Hello everyone, this little thread is going to be a collection of short stories revolving around Mia. So...this is a solo thread.

Alright, So on this first story, I got to wondering what it would be like to push things into the future. Seeing as Mia is only 231, i pondered what it would be like to set everything 300 years into the future.

True Loyalty

Their pictures hung on the wall, each and every one of them a friend, a colleague, or a lover. At the ripe age of Five hundred and ten, Mia had seen so many come and go. The Bandit brotherhood was truly a global group now. Mia had been there from its second incarnation, the leaders then had been Kyo, a fiery vixen from Akashima, and the foul mouthed mutant Molotov. What a pair they had been.

Both were long Gone though, and many more had come and gone. At one point the ice elf had thought about vying for command, but then she worked better as advice and well, even now, after so long, she was just too free spirited to lead something so grand.

Though that was why the apartment smelled of gun oil. Turbulance between the east and the west had grown, the leaders grown too greedy. The duocracy had worked for so long, but now distance and ill choices had brought forth the advent of Nicoli Valdim, the leader of the west, and Sakura Nagi of the east.

Thoughts of the past fluttered in between moments of double checking herself, ensuring that all the springs were oiled, that the mechanisms were clean and perfect. With knowledge better than most of her peers, her slender hands placed the slide back into place, working it back and securing it. A slow motion and a click that before had been audible above her music was now at the perfect, oiled level. The Mustang .45 semi automatic pistol was one of a pair, both had been with her for nearly sixty years. Both had seen a war and countless gun fights.

Most would have considered them collectors items at this point, considering very few military service pieces still existed. Then again, Mia had always been a customizer, both had fine bright blue Livoil handles with silver diamonds embedded in them. Nearly three times a piece had the barrels been replaced, and countless other parts, mostly springs and clips.

With a quick dry fire test and a soft sigh, her hand slid a ten round clip into it. Her eyes gave a deep, longing gaze at an old picture, worn and aged burned, there was an elderly lady,, those same almond eyes that had gotten her into this business in the first place. Mia could still remember laying on the roof of the Minstrel's perch, smoke drifting from her lips when she first heard the Akashiman speak.

Kyosku....

Her hand drew back the slide, placing another faceless round into the chamber.

It had now become only a five hour flight from her home in Dheathain to Corone. Corone, the bustling island city, still center of the world for most. Radasanth and Underwood had long become known as Districts within the great city of Corone. She could remember when it used to be known as the Three cities. Now there was a constant static noise of people and machinery, the sky was always dark with smog and air tasted of a sewer.

Mia hated it, everything about it. People packed together like canned fish. Not to mention the three hundred years of smoking hadn't really done much more than create a mild asthma that even now, as the plane drew near, began to act up. Private aircraft had become a necessity amongst the B.B. Transporting everything from leaders to contraband all over the world.

Flying had never really set well with her, having always preferred such excursions as using trucks to run boarders. Even though she had been one of the fortunate few to have the pleasure of flying one of the first airplanes on the world, it just seemed, unnatural to be off the ground.

Within moments the black twin engine had landed with only a hint at the roughness of the over used runway. She could see the familiar B.B. car waiting for her at the hanger, Things she had seen time and time again. There was no real monotony with this lifestyle, but like everything, there were the slow moments.

A soft feeling of relief lifted through her body as her boots touched the hard pavement of the hanger, her coat moving in the gentle ocean breeze.

“Ms. Kane, whenever you are ready.” He was a familiar face, though his name escaped her. An older human that went for that shaved head with goat-t look.

The second one, a younger elf she hadn't seen before seemed to jump as she looked at him. It was a common thing, as her eyes had long turned a complete glowing purple. Which had also gained her the nickname Ghost eyes amongst the rest of the group.

The kid held the door open for her, to which she was always grateful. With age came a great deal of respect was what she always figured. There were only a few others with the age she had under her belt. A few within what used to be known as Gol'bron, a few in the Company, and there was always the remains of the House of Sora trying to run everything.

The streets seemed to go on endlessly as she watched with mild interest the setting. From the humble cobble stone and white washed stone walls to filthy brick and glass, Iron, and steam. This had really become one of the worst places on Althanas. A violent crime every thirty seconds instead of every thirty two from back in the day.

The mansion was nice, having been made almost entirely out of glass with a gorgeous veiw off a cliff and out into the ocean., the home of Nicoli Valdim. He had been waiting for her in his meeting room, which had all sorts of high tech and magical defenses and filters. There were only a few people that could have gotten even a glimpse of what happened behind these Livoil doors, and they all worked for the Brotherhood.

“Mia!” he said with a false sort of light in his eyes, the kind that comes with years of lying.”I'm so glad you made it.”

With an acknowledging nod the ice elf shook his hand “Nicoli.”

“Come sit, Gabe, get the lady something to drink.” He said before taking his chair at the head of the table.

“Thank you...” her reply came as she took a chair across the table from him.

“We have a problem...” Nicoli started, his words grave with just a hint of anxiety. “Sakura is trying to take total control.”

Gabe returned with a bottle of whiskey in hand, showing it to Mia for her approval which came with another short nod. Her pupil less eyes took in everything they could from her leader, his short black hair, his perfect Fallienian suit, the shine of his dragon skin boots. The way his aura wavered and told stories that were deep inside his mind.

“Shes here in Corone, preparing her men for this coup.” he continued before taking a drink from his own glass.

They sat in silence, Mia having learned that in silence you can sometimes learn more.

“I want you to lead our own team against them, preempt this attack and save our men's lives.” He seemed to almost plead.

With a long, purposeful drink, emptying her glass with ease, Mia thought it over.

“Yes sir.” she said softly with more determination than any that had been in this conversation.

Nicoli sighed in relief, his trust always high for the ice elf.

Smoke poured from her lips as she meditated, the van they were in hit a good bump before pulling to a gentle stop. The group around her was chatting away, mostly out of pre-battle anxiety. Not a man there other than the bald man with a goatee, who was their driver, was familiar or for that matter even into the prime of their lives.

A bunch of kids...

The thought was a little disheartening for her as the doors opened, everyone snapping to attention.

“were here” baldy said before disappearing to the side of the rig.

“Alright, listen up.” Mia began as she stood, ensuring that her headset was on, “I want teams at all the exits and snipers on the roof. No one moves without my orders, or I will put a bullet in your skull.”

There was an unease at the last bit that let her understand that they knew exactly what she meant. With a last nod she exited the van, each man, equipped with automatics and body armor trailing behind her. Theirs wasn't the only van, there were three others, positioned down the streets and alleys from the warehouse. All five teams moved with trained grace, Mia leading the first team to reach the place. It was then that she felt it, something was off about this.

“All teams, hold positions.” she called through the radio as she holstered her pistol. “wait here...” she said softly to her team as she advanced down the alley.

There was a single guard sitting in a small booth between the large roll up doors and the smaller entrance door. From his garb, he was clearly a member of the B.B. With a short glance she walked out into the open without fear.

“Can I help you miss?” the guard said with a stern voice, his eyes hidden behind mirrored glasses while his sidearm was shown for deterrence.

With a slow movement she produced a very special ID card from within her coat. His stance seemed to straiten as he read.

“Is she here?” Mia spoke, enunciating the her.

“um, yes, please, this way!” he said, stumbling over himself a little before he turned and opened the walk in door.

Inside was somewhat empty, save for a couple of limos and a group playing cards at a small table, their weapons laying on the table or slung across the back of the chair. She could already see that something was wrong with this whole thing. She had known Sakura since her inception, and she would not have been so under prepared. Though perhaps she was housing the assault team elsewhere.

Naw, even then she would have kept more guards on the ready, specially towards people that weren't invited. Nothing here seemed to fit together except in the worst possible way.

“When is Nicoli going to get here? He's been keeping me waiting for almost three hours.” Mia heard through the small office that was in the rear as she neared. The voice could only have been one person, and that was Sakura.

Mia stopped only a moment to knock on the door before it swung open, another heat packing suit looking at her through those same bulk purchased mirrored sunglasses. His gruff glare tried to pierce through her, her own eyes watching back.

“I'm here to see Lady Sakura” she said with a solid voice.

With only another momentary pause, he stepped away, opening the door widely for her. “Mia Kane is here to see you, Lady Sakura.”

This tall, thin and what most would consider underfed Elf was actually of Akashiman and Fae decent. Her rich spider silk dress did wonders for her body, but then that was the best money could buy. Then there was her assistant, another tall spindly person, though known more simply as Karvin. He seemed at times to be more an accessory than what one would call protection, but he was a very gifted dark elf, having once been a top assassin in the Company.

Mia could feel his magics scanning her for anything that might be construed as a threat.

Though before he could react, her slender hand removed the ear piece and mic of the radio.

“All teams hold your positions, Wait for further instructions, something isn't right here.” It was a lie, but there was something amiss here. Her fingers moved with experience, sliding the switch to off.

“Mia? What are you doing here?” Sakura said as she leaned on the office table.

Mia held up her hand as a sign to relax, to her other leader. “Nicoli sent me, but what are you doing here?” another lie was expected, but she was already searching through the ether, sensing everything in the room like it it was her web.

“Nicoli had asked me to come and meet him here to go over some business” There seemed to be a strong air of impatience within the uniquely siren voice.

The ice elf's mind traced through thoughts, things that seemed to fall into place. Movements of items, her growing exclusion from Brotherhood matters.

“I hate to even imagine it, but I think....” Her words were cut short but the thunder of automatic weapons. Karvin already pulling his pistols forth, aimed with perfection at the ice elf, who with no moment wasted had done the same, save for one aimed at the door.

“You've been set up...” she finished in a quiet moment.

Both elves eyed each other, waiting for that single sense of movement. The moment of agreement never came as the door burst open, Mia's finger twitching with perfection sending the thirteen millimeter round cutting through their party crasher's face.

That was all that was needed as both elves broke their glare, Karvin taking to guarding his master in a way liken to a samurai while Mia moved to secure the door. Something again felt wrong, there was a strong smell, but nothing that stopped her thought as she looked out into the warehouse, there were twice as many people as she had seen. Nicoli's men were faced off against a matching force of who could only be Sakura's men.

Nothing adds up...

with a quick glance through the room she realized that Sakura and Karvin had disappeared, through some unseen escape way or heck, even the back door. Mia had seen the dark elf in combat before, he was probably her equal if it really came down to it. Her thoughts were stalled as a bullet zipped past her with a slight whistle.

At her age things were no longer guess work, the worlds were no longer two, but one singular would of material and immaterial. Bullets were like long threads, people like lights and their movements, their intents were all visable. She stood confidently, stepping out into the warehouse with little worry, her head moving or a quick step to the side kept her unprotected body from harm. A masked one, one of her team, popped out in front of her, his aura screaming at her like a lion pouncing as he aimed. She could see that he wanted her blood.

Years of combat readied her, and before his weapon leveled on her, a casing had already jingled across the floor. His head containing more holes than usual. Personally, head shots were usually reserved for enemy factions, but today it was merely out of having to shoot around their armored vests. Mia's heart was low in her chest as she heard a radio crackle to life, slightly garbled with gore, but clear enough.

“Make sure you get Kane, the boss wants it to look like an accident.”

only a few times had she been double crossed, but usually only by people that were far from being her leader. Nicoli would soon, and by her hand.

The battle had run on till Nicoli's men had won, but only by a few. It was then that her plan went into effect, Covered with experience placed gore she played dead, right on the floor of the office. More time passed, clearly his men were clearing the place for him, then finally one entered.

“clear and I found Kane.” he said over his radio.

Within moments Nicoli entered, followed by two other soldiers. They were ready, but eased by the silence. A silence ended with three rounds, one to each of the guards. Their bodies falling was mute compared to the look upon the Boss's face, such terror could only be expressed by the deep scream that erupted from his lungs as two more bullets were fired, taking his knees clean out from under him.

A the magics of the office were like those of the meeting room, no one would be coming for him, as no one heard his wailing, the cries of mercy. Known for her hearing, these words fell on deaf ears as she slowly crept over him, her pistols being replaced by an ancient blade. The ancient symbol of the Bandit Brotherhood, though worn was still etched into the handle. While this blade was close to three hundred years old, it was clean as the day it first saw use.

Reserved for internal affairs was the only reason she had it still, never had an enemy outside the BB suffered its wrath. She could name every single person that had died by it. Nicoli Valdim was just another name on the list. With hate did her fingers grip into his hair, lifting him into kneeling on what were now bloodied stumps. The razor edge slicing cleanly from ear to ear, silencing his screams in a volume of gurgles.

A resounding applause filled the small room. Mia's eyes quickly leveled to see the other leader, her face bright with a smile.

“Thank you” Sakura's voice was pleased, even beyond what was needed.

Karvin stood just a step back and to the right of his master, his eyes watching Mia quietly. A soft sigh was let out of the ice elf's lungs as she flicked the blood off the blade, returning it to the sheath with ease.

“Lady Sakura.” Mia said with a nod of respect.

“Yes, thank you for your loyalty to the Bandit Brotherhood.” Her words seemed hollow as they flowed from her mouth. With purposeful steps, Sakura stalked closer to the ice elf. No weapons were drawn, no snipers on the roof. The Akashiman/ Fae blooded woman held Mia in a gentle hug.

There was no sounds as it came, only blood and steel. Her body fell, and silence was all there was in the room.

“Are we both leaving this room alive, Karvin?” Mia asked as she sheathed the knife for the second time today.

“Like you, my loyalty is to the Bandit Brotherhood.” he replied with a short bow. Mia returned it, both warriors understanding exactly what loyalty meant.

So here another chapter ended, in a blood soaked warehouse, ready for the next leaders to be chosen. The loyal kept, and the traitors combed out into the afterlife.

Just another day for Mia Kane.
