Name: Erithen
Age: 19
Race: Appears human
Hair Color: Grey
Eye Color: Red/Brown (one of each)
Height: 5’11
Weight:185 lbs
Personality: Erithen is very harsh to people. The only people he treats with respect are those who prove that they strong. He truly has no preference over traditional ‘right and wrong.’
Appearance: Erithen wears a grey cloak with several buckles. He also wears a patch that covers his right eye just to hide that his eye is red.
History:
Lightning flashed as the two blades meet in the clash of steel on steel. Neither side paid any heed to the deadly bolts that flashed around them. All that mattered to them was the person in front of them. Both sides retreated momentarily, only to charge right back into the fight.
Another bolt of lightning struck as the two clashed again. This time, one blade slide past the other and found soft flesh. Blood gushed out of the wound as the body suddenly lost it’s power. A sword to the head usually caused one to lose touch with reality. The victor smiled and wiped his blade clean.
“You are good… but, not enough this time.”
With a sigh, he looked up at the monks who approached. Nodding at them, he left them to their work. They would revive his opponent and some day in the future, they would cross blades again. After a few moments, he was stopped by his ‘employer’.
“Good show, good show. Now, I have a special request for your next fight. I want you to lose it.”
“Lose? Why?”
“The odds are so great that we can’t resist. Don’t worry, he will make it painless, we’ve talked to him already.”
With a sigh, Erithen nodded. After all, he couldn’t say no to the man who gave his life meaning. Before his employer found him in the wild, he just wandered around fighting whatever he could. His last wild fight was against a camp of goblins and he would have died had his employer’s group not arrived to kill them for the bounty.
The next day…
A clash of blades signaled the start of the battle. Right away, Erithen could tell he would have to actually try to lose, since his opponent was almost a complete novice in battle. I’ll have to make it look like an accident… Not wanting to make it look too obvious, Erithen pushed his opponent back with a few well aimed swings, well aimed so his opponent could black the strike.
After a few moments, Erithen decided to end the pitiful fight. He lunged forward and ‘slipped’ on the ground. As soon as he hit the ground, he expected a clean strike to the head to finish the fight. However, what he received was a slash at his side.
What’s this? It’s supposed to be quick…
Slowly, Erithen stood up while holding his side. It wasn’t a fatal wound, but if left alone for too long it would be. Quickly, he glanced to the side where his employer always stood and saw no one. What is going on? As his opponent charged at him, Erithen decided to block the blade wrong and let it hit him in the heart, where it would be a quick fatal blow. However, at the last moment, his opponent moved the blade and instead pierced a lung. As the blade was removed, his opponent smiled. Suddenly, Erithen realized the truth. He was duped from the beginning.
“You’ll… pay…”
“I think not, Erithen.”
His opponent then walked away, knowing that Erithen was as good as dead. As he lay there, Erithen swore not only revenge on those, but that he would never lose again. Soon, his sight faded and his pain went away.
As his eyes opened, Erithen saw the face of the only monk he had really ever talked to.
“You’re lucky I found you. The arena you were in was marked as un-used and not many people use it. Whoever brought you there really wanted you dead.”
“Yes… and many thanks. Next time I see either of the two that did this to me, I'm going to kill them.”
Skills:
Twin swordsmanship: Erithen is above average with using two blades at the same time.
Yami yaiba: Erithen concentrates dark magical energy into his blades. This magical power inflicts greater pain to his opponent and can sometimes cause wounds to become infected with the dark energy.
Fighter’s Pain Hold: Erithen is able to withstand more pain then most as he constantly fought for most of his life.
Illusion Eye: Erithen’s right eye is able to create small minor illusions in it’s viewable range. It’s duration and believability decrease as the distance from him increases. Also, it puts a strain on his mind, which is why he wears a patch to keep from using it.
Equipment:
Twin Dragon Blades: The blades that Erithen uses are steel swords with dragons engraved on the blades. They are also in tune with his magical powers so he uses them as amplifiers for his spells.
