Sorry for the title, I'm falling asleep over here. Could a mod fix it?
Well, I can't really relate to the nostalgic feeling of remembering the old days when it comes to Althanas. But since I know many of you have been Role-Playing for A while I can just wonder; Do you remember your first quest, ever? What was the plot, who RP'ed with you, and all that kind of good stuff.
I don't know, I am just in the mood to hear stories.

My first quest was six years ago. It was on another board, and though I can't remember the full storyline, it had eight different people in it all at the same time. Loads of fun there.
My first quest was absolutely horrible, on a very different board, and involved trying to take down a dragon god.
I played Drow exclusively back then.

God, I can't even remember my first quest with an original character....it was over eight years ago, I know that.
It probably took place via AIM rather than a forum, and involved my very cliche sorceress character. I don't know, I was eleven after all. I shudder to think.

If you people cant remember your first quest, ever, then you must remember your first quest on Althanas. Pre-crash, or any quest that may have a "first" attached to it.

My first quest? I can't remember that far back. I know I did it over the phone with someone and that it went on over multiple phone calls, but that's it.
Best quest moment I can remember was when my friend was playing this one character that was over level 50 at the time in D&D. He was facing off against a dragon and rolled to see how much overkill he got on the dragon on a percentage die, or something like that. Thing is, he rolled 100%. You can imagine the rest yourself.
Another good D&D story: I wasn't there for this one, but supposedly one time a Ship shot a cannon at my friend's party of eight people doing 67% damage to the environment, but only 3 damage to the party. Here is the conversation that supposedly followed:
"Is that each or divided amongst us?"
"I suppose it would be divided amongst you"
(3 damage divided amongst 8 people? Almost nobody wrote it down)
On a side note, the ship came back with a sign that said 'Oops'.
(I'm actually very fuzzy on a lot of the details of that last one, so I filled them in, best I could)
Since then, I've seen characters coming back to life by emerging from a cumquat (Spelling?), a drunken dream turned real, and all sorts of other craziness.
And that's just outside of Althanas.

I'm shaky on the title, but a group of people including Cyrus the Virus, Kastira and I set off to rob a museum in Radasanth. The premise at the time was to secure an item that nullified magic. Dirks was going to use it to rob the bazaar (because Irisathena used magic exclusively to protect it). Fun times.

I don't remember my first ever rp. I know I did a few, before I came to althanas. I do however, remember my first quest here on althanas. It was called Ah....a tavern. Cliche title I know. It was with The Varsh, Slyphiel, Dario and Jasmine towards the end. It was horribly done, I cringe at remembering it. However, that was my first quest here and I've improved over time since then which I"m grateful for! I also wrote that quest with this account. This account was my first account here on althanas.

Oh, first Althanas quest, I definitely remember that....that was back with my Peri account, it was a little unremarkable thread with Showstopper where they meet and stop a swindler at an inn. It was pretty fun, and I don't cringe too much when I think of it, fortunately.

I do remember it was about 3-4 years back just a few months before the BlueThanas crash. Yamihara Asuka was in the Peaceful Promenade.

My first quest...
Was with my Taviri Ambria account, he got a book from a library only to have it burned before him after he was mugged by some cultists. Solo Effort.
That was my first completed quest.

I... don't remember my first Althanas quest, most likely because it was over six years ago. But I remember one of my first quests.
It was with Drake and Chanoble, both of whom I'm rather certain aren't around anyway. Drake was the QM and it was about saving his girlfriend who was kidnapped by a bunch of bandits. The quest was fun as hell, especially when I snuck up on Chanoble and kicked him into a whole over one hundred feet deep into the ground and he somehow didn't die.
Ahhh, yeah... good times. Sighter still remembers judging that thread and it was one of the funniest judgements. Drake and I still laugh at it sometimes.
'This quest was absolutely pointless and made little to no sense sometimes. It was like 'Hey, my girlfriend's been kidnapped by bandits, better go save her! Oh look, people to join me, oh hey, treasure! OMG, an underground bandit hideout, oh look, more treasure! Hey my girlfriend and more treasure!'
Just as a note on how different things now are on Althanas, I joined that quest halfway through... when it was at 100 posts. When we completed it, it was 250.
I've heard of that quest...

My first quest was almost a year ago, and it was with one of Karuka's alternates, Syn.
Elijah, random do-gooder that he used to be, spotted the drow bleeding under a tree, not realizing that the wounds were self inflicted. He tried to help her, but was attacked instead. He ended up knocking her out with a chunk of ice.
Not knowing what to do, he brought her back to the inn he was staying at, doing his best to help her regain her strength. She took off while he was asleep, and he went after her, only to get mugged. Then some chase scene shit happened, and he happened across Syn once more, who attacked him again.
My first quest on Althanas (and also my first quest ever) was a 100+ posts story written with CreoLady and Zantetsuken called "The Hunt Begins". I remember that I tried to jump into a quest two of them wrote only to find out that the quest was actually finished and submitted for judging and that I've bunnied both of their characters without permission. They were really cool about it, though, explaining me how stuff works and allowing me to join the follow-up which wound up being over one hundred posts long. It was about Zantetsuken's characters Karel and Vlad searching for some badass sword and the two of us tagging along. It ended with a huge battle between Karel and Vlad and Letho got a kiss from Tayotihua. On the cheek. We recieved a score of 52, if I recall correctly, and Shyam was the judge. Damn, those were the good old days.

I don't entirely remember my first quest, but I remember who I first roleplayed as. I do though vaguely remember my first quest on Althanas.
My first quest ever was back some 9 years ago on a Dragonball Z RPG site where I played Jenova from Final Fantasy (yeah........).
As for my first quest here (back in 2004), it was a quest I with Tye and i believe Damion Shargath (really good writer. i wonder if he's still around). Anyway, I wrote somethin' stank and manure terrible, but it did get completed. I don't remember what the score of that monstrosity was though.

My first Althanas quest was one huge long pointless thread started by noc(and a bunch of numbers at the end of that) who was basically Vivi from FF9. It was called The Silver Pub and I joined on May 9th, 2002. Tshael was made a bartender, some human guy scared the crap out of her, so she had to attack him, a kitsune showed up (I think her name was Asuka) and talked to Lorenor, who had shown up just after me. I don't think we ever had it judged, because it was pages long, and like I said, had no point. But it did establish the pub, and started the friendship between Tshael and Noc that would one day give her the Pub. I think the Pub kind of fell out of everyone's minds after that thread until the first FQ, when it was incorporated in again, by Noc. It was towards the end of the 1st FQ that Noc gave it to Tshael.

First non-althanas quest was on the Megatokyo forum before it all went HUGE, showing up in the climax in the Second Fanboy war, sticking around for the aftermath and mucking about in the kicking off of the third.
First althanas quest was the stalled Fallien War involved thread Luxury Resort... hack through a couple of harpies and save some ill-locationed girl, handy enough stuff to start off with.

Just as a note on how different things now are on Althanas, I joined that quest halfway through... when it was at 100 posts. When we completed it, it was 250.Is that all? My second quest was split up into three threads, each reaching 300+ posts each. The only reason they were split was because we needed new people to join after it got down to me and my friend the DM (he had a nifty habit of killing off PC's when they annoyed him with attempted OHKO's on his bosses). Then there were the four follow-up quests that all averaged the same number of posts per segment and were all split into three parts as well. A thread isn't epic until it breaks 200, and a quest isn't legendary until it breaks 1000. Man those were some good times.
Oh man this brings be back....
My first quest on Althanas was in the Peaceful Promenade (of course). Sorahn was still a slave then, so his master bring him in to the bar so he can get drunk. Random assassin guy shows up and knocks him out with a drug then offers to kill him for Sorahn to set him free. Another dude shows up and they get in a fight and leave.
Yeah... that was it. Amazing, huh?
My first quest evar was when I was in elementary school. I was playing an RPG over IRC. Omg it was amazing. It was supposed to be like a medieval fantasy, but the DM decided he wanted to do something different so he said we were all taken aboard the starship enterprise and made to be its crew. I didn't know much of anything about RPing, so I just rolled with it. Thank goodness it wasn't a serious quest or I would've been kicked out.
Here's the best part... by dice roll I was selected as captain. So everybody had to listen to me, and hilarity ensued. My favorite part:
DM: You're being hailed: "Hello. This is Captain Janeway from the starship Voyager."
Me: "FIRE PHOTON TORPEDOS!"
Me: "I hate that show."
DM: "Our sensors indicate that your weapons aren't even armed."
Me: "Oh, hush up and mind your business."
I'll never forget that quest as long as I live.

Role Playing has come a long way I see, I had never heard about role playing over IRC.
And it seems that now everything has to be more detailed and compact. I don't know from where you people pulled 300+ posts from, holy crap.
Anyways, keep telling. surprisingly, I am actually reading these posts.

Working from bottom to top is the chronological order. Darkness of Vengeance, Key of Twilight, and Tapestries of Time is the last quest series that almost broke 1000 with him. The other four were lost with that board's transition to VB3.

*Mind breaks.*
7-8 years of history to recount, spanning dozens of fandoms, sub-fandoms, original stuff and at least four hundred characters. Argh. No.
First Althanas quest was the Raiaeran FQ, or the Catacombs. First RP here was Unto the Broke, Unto the Cynical.

This makes me feel so frickin' old, but my first quest was eleven or twelve years ago with my character Neol Tychus. She was a tiger-stripped centauress with the ability to shift into a tiger and later a human. Yeah, very odd, but I was a kid, and not the brightest one at that.
The first time I played her she got jumped by a pair of thugs trying to steal from her tavern and intent on raping her (while she was in her "normal" centaur form, no less), only to be chased off by some half-crazed psycho werewolf named Max. o_O; I can't believe I remember that... And god those were some insane days. I played in Rhy'Din, the AOL rp community... That should give you some clue as to the stupidity of my early rp days...
Here on Althanas it was some thread with Cassiel, my stoic trader chick. I really can't remember the particulars of the quest, but Zeph was in it, and it involved going after a group who was plaguing one of the trading trains, or so I think. But I could be absolutely wrong...

You were in Rhy'Din?
Medieval Tavern by chance?
The Emerald Hind
02-05-08, 01:29 AM
No, it was a different tavern in which Neol was attacked, but I wasted many, many a night playing her and other characters in the Medieval Tavern.
Please don't tell me you played there, too? xD It'd be the first time I've met up with anyone else who rp'd Rhy'Din style.

Dissinger72 Out of the Medieval Tavern. Role played a rogue who wielded a sword, that whole sappy line. Part of a group of bandits, is the lost prince of a kingdom, and every sappy line to go with it. Remember Barney?

02-05-08, 01:41 AM
Hun, I think we all played cliched characters in Rhy'Din. Not an original character amongst us.
I can't recall the name, but there were so many characters back then, they're all a blur. I barely remember half of my own, which is just sad.
In fact, the only things I clearly recall was the Order of the Crimson Star, the Medieval Tavern, and a few other keystone guilds and chats.

...dear God.
Well, least I'm not the only ex-AOLer around here. And yeah, I bummed around RhyDin too, though I only went there when everything else had degenerated to the point that it was the only thing left. By then it was just a festering pile of cyber-furry STDs. True Fact: The bathhouse (I forget the name of it) could give your character six different types of AIDs if you didn't godmode your way in wearing a hazmat suit. D:

Oh, wow. You guys make me feel so young. :D
Considering my only four years of actual RP, I think I'm doing pretty well. Thank goodness I couldn't make my way back to that British RP board "Souls of Justice." Asuka (Winters) was such a sappy little girl back then. *Reminiscing of the (recent) old times*
Yamihara: I was not a sappy figure! >.<

Man, does that bring back some memories. I definitely remember the Medeival Tavern. And ah....certainly not my best stuff. :o

My first ever roleplaying experience was several years ago, back on the Rosc Boards (which are dead now). One of the mods there was a Rhydin junkie, and decided to do a knockoff called NeoRhydin on those forums. My first character was, I think, a kitsune (think Tails) that cast magic and swung katars that attached to his tails. I didn't specify any spells as being known by him, so he could cast whatever I thought up. I think the first thread I put him in was one where he was flirting with a human girl and so was this android guy (I still talk to the player from time to time). My kitsune got jealous and used electrical magic to control the android and make a fool of him in various ways.
My first quest on Althanas was with Caduceus, called The Journey to God's Name. It was basically just to learn a Water element spell and provide some precedent for the shit I wanted to do with his magic. It let me practice describing rituals, for example, as well as gematria and correspondences. It scored in the mid-sixties.

It seems as Role-playing has changed a lot more during the years. Just what?, four-five months ago, I didn't know it even existed out of the realm of recreating fantasies, or in writings style. So yeah, I dint know much about this web of RP-sites, but Althanas is the first and where I feel comfortable.
Yet, you people are old... There is not many people my age around, at least not active people. Just the archaic creatures, or walking almanacs of role-playing history. *whispers* :P
But it seems I've gotten you people to sigh, and be all like, ohh the good-old days. he he :D its good to know I am not the only one who (is) starting/ed all cliché-y like.
But yeah, anyways, keep telling :P I want to hear more from you...

Ah, youth.
Anyway, my first Althanas quest was...well, I got caught up in one that never finished, then another that didn't finish for six months (Power Struggle), and then a simple little "meet up and meet trouble" called A Fine Day to Get Stuck which was completed in 24 hours.

*goes back to rocking in a rocking chair on the front porch*
I suppose that makes me an awkward teenager in terms of oldness?
My quests score low, that's why I cut.
My first quest took place in the Silver Pub, while Amanda was still truckin' on the road, or something. Either way, it was finished in a few hours and ended with my character scarring someone.
Those were the days.
Those were also the days when Shyam, under his Showstopper account, was judging everything.
Uh...times have changed.
I'm still kind of new to Althanas (relatively spoken) and I feel like a child in a mall: so many interesting things to see, so much to learn to understand, plenty to be intimidated with.
Anyway, I first did rp'ing on another board, about 4 years ago. I started on Althanas in the summer of last year. My first 'adventure' was never really completed, but I did enjoy it.
I am hoping that in a couple of years, I will have a decent 'history' here, and that I can say: "oh, how nostalgic, I remember when...."

There we go. Basically what I would like to say with my blabbering.
So I guess you must be my contemporary. Joining-date wise. I joined during the summer too. But there is just too many stuff for me to not feel like a newbie.
Wow, this is already five pages.
My first quest was here on this board, during a diffrent incarnation. It was very sloppy, and it did not really make any sense. I was glad that it was solo and never completed it. Though I wish to redo it later on.

What a great thread idea.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what my first thread on Althanas was. It might have been a battle with Dave the Destroyer, or Slayer of the Rot, using my strange Vinnol Findel character.

I remember judging that. I don't remember why I'd remember judging it, but I really do.
Anyways, my first judged thread on Althanas (I started two threads at the same time, hooray liquid time) was a battle with Dragon_of_Fire, with my character Marin Faith (account name Oak). The battle scored 29-17. I won, but really, we were both losers.
We later had more success with future characters, myself with Damon, Molotov, etc. and Dragon_of_Fire most notably with Bandit. I believe this was his first thread on Althanas too.
My first thread with Molotov was a citadel battle against a guy that had a gun. Molotov still beat him though, because he's smart like that.
Damon's first thread was a solo.
Jame's first thread was Time Enough, his highest score to date.
Clearly, one of my characters had a much better debut than the others.

Since no one has said anything, anywhere in days:
My first quest was finished about a month ago. *flashback* It was about My character just getting out of the water and tag along Twyla, then getting harazed by a bunch of sailors and almost getting killed by one of Melancor's brother's at sea.
sums it up. I didnt like it that much though, It was all crappy, from my side and the whole outlook on my character changed after the 25th post.

I did RhyDin! I was King Gandalf of Castle Treline! Adam did it too, he was Aneirin Gildas, General of Castle Treline. I was also Pendragon Laveria, Captain of Castle Treline; Dayhawk Grypry, Admiral of Castle Treline; and Cormorant Arcenal, Arch Knight of the Knight's Guild!
Man, RhyDin. So long ago.
My first post ever on an AOL Board was as follows: "I HAVE A POWER LEVEL OF 9999999999999999999999999999999999999 AND I AM GOING TO KILL YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !"
And just so you know, I know exactly how many nines and exclamation points I had. And yes, the only thing that saves me is that I did not have any 1's at the end.
How far we come.
My first quest on Althanas... now that's easy. I just finished it, it's right here (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=12921). :D
My first quest ever, that's somewhat further in the past, though. I remember it quite well; it was on GiveUpAlready forums, with Axandran the Black and a guy known as Pstr2blvia (weird name, yeah I know, but man, that guy was good, I've been into the RPing stuff for six years now, and I'm still not at his level of back then...). It was some kind of siege of a backwater town, nothing special. Nothing was coherent, I did not know that godmoding was forbidden, and (but this is also partly due to the nature of GUA RPing) every character was god-like in his/her own right.
Ah, good old times. I'm glad with my progress so far, though.
I think the first quest here, that I actually finished, was with my token male Maximus tVarden who was was Lunitari's bitch - I mean NIGHT Apprentice who basically bumbled around, got bitch slapped a few times and was then trapped in debris and left for dead. He was such a hopeless wuss -_-
My first quest ever... well let's just say I was questing with In Search of Schala (ISOS or Eyesuace as he perfered). If you remember that name, grats. You're an old fart like me.

Since I've seen a lot of new people, or people who have returned I feel like bumping this thread.
Tell me more.
I was reading earlier posts. 1000 is legendary? Then a thread I was in on another board must be Divine. At 15 posts per page, that thread reached over 15,000 some odd pages before it finally died, and had something in the order of over like 20,000 posts in it.
1000 legendary? No, for me, that's normal.
My first quest though was with D&D 3.0 edition. We were supposed to save this crystal orb from being stolen by the enemy. We failed, horribly. As it turned out that crystal orb could turn someone into a God, which was why everyone wanted it so bad. Never give such a quest to a bunch of level 1's.

Ah, recognition.
My first quest... hmm. My first "quests" were just random destruction, more than anything else. I think my first real quest must have been a very melodramatic story about the aforementioned destructive character trying to kill himself after losing someone dear to him on account of his rampage.
Ah, youth.

I started at GUA, and I was brought here due to the departure of Shyam from that place, along with other writing partners.
My first quest here was with Anubis and ChaosLight, two great writers who have long since moved on to different things.
It was a Scara Brae quest, and I think we were a borderline JC thread that was given a JC nod because we were in Scara Brae.

Umm... it was... the very beginning of '04 here. Scara Brae quest were Ranger wandered around looking to buy a horse. I wrote with Unseen (who went by Praenuntio back then and started the same time with me), Ciancth (who brought us to the site and was my gf at the time), and a friend of ours who was a 4 year old, 3 foot 350 pound elf who had a staff of 'bahoda' magic that could turn things into flowers when bopped on the head, but it was powered by sugar and he couldn't stop prancing. He was also the writer for "Elfetti" who fought Koran and powergamed to kill him, then pray over him to put his organs back in his stomach by the power of god...
And believe me, my first posts were... dreadful.
*Ranger walks into town up to them*
"Where can I buy a horse?"
*Nobody answers so he wanders*
Except with more grammatical errors...
EDIT: Oh, and my first battle was back with MetalDraco in order to get a score that might possibly be high enough to qualify me to join the Red Hand... I lost, with a score of 27, Draco had something like a 40, and The Solitary Soul (Now Lorenor) judged it and gave Ranger 5 copper daggers... which confused me, but I still have them under his items... hahaha

My first quest.
My first battle was with a rather crappy thing that Shyam used to make fun of me for. Because I can't willingly type it, I scored an 18 on it.
18.
And I WON the battle.
My first actual quest was with Shyam actually. Hard to believe I've been on the site about a week before him. That did better, and I like to think I've improved since my youngling days.
