Poison

Poison walked quickly through the Bazaar. Her hood was up, casting her face into shadows as the cloak swirled about her ankles. It was nearing sunset and soon many shops would be closing. She'd put this off to as close to the end of the day as she could and was hoping that she had not waited too long. Spying the shop she needed, she moved quickly through the thinning crowd and tried the handle on the door. With a sigh of relief that they were still open, Poison opened the door and went inside.

Once the door was shut behind her, she pulled the hood off her head. The shop she entered had a wide variety of things to choose from. Cloaks of many different materials hung on racks. She could see hats and helmets on mannequin heads on a shelf above her head. None of these things interested her though. The items that caught her attention were gloves. Even now, five days after her fight with James on a rooftop in Gisela, her hands were still pink from their exposure to the sun. Smiling sweetly, she walked up to the counter.

"I need a good pair of gloves. They need to be strong, but flexible and not too expensive."

Edward looked up in surprise as the shady customer entered his shop just as he was putting away some daggers that were on display. Despite the harmless face she had put on, the merchant felt a nagging sense of danger coming from the hooded girl.

"Eh, sure." He answered despite the nervous tension building inside of his guts and pulled out a tome, scanning through the articles listed for the customer's request.

"I have some good-quality Vlince gloves and a few imported Leather ones from Knife's Edge. The leather gloves have prices ranging from 75 to 80 gold pieces and Vlince gloves are about 100 gold pieces per set. If you're interested in any of them, I'll bring out some items for you to look over."

A customer is still a customer, thought the merchant as he looked up from his book. After all, he figured he still had some hours before the shop needed to be closed. Otherwise, he might be getting some other unsavory customers stopping by at the store.

Poison leaned against the counter casually.

"Leather should be adequate. I don't think I need something quite as strong as vlince."

Poison waited patiently, with the sun finally going down, she was in no rush.

Giving the customer a polite nod, the shopkeeper shifted through a shelf of gloves and brought out four pairs onto the counter.

"We have a good selection of imported Salvaran Leather, that's 80 gold a pair. Salvaran fur-lined gloves, which are a bit higher at 85 gold pieces each. Then there are locally-made tanned leather, each priced at 70 and 75 each. The latter is a bit more expensive because of it's more robust design, as you can see for yourself."

Edward did not intend to brag - he was rather certain the lady would find out the items' qualities from her own inspections.

((Note: All four of these gloves are of above average quality.))

Poison ignored the Salvaran gloves. She had no intention of spending that much gold for a pair of gloves if she did not need to. She picked up the pair of gloves that were locally tanned, and pulled them on. They fit her hand well and as she clenched her fist then stretched her fingers out, she noted that the leather was not too stiff. She pulled them off and started to pick up the other set of local gloves then paused.

Ten gold difference isn't really all that much. I suppose I may as well try them, though not the furlined.

Keeping her thoughts to herself, she picked up the cheaper pair of Salvaran leather and tried them on. They, too, fit very well.

Hmmm, decisions, decisions. They seem to be about the same. The price difference is probably because they were imported. I don't really need anything fancy, so the fur and the special design are of no use to me...

She pulled the Salvaran gloves off her hands and laid them down. Then she returned her attention to the shopkeeper as she picked up the first pair she'd tried on. True they were plain, ordinary leather, but that was really all she truly needed.

"I'll take these. I believe you said 70 gold for these, correct?" she asked with a sweet smile as she dug into her cloak for her money pouch.

"Yes indeed. That's 70 gold pieces total."

Edward nodded. It was a simple article of clothing, but for some reason he found that it sold much better than its more unique cousins.

Poison carefully counted out 70 gold pieces then put her money pouch away. Taking the gloves, she pulled them on, flexing her hands to get them adjusted.

"Perfect! Have a good night."

Turning, she pulled her hood back up over her lustrous, silver hair, and exited the shop.

"Indeed. Have a good night as well."

As soon as the young lady departed from his store, Edward hastily made his way to the door and locked it down, breathing a sigh of relief only after being sure he was not going to get anymore twilight customers.

"That does it." He muttered under his breath. "It's time I get a helper 'round these parts..."
