"Yeah, you heard exactly right!" Chromanon said, her voice piping up above the mumurs that floated from the merchant carts that surrounded them. She disregarded the incredulous look the potions and amulet seller was giving her. After all her adventures, she was pretty much used to it.

"I need something I can wear that's going to protect me from cooties."

"Oh, I've got just the thing," Cyril sneered, and sprang up from his chair. He'd just managed to expand into five new shops in the past week, and he was an incredibly good mood. Chuckling to himself as he moved into and through his new shop from the stand outside, he strolled to through the back of the apothecary shop. On the way out the back door, he snatched a little leather pouch on his way out.

"Please sir...at least - at least let me work in my shop again!" A quick look of surprise shot across the merchant's face as the door swung shut. He hopped away from the feeble, grasping hand, and grinned down at the aging alchemist.

"Eh, what? No, I don't think so. This is my place."

"You took it by force!" The old man protested, and gasped when the blond man's hand snatched his own.

"I'll use more fucking force if you don't get the fuck away from me." Cyril's face had gone blank, but with a notable intensity in his eyes. A snapping sound came from his hand, and the old man gasped, collapsing further on the ground he had been laying on. The merchant flung the broken hand away, knelt down, and scooped some dirt into the bag.

"If you're here when I get back, I'll kill you," he whispered, and ducked back into the shop. By the time he'd reached the stand, he was wearing his smile again.

"Kiddo, you're in luck, we're having a sale on some good stuff! Here ya go..." He leaned over the cart and hung the bag around the kendergoyle's neck. "Just fifteen crowns."

"Fifteen crowns!?" she gasped as she hefted the bag from where it hung around her neck. It was lighter than she thought, and the price was all sorts of wrong. Wrinkling her nose, she placed the bag firmly on the counter and pointed at Cyril.

"I don't think you understand. Do you know how much stronger cooties are these days? I need something heavy, something a little shiney, and obviously more expensive." Her eyes slid to where a small wooden amulet was hanging, colored glass marbles placed within oaken cages along the inside of a carven sun. "That looks like cooties might not like it. What does it do?"

"Oh my, I suppose you're right. They've mutated into juggernauts since my day," Cyril replied, trying to keep his face as grave as possible. A huge, dark grin was threatening to break the facade, but he fought it back on will alone. The kendergoyle pointed out a trinket he'd forgotten all about, hanging alone from one of the stand's posts. The merchant blinked, staring at it blankly.

Honestly, he had no idea what it was beside from a knick-knack. Lifting it off the peg, the marbles rattled quietly in their little wooden cages, and he held it before his face. Digging through his pockets, he produced an enchanted magnifying piece, and popped it into his eye. Squinting, he look the talisman over, again and again, but could find nothing. Instantly, he smiled widely.

"My, my, you've got quite the eye on you, young lady. What we have here is the Mother of All Cootie Charms. You see, these little gems act as a powerful catalyst against unwanted cootie germs. The sun here even acts as a symbol of good luck. I'll let it go for, I suppose, eighty crowns, since it seems as though you're in dire need of it's purposes. And I'll tell you what; you can even have the talisman around your neck for just ten crowns; as an extra bit of added insurance, don't you know."
