We join our favorite ice elf for this episode in the beautiful streets of Donnalaich. It's somewhere at a quarter past one in the afternoon as she makes her way out one of the more popular taverns, having knocked back at least a good handful of gold worth of rum. If it were not for her glasses she would have never been able to walk in such bright mid day sunlight from store to store.
Mia had been in Dheathain for a good portion of time now, having joined the bandits and even with the ongoing construction of the group, she easily found ways of slipping out to explore. Today was the market district of the majestic Fae city. She had already explored the better parts of the swamp, but here she found something that she really wasn't expecting.
These soft, gentle creatures reminded her an amazing deal of her own people. Their laughter and innocence, artistic nature and even their features. Her heart sank only to rise, believing once more in the world. Somewhere inside she thought of pledging her assurance that she would never harm these people, let alone allow anyone else to.
A word would have to be had with Kyo and Molotov to the extent of that, but that was for another time. Today she was here to seek enjoyment and new curiosities to add to her growing collection. It was in one shop that her interest became fixed.
Synthesis Shop
A pure look of intrigue crested her brow as she gazed upon the glittering sign surrounded by many tiny crystalline statues of just about anything. As Mia moved closer she could see through the large windows to see the many unique items on display, though not much else as there were just so many cluttering the window that she could only imagine what curios were housed inside.
With a soft burp and a blush from the return of her lunchtime meal, she slowly turned the door handle and entered. The store was a welcome change from the bright sunlit streets as she closed the door behind her. Around her were all manner of interesting trinkets on countless shelves and stands.
A soft whistle escaped her lips out of sheer wonderment as she scanned everything.

Lasair quietly hummed to herself. Her voice was filling her own ears as well as echoing out the confines of the cabinet and into her store. She should probably be keeping an eye out for customers, but instead she found herself crawling around on the ground, sticking her head and half her body into a cupboard in search of something she swore she put in here months ago but couldn’t find now. Even her tiny little bum was sticking up in the air as she continued to rummage around, tossing out the occasional crystal and small jar of something or other. Ohh, there even a piece of raw Prevalida that she’d forgotten she had and was probably going to use it for something...oh well. She supposed it wasn’t important any longer.
Sadly for her, a small little bit of dust seemed to have tickled her nose and she was unfortunately not able to stop the sensation. With a sharp a quick intake of air, she let out one of the cutest sneezes anyone had probably ever heard which resulted in a number of different things really. Her whole body went a little tense and her head drew forward, slamming into the back of the cupboard with a loud, followed by a soft and whimpering ‘ow’. The other thing was her wings flutter uncontrollably on her back and created a light shower of shimmering dust that fell over her dress and onto the floor.
Moaning softly at her bumped head, Lasair slowly pulled herself out of the cupboard and sat back on the floor, rubbing her forehead. After a few seconds, she realized she wasn’t alone and found her eyes wondering over to an elfin lady with very pretty looking hair.
Immediately she leapt to her feet, which might not have been a good thing as her head became very light and her vision clouded over in spots, making her wobble a bit. She babbly something or other before steadying herself by grabbing a hold of the side of a nearby bookshelf, then shook herself and turned back to her customer.
“Can I help you with something?”

Such brick'a'bracks that littered the walls and shelve, wonders and oddities of all shapes. Mia's near unending curiosity was stalled when the sound of something like a sneeze and a fist on a table sounded from behind the counter. Within moments of a soft exclamation of pain did one of the more cute Fae she had seen stood quickly before her.
The ice elf could barely contain a smile as she looked at the small red mark growing on the proprietor's forehead. Her wings were fluttering softly as her dress was covered in what looked like very fine glitter. Mia approached the counter slowly as she continued to look around.
“um, high,” she said with a slightly unsure voice,” I'm, well...This is going to be a hard question to find an answer too, but I'm looking for something unique. Something that very few people in Althanas would have.”
It was there as she finally stood at the counter that something made her eyes widen. Across the gap of the door to the back room walked something she never, ever expected to see.
A cute little plushie pulling a hammer across the floor.
Her eyes blinked a few times as her mind tried to really grasp what she was seeing.
“uh....was that a plushie pulling a hammer across your floor or did someone slip something into my drink?” Mia asked, her mind ready to burst from the wonder.

Lasair turned and looked at Godhand, who was currently holding a hammer above his head and taking it into the backroom. He was going to fix one of her shelves that had fallen apart due to her running into it for the fifth time. She still had the bruise on her arm and her leg, which hurt whenever she moved them a certain way.
“Nope, no one slipped anything into your drink as far as I know. That was definitely my Godhand plushie.” She said rather proudly. “I have two others, Tristram and Avery, but they’re probably helping Godhand fix the shelf I broke earlier today so I don’t think you can see them right now.”
The woman had not really specified what she wanted Lasair to make her, though it appeared to the small Fae that the woman may be drunk, or at least almost drunk. Her body had that certain disposition to it where it wobbled a bit and her speech was kind of funny.
“So...umm, what would you like for me to Synthesize for you?”

Truly Mia had entered a place of wonder. Her eyes were wide as she thought over the words of the Fae proprietor. There was certainly some strange answer for this experience and the ice elf really wanted to know. Were they simply animates? Costumes on gnomes? Or even demons?
“Uh, I...um...uh...three of them?” Mia could barely comprehend it “How? I mean, are they like possessed or something? Did you make them?”
The words spilled from her lips like a mouthful of water, in her eyes was even a soft glint of total amazement.

The small Fae laughed at the woman who seemed clearly far more interested in her plushies than actually getting her to synthesize anything for her. She could understand her curiosity though, plenty of people thought they were extremely interesting. Others thought they were freaks and some just well, thought they were downright weird. Even Godhand himself had been rather taken aback by the plushie she had created in his image so she could understand why the woman was so fascinated with it.
“They’re not possessed, they live and breathe and think and they feel pain just like any other living creature.” Lasair told her. “Though I’m not willing to disclose the entire process needed to create them, I use something from the person they’re made to represent, usually a small cloth stained in their blood, and from there they take on that person’s personality and all of their memories. Sadly, they do not have a soul, so I am unsure what exactly would happen to them should their bodies be completely destroyed, but they’re more than just animated dolls. They think and they feel and I created them to protect me and keep me company while I’m outside of Dheathain.”
The sound of hammering could be heard coming from the back room, quickly followed by a few shouts and then some bangs. Lasair only smiled, figuring that Tristram had said something to piss off Godhand again, who had probably pulled out that funny little bulldog or bulldozer move he loved to use so much on the Draconian. The one where he slammed him right in the gut and brought him down to the ground in a crash, whee! It was so much fun to watch.

There was a moment of silence as they listened and the gears churned inside her skull. Mia's glasses had slid down the bridge of her nose as her violet eyes stared off into that odd space like cats do. Lasair was clearly an far more excellent shop owner than any the ice elf had ever run into before.
The little sparks of imagination and thoughts continued to fire through her mind. It was well known, even to Mia, that she had an issue of getting herself into trouble. Besides, It would be so freakin awesome to have a little helper of her own. In the past she had wanted a nice little familiar, maybe a war cat or a moose or something fancy like a creeping tree'ent.
“So...would...like...a...” Mia trailed on the A sound for a moment “drawing or something charged with a bit of the original's spiritual essence? Like a crystal or something, work?”
It was a long shot, but a hope that maybe this cute little Fae would make the ice elf's day, heck, even her month.

“Hmmm...spiritual essence?”
The small Fae became contemplative as her eyes clearly began seeing something that the elf before her could not.
“I don’t see why not, spiritual essence is as much a part of someone as the blood that runs through their veins, perhaps even more so. I’ve never tried it, so I’m not entirely certain what the outcome may be, but in my mind I can see it being successful.”
Did this mean that the woman wanted her to make a plushie for her? No one had ever asked her to make a plushie for them before! Off, this was going to be so much fun! Plenty of people had commented on her little companions, but no one had ever liked them so much that they’d actually wanted to get one made of one of their friends or loved ones.
“You want me...to make you...a plushie?” Lasair asked rather tentatively.

Truly the alcohol was out of her to the point at which she was functioning as much as Mia normally does when the ice elf couldn't help but bounce up and down a little.
“Yes! I want a plushie too!” her voice was nearly too ecstatic for her own good as her hair flew around her heavily nodding head. After a moment she calmed down and coughed just a little “ ummm, sorry I can get a little excitable. So yeah, could I get one of a White Tiger? And if you have a simple crystal I can get the essence part while you work on the rest of her.”
Mia really couldn't have been happier, even if it was all you could drink and eat night at the local tavern. Finally she might have a little bit of help with all her forgetting.

Lasair giggled as she watched and listened to the antics of the woman. She was so cute when she was jumping up and down and full of excitement as if Lasair had just given her the best thing in the world. And truth be told she hadn’t even made anything for her yet. Just briefly explained to her a few things about synthesizing plushies. Considering how complex a plushie was—it really was alive—they were rather simple to make so the fact that the woman wanted one meant an easy job for Lasair. After all, she already knew the outcome of synthesizing one!
“Well, in order for you to get a plushie, you’ll need a few things else besides the essence of this...White Tiger. You’ll need some materials in order to make the plushie, after all.” Lasair said to her as she began to thinking. She had no idea what a White Tiger was, but it sounded like an animal. She’d never synthesized a plushie animal before. Oh well, hopefully it would go over well.
“I’m not sure what a White Tiger is...but you’ll definitely need cloth and cotton. Just pick the cloth in whatever colours you want, I usually use Vlince for my synthesizing because it resists tearing and sharp implements. And let’s face it, my plushies get in a lot of trouble. You’ll only need half a yard of the stuff and then about a handful of cotton for the stuffing. The crystal for the essence you can get in the waterfall in this very shopping district, there’s a cave back there that’s free to take crystals from as needed. We all do it! Oh, and a small amount of raw steel would help too, white tigers are animals right? They have claws and teeth yes? Then I’ll make them with the raw steel.”

“Cool, I'll be right back then!” the ice elf chirped as she turned and exited the small shop.
Thankfully she knew a few shortcuts to get down to the docks, and then it was only a matter of finding a fast ship to Corone, then from there she ran full tilt to the nearest craft store, purchased the items as well as something she felt would help after the cute little fae had told her that she lacked knowing what a white tiger was.
With the bundle of cloth, cotton filling and a nice chunk of steel she returned to the shop, having been gone for nearly a week she ran through the streets of Donnalich till she once again entered the palace of wonders known as the synthesis shop.
“Hellooooooo” she called as she returned, “It's me again.”
Aproaching the counter she set the small bundle down as well as the steel before procuring the book from her bag “I brought you something too!”

The sudden and loud shout from Mia was followed by a loud thud and then some possible cursing in a language she probably didn’t understand. Well, it was either cursing or somebody was mumbling gibberish to themselves, not that you were about to find out which one it was any time soon.
Lasair slowly emerged from behind the curtain, her favourite little hiding spot when she didn’t have any customers. Mostly because she just liked practicing her synthesizing when no one was around and waiting on results. It made it less stressful when she screwed up and the item happened to implode, explode or generally just go awry right before her very eyes. One of the reasons Tristram kind of headed for the hills whenever she did any synthesizing. He had been on the receiving end of too many items gone wrong in the past, so he tended to shy away from the whole thing.
Seeing who was on the other side of the counter brought a quick smile to Lasair’s face and made her stop rubbing the side of her head.
“Oh, elf girl!” Lasair said rather cheerfully to her, then she noticed all of the things on the table and immediately the wings on her back perked right up. It was synthesizing time. “What did you bring me?”

The bright eyed Fae returned after a thump, which made Mia giggle a little. She held out the book to Lasair with a smile.
“You mentioned that you didn't know what a white tiger was, so I thought I would get you a book full of animals in case anyone asks you for something like it again!” Mia said, giving the book to the fae. “well any way, heres all those materials except for the crystal with the essence, but I figured It might take you a bit to stitch it or something, and it will only take me about fifteen minutes to get the the essence ready for ya.”
So with that Mia left once again, dodging through the crowd and around the waterfall, taking only a few moments to find the amazing cave holding the final piece for her new best friend. A few moments she took, feeling her way through the cave by the way of her secondary senses, searching for that one that just felt right.
Then with crystal in hand she sat, her mind reaching out into the other side. To the place of her strength. Serenity sat waiting for the ice elf on a nice snowy capped rock, her white fur melting with the perfect snow while her stripes merged into the star filled sky above.
From high above them fell a single glowing snowflake, melding into the crystal within Mia's hands, charging it with her guides essence. With a quick conversation between girls, Mia returned to the mortal world, the crystal glowing softly within her hands.
At nearly a dead jog the elven girl returned to the quaint shop, opening the door as quietly as she could so that she wouldn't startle the Fae that she was now going to put so much faith in.
“I got her essence” She spoke fairly quietly.

Lasair couldn’t believe that the elf girl had brought her back a book! Oh, it was so nice of her, she couldn’t remember the last time anyone she synthesized for brought her back anything. Actually, she was rather certain that no one ever brought her gifts for her synthesis. They just grabbed their stuff and off they went. This was so very thoughtful of her. And she could even use this one over and over again to help her with her synthesis.
Grabbing the book, Lasair immediately began leafing through her, her mind absorbing the pictures and the bits of information written underneath bout each animal. Her head was like a giant library and she was at this moment creating another book to be placed in that library, one that didn’t have to do solely with Dheathain. One that had animals from all over Althanas. But she still had a job to do and she needed to get to work on it before the elf came back with the crystal and the essence.
Turning to the page with the white tiger information, Lasair grabbed her sewing kit from under the counter and pulled all the material towards her, all the stuff except for the raw steel. She didn’t need that yet. She was actually rather good at sowing, but she didn’t need this to look perfect, not right now, the synthesis process would fix this. Still, she began stitching together a rough outline for the shape of the tiger, making the creative right around 12 inches in length, excluding its tail.
Lasair was just finishing up the last bit of the stitching—Vlince wasn’t the easiest material to stitch—when the elf girl came back into the shop with the last ingredient.
“Okay! I’m running off to the back room, I’ll be back in a moment.” Lasair said to her.
Taking the crystal, the raw steel and the rough plushie she had already made and stuffed, the small Fae quickly disappeared behind the thick curtain. A few minutes passed and nothing seemed to happen, then sudden a bright and blinding white light filtered out from the curtain, possibly and momentarily robbing sight from the poor elf girl. It lingered for a moment or two and then disappeared, leaving the shop once again in a relative state of darkness. Then Lasair slowly emerged from the back curtain. In her hands, she gingerly held a twelve inch, beautifully made replica of the white tiger that the elf had shown her. The pure white fur stood out greatly against all the dark in her shop and intermittent black stripes seemed to appear within it, breaking it up into a rather cute pattern. The teeth and claws, though white in colour, were actually made of the raw steel and had the strength of steel and the crystal was now safely tucked away within the cotton insides of the plushies.
Coming up to the counter, Lasair reached out and laid the white tiger plushie down and then looked at the elf with a smile.
“It worked.” She said softly, knowing from experience that yelling and overly excited calls after making a plushie were made. “Your tiger should make up any time now.”

There had been a few new additions to the stock within the small shop that Mia took the short moment to look at while she waited. Well, that was until the blinding light cut through the dark shop like a knife.
Ow...
that is the one issue with ice elves, living so far north their eyes are always behind glasses too keep from snow blindness, but here her eyes had grown more accustomed to the darker shades of the world. Thankfully it only lasted a few moments, and with a series of blinks to clear her eyes the ice elf was finally able to see the Fae when she re-emerged from the back room.
The look upon her pale face must have been perfect, her eyes a glitter with amazement of what this little Fae could do in such a short time. Between them was the product of both girl's work, a beautiful avatar of Mia's predominant spirit guide.
“Oh wow!” was all she could really say. It was rare for her to be caught so silent, but then again, her mind was taking in every detail of this new picture of someone she had truly known forever.
It was then that Serenity let out a small yawn, forcing the ice elf to blink once more in disbelief. Her hands reaching out and picking up her plushie like it was a normal cat to look at it in the eyes.
“Serenity?” Mia asked with a risen brow.
“no...Renalda Renee the thirty second...” the small plushie said while giving the elf as much a disapproving look as possible.
“oh my gods!” she screamed before hugging the small feline tightly to her chest.
“ow...you're...squishing...me...”Serenity said in a muffled voice before claws and teeth met skin in a firm but not really damaging manner “Mia!”
With a short yowl of surprised pain Mia half tossed Serenity onto the counter, “bloody 'ell...sorry.”

Lasair giggled as she watched the elf girl interact with her new companion, a companion that Lasair got to make for her. She didn’t know who was happier about the whole thing, her or the elf. It was nice to make one of her special dolls for someone other than herself, though she had never thought about including them as items in her synthesis shop. She did it for herself after all. A bit of a selfish indulgence so that she could always keep her friends close to her and have someone there to protect her when she got in trouble and that tended to happen rather often. Their interaction was quite cute together, something that reminded her of how she had first met and woken up her Tristram plushie. Though Godhand waking up had been the best of all, especially considering how Godhand had reacted to the tiny version of himself.
Reaching out, Lasair ran her fingers through the soft fur of the creature that was called Serenity. The little white tiger seemed quite appreciative of the treatment, much more than the suffocating hug that the elf had given it.
“Just keep in mind,” Lasair began to tell her, “That.. err...Serenity will feel as you feel. She’ll get tired and she’ll get hurt just like any real person. The crystal you gave me is sitting within what would be her stomach, or umm chest maybe. It’s surrounded by cotton and should be well protected, but if the crystal is ever destroyed or removed from the plushie’s body for too long, then the plushie will die... or what I suppose is the closest thing to death that a plushie can undergo. Bring it back to me and I can fix it, though I suggest getting a small sewing kit you can use to repair minor injuries to the plushie yourself. That way you won’t need to travel here every time she loses a paw.”
Pulling her hand away from the rather happy looking plushie, Lasair looked up at the elf smiling.

After shaking her hand for a moment she giggled along with Lasair, the humor of it all striking her. Mia grew quiet but still a truly happy smile stayed upon her lips as she watched Serenity purr and work into the Fae's gently caresses. The words she let burrow deep into her mind, which she knew would be important. Then again she was lucky cause she had a sewing kit already in her backpack. As Lasair's words finished, Mia paused but a moment before pouncing, her arms wrapping around the small Fae.
“Oh my gods thank you thank you!”She said happily before stopping, her body halfway on the counter “uh...you know, I never did ask for your name?”
Serenity gave the Ice elf one of those, “what the hell is wrong with you?” looks that seemed rather cartoonish on her plushie face.
“Mia...Mia!...MIA!” Serenity grew louder till the ice elf reacted.
“huh?” Mia said quizzically.
“Calm down and let the Fae go...” she answered with her usual voice of command.
With a soft whimper she did as she was told.
“uh sorry...Miss fae person....” Mia said with a bit of shame.

Lasair let out a high little squeak as the small elf girl just tried to leap right over the counter and get at her. And really, she did a good job of making it onto the counter but not so much over it, even though it was rather low to account for her size. Honestly though, she didn’t mind, it just surprised her. It was usually her leaping over counters and such things, trying to hug people, but here she found the tables were turned.
Smiling, the small Fae hugged the elf back tightly, trying to keep her wings flat on her back so that he woman didn’t unintentionally squish them. They were rather sensitive after all. As they continued to stay there for a moment with each of them just kind of cuddling the other to death, the little white tiger thing started calling out to the Fae to let her go and reluctantly Mia did. It was a bit disappointing to Lasair as she had been enjoying it. All good things must come to an end though.
“Oh, umm... my name is Lasair Anubail.” She said to Mia with a large smile. “And I didn’t mind the hug.”
Proving so to the woman, Lasair did the same thing and pounced right on the small elf. Sadly for both of them, the Fae had just enough strength to knock Mia backwards and then kind of did a bit of a tumble off the counter and onto the floor. Good thing it wasn’t a far drop. Bad thing, Lasair landed on top of Mia.
“Ah...er...sorry.” She said to the woman as she shook her head and started getting off her.
Mia leaves with a plushie of Serenity, a twelve inch white tiger (excluding the three inch tail). She is made of vlince with cotton fur, cotton stuffing and a small crystal inside of her. Her claws and teeth are made of steel, though respectively their colours are black and white.
Mia also receives 200 experience, Lasair receives 125.
