(I had 500 experience with this character before the crash.)

Name: Renault Nox

Race: Human

Age: 25

Height 6’0”

Weight: 200lbs.

Hair Color: Jet Black

Eye Color: Golden

Appearance: With his jet black hair and golden eyes, Renault’s very presence is disturbing. His hair is kept combed back, and seems some-what well taken care of. His outfit is simple, black pants with a white T-shirt. He usually wears his favorite blue jacket slightly unbuttoned, so that his T-shirt may be seen. Often times there’s a blood stain on it.

Personality: Cold would be a good way to describe Renault. Why the man acts the way he does is a mystery, but he has no problem with resorting to bloodshed when the need arises. In fact, he is more than happy to. Perhaps somewhere deep inside Renault has some twisted view of what he calls “morals,” but if there are any they are not very apparent to the outside world. The best way to some up the man would be in his smile. It’s not one of those happy or cocky smiles. It looks just plain sinister.

Weapons: Renault carries with him one single steel katana. It has been his companion through several battles, and he doesn’t plan to part with it anytime soon. The blade is shorter than that of most katanas, extending only about three feet. The hilt adds about another 8 inches or so. Although this sacrifices some power when it comes to fighting, the shortened size of the sword does allow Renault to wield the blade with just one hand.

Items: None.

Skills:

Sword Skills: Renault does not have any magic tricks (at least not yet anyways). Instead, he has one thing. His sword. Although his skills are nowhere near perfect (they’re very far from it), his skills are enough to show that he has had some practice with his blade. Experts will best him in an instant, but there is certainly potential in the man.

History: Sinister, evil, cold, heartless. All terms used to describe men like Renault Nox. Whether the man’s nature is something that he was just born with, or something that was acquired through his life is unknown. One thing is for sure though; Renault is not a man to be hassled with.

Born into a simple family of farmers, Renault lived a very simple life. There was nothing special or tragic about it. There was no catastrophic burning of his homeland, or plague that forced the man on a solitary journey. It was a simple and happy life, but far too peaceful for the man known as Renault Nox.

After reaching 21, Renault had a decision to make. He could either stay with his family and live a simple farmer’s life, or leave and find another path to travel. True, it would not be heroic or famous to live the life of a farmer, but he would be a happy man. His name would not be written down in books detailing epic battles, but neither would he suffer from want or starvation. He could find a nice woman, and raise a nice family. It wouldn’t have been such a bad life.

The other path was one that was not so certain. He could leave his family, and find another path to follow. What the path would be was unknown at the time, but there was something in this path that was absent from the path of a farmer. Adventure. The life of a farmer would be mundane, but to cast everything aside and strike his own path through life would never be dull. There was no certainty in what would happen down this path, and perhaps that was what appealed to Renault. Maybe it was the sense of adventure or the possibility of fame. Whatever the case was, Renault left everything he ever knew behind him, and struck out alone into the world.

For two years Renault wandered the land, attempting to find his true calling. The man tried many jobs, all of which were boring. Whether it be bartending or painting, nothing satisfied the man. Every task Renault took he found boring. There was just no excitement in any “citizen” job. But Renault would eventually find a job with the excitement he lusted for.

In one of the many towns Renault wandered through, Renault would happen upon a mercenary group sparring in the town square. A small crowd had gathered around the group, amused by the display of swordsmanship. Renault too was attracted by the swordplay in front of him. When the mercenary leader asked if anyone in the crowd was brave enough to spare with them, Renault immediately stepped forward.

Gripping the katana passed to him (the very same one he carries with him today) Renault immediately fell in love with the rush of battle. The feel of a sword in his hands brought him the excitement that he longed for. He loved every minute of the time he spent fighting with the mercenaries. The group of mercenaries also admired the man’s fighting spirit. Renault had one of those “Win At All Costs” fighting attitudes, and that showed in the man’s fighting style. As long as he still drew breath, Renault never quit fighting. When the mercenaries asked if he would like to join them, he immediately said yes.

For two more years Renault traveled with the mercenaries, taking on whatever job was offered to him. The nature of the job never really mattered to him. As long as there was a chance to test the steel in his hands, Renault was satisfied. The mercenaries were the typical sort of mercenaries, offer them the right amount, and they would take the job, regardless of how scornful the task. Whether it was something as noble as guarding a lost merchant or as low as assassination, the group would take the job if the pay was right, and so would Renault.

After enough time, Renault wasn’t fighting for the thrill of it anymore. Now, he fought because that was all he knew how to do. Just as farmers knew how to farm, Renault knew how to fight. Without him knowing, something very tragic had happened to him. Renault could only survive in chaos. After all, what use is the sword in a time of peace and order? Only in times of chaos would a sword be needed, and it was in these times that Renault thrived. After realizing this, Renault would come to his own decision about what to do with his life.

Eventually, the happy farm boy who had once been Renault Nox vanished into the annals of time. Now, all that remains of Renault Nox is a bitter and cold man, who hungers for the feel of a sword and the thrill of cutting down a strong opponent. Friends and family mean nothing to him. Only the fight remains.
