte black arm warmers with a few silver buckles along them for adjustments. On her right upper arm she wears a pewter snake arm band that wraps around a few times. As for pants, she dons a pair of very well fitting worn black jeans, with wear marks and cuts in the knees, thighs, butt, pocket edges, and cuffs. A number of patches cover up more revealing and annoying holes. Hanging from both hips are a pair of miss matched black belts that cross in the front and back and are held on by only two belt loops each. Along with the belts, she also has a couple chromed chains and rings that she has used to accentuate the pants back when they were new. A pair of heavy, steel reinforced boots hug her feet comfortably. As for a coat, which she only wears when the weather takes a turn for natural disaster, she has a black oilskin* duster that is usually wedged deep in her backpack.

(*oilskin: canvas that is treated with oil to make it weatherproof)

Weapons:
Two Steel Khukri knives** that she wears across her butt in a way that makes them easy to draw
Two Steel Trench knives** that she wears on her hips in a way that allows her to draw them directly into a defensive posture.

History:

Mia Kane was born on the outer fringes of Salvar, in one of the few uncharted regions that is known to the few more adventurous souls to be held rather solidly by the Ni Kesh tribe. Her father Tenku Kane is the current tribal healer and shaman in a community structure much like that of isolated Shaolin temples on earth. Her mother died during child birth, yet her mother’s eldest sister, Seve, was quick to take Mia as her own. Mia was trained daily in the ways of Kung fu and shamanism under both her father and his brother, known as Wu Teng.

Mia gained a name for herself while training, as she found it best to train during snow storms, her fellow students began to call her “The Raging Storm”

When she turned one hundred and fifteen, she became the leader of the tribal border guard who defended not only the boarders of their home, but their secrets as well. After fifty six years of peaceful times, she sat meditating with her father when the forest spirit known as snow fox appeared before them bearing an omen, that after another fifty years of peace, a great darkness would descend upon the tribe, bringing great pain.

The village heeded the warning, preparing for the worst.

Even with the ever coming danger, Mia found time for other things, such as pursuing a warrior relationship with another young elf named Tera. Their relationship was one that is hard to explain in words, but it can be said that it was even deeper that that of two “soulmate” lovers, or so others would say.

The night of the first full moon of that fated fiftieth year arrived quickly, and the tribe waited in near silence as the invading army approached in the fresh snow. At the lead bore a warrior dressed in the strangest of armors, his form stood well over the height of the tallest villager and his eyes burned like the blackest of coal. The chaos ensued almost without a word, fire tore through the villages from the hands and feet of enemy warriors using fighting styles that no one had ever seen.

During the battle, Mia and Tera became engaged in a battle with enemy leader. Their swords bounced off his armor as they struck at him. They fought for a great deal of the battle until Mia was taken off guard by a strike and knocked to the side. She regained herself just in time to see Tera kneeling on the ground with the enemy’s swords at her throat.

There was silence as Tera’s head fell, as Mia screamed.

There was rage, a fire beyond that which burned the villages and only the darkness which followed.

When she finally regained her consciousness, she was unsure of what happened. She was far from her home, her body was broken and her mind barely comprehended the world around her.

She wandered for an untold amount of time, her mind consumed by the sorrow of losing Tera.

She found herself at a shrine far to the south one day, her body nearly dead from starvation and the elements. The keeper of the shrine was known locally as a rather nasty hermit by the name Sheng Wu. He found her and set a ball of rice next to her, looking her in the eyes he spoke slowly.

“I can see it in your eyes, you have lost much, but, you still live and for that you can still find peace….and possibly vengeance.”

Her mind sharpened on that one idea and thus began the ten years of harsh tutelage of Sheng Wu, master of the storm of blades style. Her learning under his demanding and ever scrutinizing eye lasted for a decade before he told her to leave; she had learned all that he had to teach her for the time.

She left Sheng Wu and ventured back to her homeland, finding that an empire had grown from the death of her people. She ventured quietly into the capital city and searched for the leader, only to find that the man who had killed Tera and her people was long dead and his son had rose to power. She challenged him and bested him within a few moves, only to find that he was not worth her revenge. She left him to rule in fear of her as she left, vowing that if he ever tried to conquer more, she would take his head.
