The Duchess of Gears
05-31-06, 06:33 PM
Given Name: Erica Adelaide Morgan Frey
Pseudonyms: Erica Morgan, Duchess, The Duchess of Gears
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Height: 5’11
Weight: Ideal
Hair Colour: Blonde
Eye Colour: Sapphire blue
Physical Description: Erica’s body is a work of art. She is tall, elegant and moves with the fluidity and confidence of a true aristocrat. Her hair is blonde and naturally falls in messy curls around her shoulders and because of this, Erica usually keeps her hair pinned up with various pins made of jewels and precious metals with her favourites being sapphires, to match the shade of her eyes. Like most aristocrats, Erica’s skin is pale and smooth, with no scars or blemishes and her body is fairly slender, yet not to the extent that it completely sacrifices its curves as a result. For her attire, Erica dons only the richest finery; long and heavy dresses made of silk and satin along with the most exquisite jewels and accessories. She favours materials of blue tones as they help to bring out her eyes, which Erica adores. However, whilst Erica is indeed beautiful, her body holds no hidden strengths but the blonde cares little about this, for physical strength is hardly as desirable as true power.
Personality: Erica is a natural leader. She’s a commanding presence, a very intelligent woman who likes both power and wealth and knows just what she needs to do to gain more of both. She is arrogant, even egotistical and extremely manipulative, happily using her ‘eligible’ label to coarse various admirers into doing as she wishes. To Erica, everything is a tool; her looks, her wit, her power, her wealth and any being that crosses her path; all of them are naught but things to be manipulated in the name of furthering her own ambition. Unsurprisingly, Erica is fond of her comforts and will only wear the best garments, travel in the best ways and stay in the best places. Above all else, Erica loves control and whilst she can cope with the occasional financial loss, she could never find the will to be submissive. She’s far too selfish for that.
Weaponry: None
Armour: None
Passive Abilities:
Engineering – During Erica’s tuition as a child, she displayed an extraordinary amount of ability in logical subjects such as maths and science and because she was good at them, Erica enjoyed them. As time wore on and Erica grew into a woman, most of her education was geared towards engineering. It might seem an odd curriculum for a lady but Erica loves to know how the world around her works as this knowledge makes her feel more powerful. At the moment, Erica is able to fix large problems with simple machines and simple problems in reasonably complex machines. However, she is unable to build objects from scratch and is unable to fix many modern devices, for example, guns.
Manipulation – Erica is a convincing liar and can easily slip her deceit into casual conversations. She has learnt to mask the few signs that gave her away as a child and no longer feels afraid of being discovered. As well as this, Erica can dominate conversations without seeming to and because of these ‘talents’, Erica has become remarkably good at bending people to her will and dispelling people’s suspicions of her. Unless the subject’s will to go against her wishes is particularly strong, it’s likely that Erica will be able to talk them into acting as her pawn.
Offensive Abilities: None
History: As the first and only child of a rich, aristocratic couple, Erica Frey was spoilt and to this day, remains that way, happily able to point at the nicest dress in a shop and have it delivered the same day. She was brought up to believe that money and status made a person and those poorer than herself were to be looked down upon and treated with civil disrespect. However, Erica soon learnt that whilst money and status were important, the right knowledge and a quick mind were the things needed to obtain them and therefore, were more important than either. This led Erica to become a hard working and efficient study, one that her tutors loved for her obedience and attentiveness.
As Erica grew, her abilities flourished. Her social etiquette and acquired knowledge transforming her into one of the most eligible woman around but beneath it all, Erica was no more pleasant than the blade of a guillotine. Those around her, lured in by her charm and status, Erica manipulated, coercing them into doing wicked deeds for her benefit, for Erica would never take such risks herself. She destroyed people with sweet words and brilliant manners, tricking them out of fortunes and treading them into the gutter. And all the while, the people around her suspected little, many even felt sorry for her, having so many of her admirers and friends turn out to be open frauds, thieves or sometimes even murderers.
Life continued this way for Erica but as the spring of this year dawned, Erica’s mother grew weary and sick and then, so did her father. Erica was sent away and happily she moved from the reaches of the obviously contagious illness to a large and spacious country estate that her father had recently purchased. Life was quieter but Erica didn’t mind, most of the servants had come with her and Erica’s life was as luxurious as ever. Then, her parents died, both of them within a week and Erica, although she’d respected them both, found that she couldn’t grieve, not when her parent’s fortune now came to rest entirely in her hands.
She returned to the city of Radasanth dressed in a black mourning gown and went through the motions of sadness and grief, as all aristocrats do when they lose people in exchange for money. Along the way, Erica slowly began to ease herself back into her manipulative ways, acquiring new ‘friends’ who believed that by comforting her, they could lay the foundations for a courtship when Erica’s mourning period elapsed. You see, Erica’s manipulative ways might sound awful, but in truth, there are very few aristocrats in Erica’s circle who wouldn’t sell their own children for the price of a beautiful stallion.
Now Erica’s uncle is sick and I’m sure you can guess what she’s hoping for.
