To my dearest and most cherished Master, may you live in darkness forever;

I have included, as per your request, all the findings relevant to my first successful experiment with the dark magicks contained inside the Grimore of Pyrovitaal which you so graciously and in your infinite wisdom provided to me.

Required Ingredients:

The freshly fallen body of a noble warrior: I was able to acquire a novice Bladesinger and kept him in captivity until time for the spell. He was given a sword to defend himself, thus falling in battle.

An arm of the angry world, ripped from the soil: A Ruilserk bloodvine fit this requirement nicely.

A fragment of the stars, cast down by the gods: A meteor fragment taken from a shrine of Galatirion was used.

A vial of black death’s draught, still potent: I was able to acquire the venom sac of a Ainastien Scorpion.

A material offering to the Watchers of All Things, that they may turn a blind eye: A Heartsblood Gemstone of significant size was offered.

A flicker of life unmortal, stepp’d willingly to the altar: I will admit my ignorance here, wisest of masters. For in truth I might never have been able to settle upon the meaning of this verse had not my ever-curious feline familiar, Vix’zythyanna, leapt upon the altar to examine the artifacts after a failed attempt at resurrection.

Resulting Minion:

Race: I must admit that I expected the mere resurrection of the corpse, however the resulting creature is both more and less than a simple undead. It is a unique form of life all its own. I am not sure if this is the intent of the spell or the result of the use of a familiar’s essence. The result was still undeniably a familiar, yet is also unequivocally undead. This has led me to classify the creature as an Undead Familiar.

Gender: The bladesinger used was male, but my familiar was female in both feline body and demonic spirit. The resulting creature is neither, from what I can see. It appears to lack the capacity to either sire or bear children, however it still seems to identify itself as female.

Body: The corpse of the bladesinger was completely consumed and the creature does not appear Elven. It is a mere five and a half feet, with somewhat fine features by human standards but not approaching Elven delicacy. The hair was lengthy at creation, already reaching its waist, and is a rather fiery coppery color. It is not an outlandish red and might be considered natural by some standards. The eyes are a deep, ruddy red that is easily mistaken for an unusual shade of brown. It is my belief the creature can pass as a human.

Also of note is the skeletal structure. My familiar is no more modest about this new form than the feline familiar had been about hers and made no objection to a thorough study of muscular and skeletal structure. The muscular reaction is fairly standard for a human, however the truly amazing part is that I have personally verified that this creature possesses a feline skeletal structure, not a human one. This allows it amazing flexibility by human standards as it simply seems able to bend in more places than humans can!

Personality: Although it seems to have none of the specific memories or personality traits of my erstwhile feline familiar, this creature seems to possess the same fanatical and unwavering devotion of any other familiar. It also seems to have retained the curiosity of the feline spirit. Somewhat paradoxically it seems to be exhibiting both the strength of character and nobility of a Bladesinger as well as the vicious and voracious single-mindedness of the Ruilserk bloodvine and has even shown glimpses of the feral aggression of the Ainastien Scorpion. Its behavior at first appeared to be very erratic and I feared that the creature was unstable, however it has been showing a definite behavior pattern. Repeated exposure to the same stimuli has resulted in similar responses with growing regularity, as the creature is settling into its skin, sort to speak.

Exhibited Skills:

I have been testing the creature against other monsters in the immediate area and I have noticed several areas in which it seems to excel.

Balance: The creature seems to have retained a feline’s natural increased spatial awareness. This has shown itself in an uncanny sense of balance and the ability to rotate in mid-fall to a more desirable landing position.

Flexibility: Because of the larger number of bones, vertebrae specifically, the creature possesses greater flexibility than most humanoids.

Nocturnal: The creature appears to greatly nocturnal, given to long naps during the day and bouts of hyper activity shortly after nightfall. The creature does not react adversely to sunlight, however it seems if it remains inactive in patches of sunlight for long periods of time it inevitably falls asleep. The creature also appears to have some form of night vision, as it reacts to the same way to the same visual stimuli in the light or dark.

Flame Affinity: Because the creature was born of the dark flames, it seems drawn to fire. Oddly enough, fire seems drawn to it. I have observed, on occasion, the creature concentrate on a candle’s flame and pull it towards its hand as if the wind were blowing.

Closing Notes:

From what I can tell it reacts adversely to holy artifacts, as any undead would. You will understand, my master, that I do not keep many with me here in my study. Natural sunlight does appear to weaken it over time, most obviously in the form of making it sleepy. It does also to give off an unholy aura that would be readily apparent to any who have sensitively to the undead. My own necromantic sense can track it from a good distance and it is my belief that a paladin or some such holy warrior would be able to do the same. However, the aura itself seems to cause living creatures no ill effects.

I have decided to call the creature Lodekai and it has already proven very useful to me in the few months that I have possessed it. I feel confidant as I write this to you that the lifespan of the creature is long enough for it to prove worth the ingredients that go into its creation. I have high hopes that such an intelligent and faithful undead minion could prove to be the cornerstone of a new and unstoppable army, to serve you of course, my most benevolent and wise Master. If there is any further information that can be of use to you in this endeavor, please do not hesitate to request it of your servant.

Eternally unworthy of my most excellent and powerful Master,
Belverouge, the Necromancer.

((OOC:

Skills at a glance:

Balance: This is an innate ability. She has the balance of your average circus tumbler and can land on her feet if given enough time and distance to rotate. Has no ranks and won’t improve. Does not grant increased agility or speed.

Flexibility: Again, innate. Her backbone is both longer and has more segments than normal. She can reach back and grab her heels and things like that. No ranks and won’t improve. Does not grant increased agility or speed.

Nocturnal: At level zero it merely means that she has a greater chance of being awake at night and has moderate night vision. As this skill increases in rank she will gain various bonuses for being awake at night.

Flame Affinity: Beginning stages of Pyrokinesis. All she can do is sway existing fires as if the wind were blowing a certain direction. Requires concentration and a few seconds of undivided attention. She cannot create or call flame, cause a flame to burn without fuel or anything like that. Just make it dance a bit.

Gear:

Knee high brown cow-leather boots
Grey woolen breeches
Grey woolen tunic
Blue woolen overcoat
Blue woolen cap

No weapons. No armor. Nothing magical.
