Well, I just started trying to get back into the swing of things here, and for some reason found that I could no longer access althanas.com on my computer. But when I use a free proxy (as I am right now), I can access it. What's going on?

Hmm...sounds like an interesting problem. I'm going to go ahead and assume you haven't done anything to get your IP banned by Althanas, and since I can access the site just fine from work and home, I would say the problem is something on your end.

Perhaps you, your parents, or someone else using your computer has been trying to get crafty with parental control tools or web-filtering software? Maybe your ISP hates play-by-post roleplaying sites?

I'm just tossing around wild, ridiculous guesses really. It's kind of hard to diagnose computer issues when you can't physically see the problem in action.

On a side note, glad to see you're trying to make a comeback.

Thanks for the welcome and the brainstorming, but I'm living in rez and no one uses this computer but me. Also, I could access the site just fine a couple days ago.

tried clearing your cookies. that's the first thing I do when net weirdness hits and it usually works.

I had a very similar problem, I tried signing into Althanas and the board kept auto-signing me out instantaneously. It's happened to me before, the easiest solution for me is to swap browsers (I'm in Firefox now) that almost always clears up the issue.

Your problem may not be exactly the same, but it couldn't hurt to try it out.

I can't access althanas.com either. The home page link just sends me to the /world. I told Santh the other day, but he said to get back to him... that was 4 days ago and I forgot until just now. Bring it up to him or Serilliant I suppose...

For no readily apparent reason, my problem has resolved itself. So unless anyone else has the same/similar problem, I guess this thread can be closed. Thanks all!

I can't access althanas.com either.

It was an .htaccess redirect that I did when there was a problem with the forum software. After fixing it, I forgot to get rid of the redirect. It's fixed now.

It's generally a better idea to let me know when there are issues like that rather than Santh. Most of the forum's technical things I have done myself.

As far as the inability to access the site, we do have several hundred IPs that are blocked. It could be that one of your university IPs has been added to a blacklist, and you were randomly assigned it when you connected to the university ISP. If it happens again, make note of the IP address you were assigned, and send me an IM or PM and I can unblock the address.

Well, the issue has arisen once more. I can't access althanas.com, althanas.net, or any of the subforums without using a proxy. The problem with the proxy is I can't make a post that's longer than a few lines with it

My IP is 142.151.144.239 if that helps. I'd greatly appreciate any assistance here, because I want to get back to RPing.
