I would appreciate it if her level and gp were restored since I worked very hard to create her.)
Name: Kari
Age: Ageless
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 94 pounds
Race: Unknown
Appearance: Kari has long blonde hair that frames her slight features. It pools around the bottom of her waist and hangs limply. A long, green bow ties back the front part of her hair, making her look more like a child than the ageless being she is. Light blue eyes lighten her facial features and contrast with her creamy skin. Her face is that of a young child but there is a certain light in her eyes that reveal the wisdom of years passed. A small build matches her child like features perfectly.
Kari wears a simple, long sleeved green dress that reaches just above her ankles, revealing her shoeless feet. The dress itself is plain, but is a striking green color that once more contrasts with her skin and hair, lighting her eyes. A necklace of strange craft is seen upon her neck. The necklace is made of silver with an amethyst sitting atop a crystal. The two stones are bound to each other in a silver bond, reflecting the sunlight from the crystal.
Aside from her simple beauty-like appearance, there is one thing that causes people to look twice at her. A glowing, violet symbol upon her forehead is often overlooked but causes a double take effect on most beings. The symbol is that of an ancient language long forgotten and none see it long enough to attempt to decipher its meaning. The symbol only appears at her will if she sees reason to reveal it, usually when performing a ritual.
Items: Kari carries a variety of items of different purpose and meaning. A collection of books written in an ancient forgotten tongue adorns every page and it seems when she is reading it only she can see the words. Kari reads the books while walking in such a way that passerby's can only get a short glimpse of a corner of a page before looking away for unknown reasons.
As a minstrel, Kari specializes in her own instrument. A violin carved from cherry wood with a bow strung by human hair is her craft and instrument. Often she is seen playing in a secluded area of a forest by those traveling in secret. Her music is heard throughout the wood and is a rare, sweet sound to be heard. The music she plays outside of inns and taverns is less sweet and harsher, fitting her music to her listeners.
Not so much an item as a companion, Kari has a creature called a moon falcon. A moon falcon is a bird that is pure black but with a shimmering light that surrounds it. When it spreads its wings at night, a light is freed from its wings and spreads around in front of it, guiding Kari in the dark. The falcon she named Nieninque and it travels as her companion wherever she may go.
Skills: Aside from being a minstrel, Kari has other skills as well. Beauty and charm always play a role in her life when dealing with strangers. A simple look and tilt of her head can do wonders when dealing with people.
Swift feet and nimble body allow her to move silently and unseen by ear and eye. None can see her if she chooses not to be seen and even if she were careless it would take great skill and perception to acknowledge her presence before she reveals herself.
Kari has the unique ability of moon dance. Whenever the moonlight touches a stream, Kari is drawn to it, a strange light shining in her eyes. Once there, her bare feet touch the water and she seems to either walk or float gracefully above its surface. Her eyes reflect the moonlight in her eyes and she begins to dance as if in ritual. No one is quite sure what her dance is for or what it does, however her eyes never seem to question anything she does. Only one person is known to have seen her act as such and so it remains more of a rumor than a fact.
Perhaps one of her skills she keeps hidden most is her ability to read minds. Seldom will she do it but it tells much about a person when she does. It is not as much as what they are thinking than what they are feeling. Her power allows her to read persons' emotions and understand them a bit better than most.
Armor: Kari wears no armor except her dress.
Weapons: A yew recurve bow is hidden from view behind a deep green cloak she sometimes wears. It is curved in such a way to allow her agility in her movements as she strikes and never seems to get in her way. A quiver with 20 arrows is also hidden beneath the cloak, each arrow made of yew as well.
Twin daggers made of steel are always at her side even if her bow is not. They are attached to a strap on the side of her dress that allows easy access to them. Each dagger is approximately six inches long. The hilts of the daggers are a simple bronze color with no markings except a single symbol. The symbol carved in the daggers is said to be the same as that which rests upon her forehead but because so few have seen it, this as well remains a rumor. Her ability is only slightly above average, but is sure to progress with more training.
Spells: Along with her weapons, Kari has a few spells she uses. One spell she uses has no given name but is used to weave. A silky type thread folds and billows from her palms, allowing her to collect it and spin a dress with. Usually this is only used with her work as a seamstress; however it is possible to be used as a defense to protect herself in a cocoon from her enemy or attempt to tie them up. The thread has the ability to grow stronger in the future but for now it is merely able to distract someone long enough for her to escape.
Kari's other spell is forest manipulation. Calling the power within herself and the forest, she can summon the strength of her surroundings and use them to her advantage. She can weave the forests' strength and power to her own use such as uprooting a tree or creating a barrier of leaves around herself. While the forest is hers to bend, she does not abuse this power. Only if she feels it is truly necessary will she call forth the strength of the forest and therefore usually relies upon her other skills to help her.
History (Kari's POV): My history, if one can call it as such, differs from most stories you will find. I was not bon in the natural way, that is, between a man and a woman. I did not grow nor form inside a womb of a woman and cannot recall a "mother" or "father" of any sort. I seemed to have merely appeared one day. It was as if I looked around one day and realized I was there. Whether or not there was some process prior to my existence, I am unsure of this. All I know is that I am here and have been for quite some time.
I do not remember having anything known as a "childhood". I do not believe I had one at all and if I did I can surely not remember it. I seem to have merely sprung up from the very heart of a forest one day and merely existed as I appear today. How I adapted to such a change I will not say, for it is not only because I wish not to tell you but I will not speak.
Upon my coming into the world I learned something very important early on. Beings everywhere, bustling about their business were always so loud. They were always screaming and making noise, harming the ones with sensitive hearing. It was then, before I had even uttered a word, that I realized how foolish they all sounded in their garbled speech. So difficult was it to understand what one individual was saying I did not even bother to attempt to decipher their meanings. The things they spoke about seemed of no great importance and I wondered why they spoke at all. I did not dwell on it for too long because that was when I decided to merely not speak at all. I figured if I spoke, I would turn out no better than them and it was far better to keep my silence then to part my lips and have nothing of value to say. I have remained silent ever since.
I lived my life drifting from place to place throughout time. I never stayed in the same place for too long, so strange I appeared to be to others. A part of my "life" was spent dwelling in the forest, where I found I could exist with the life around me quite well. The trees and plants offered me life and in return I offered them safety. I formed a symbiosis with the forest and ever since have never strayed far from it. I gave protection to the forest by offering my defense (by this time I had acquired a small supply of weaponry whether by forging it or being in the right place at the right time) and in return it gave me shelter and life.
Many years later, I came across a creature I had never seen before in my wood. The being called herself Neelahn and she was dying. She looked at me with pain filled eyes and presented me with an instrument she held clutched to her chest. She spoke to me explaining the history of the instrument and hers as well. Neelahn told me what would happen upon her death and gave me her instrument to keep safe. I understood little of what she was talking about but I took the instrument anyway. Once the wood touched m hands, a transformation occurred within it. No longer was I looking at a lute but a violin in its place. A bow seemed to appear from nowhere in my hand and I looked at it in awe. I turned back to Neelahn's body to find it slowly dissolving into the ground, her spirit returning to the forest. I knew then just what she had given me: she had transferred my spirit from hers into the violin. I was now its new keeper. My "soul" would be bound to this instrument and it to me but not in the way as Neelahn. My life would not depend on its safety and I was thankful for that. I could not be so protective of something I barely knew anything about.
More years past and I learned quickly of how to play the instrument. Gone was the doubt of its origin and my own doubt about anything. I became a minstrel of my own make and traveled through forests and towns alike playing for people and plants. I learned to change songs to suit my audience and it gave me an even more mysterious persona that usual.
I found that my time in the forest caused me to notice everything around me. The skills of plants I suddenly felt as my own and a power brewed within me. I had soon acquired the skill of weaving and from my palms formed a thread so unlike any I had seen before. With this I began to create finery for people in towns and they appeared awed by this new development. I paid it little mind. This was merely an experiment to see how the world would react to me. Their questioning stares and whispered words answered that for me.
The rest of my history I shall not write and never speak for it is mine and my own. I tell you now to believe what you wish about what I have said for I shant try to sway you in either direction. I do not hold the ability to convince you nor do I wish to possess it. Take my words for what they are but do not judge me from this. That is all I have to write.
