View Full Version : The Observer

The Observer
06-13-06, 03:08 PM
Name: Unknown (known only as the Observer)
Age: Unknown (Doesn't believe in keeping track of such nonsense)
Race: Humanoid (Or perhaps someone who can assume the shape of other races?)
Sex: Voice suggests male.
Weapon: None (Uses his own dark abilities, not man-made flawed objects)
Armor: Only his dark robe, no defensive value.

Description of appearence: A tall, male-like figure. Wears a robe with a hood, leaving no skin showing. The hood casts a magical shadow over his face, letting him see, but his face concealed. His voice echoes out of the shadow, if hidden, not allowing his location to be revealed.

Abilities:

Shadow Joust: The Observers only offensive ability. The joust resembles a spike made from darkness that protrudes from his sleeves. The range is only 5 feet and lasts only for a few seconds, allowing only for a short jab. He cannot use these quickly after using it, so he usually hides for a minute after attacking.

Minor Telepathy: The Observer can read surface thoughts of anyone he is looking at unless the person as aware of the reading and is a stronger telepath. He uses this to determine if one is meaning him harm.

Levitation: The Observer always hovers a foot off of the ground. He moves at a speed 1.5 times faster than a human run, but no faster, and not usually for more than a few moments. If he is forced off of a cliff or similar raised surface, or even if he chooses, he falls slowly for 60 feet, then as quick as any other after that.

Shadow Phase: In a place of shade or shadow, the Observer can disappear for a moment, then reappear in a place up to 10 feet away. He cannot use this ability more than once every two or three posts. This ability is usable in any place a source of light is not touching him, and he cannot reappear in such a place.

Hidden from History: Due to the magical force that birthed him, any written word about the Observer is erased immediatly. He exists, but the only proof is legend and myth of a man that is always in the corner, watching.

History:

The Observer could have possibly been human once, but that fact might even be forgotten by him, even though that, too, is uncertain. He is the enforcer of the first laws, the basic laws. To avenge murder, to catch thieves, and to vanquish evil. He was born of dark magic, but not all that is dark is evil.

The Observer is not good either. He is immune to the laws. To catch one he has deemed guilty, he will stop at nothing to catch him/her. If the one he is after runs into a building to escape, he would burn it to rout his prey. He doesn't seem to realize that what he does to catch the guilty could be seen as wrong. He just does what he knows is right. A dark savior if you will. When his prey is caught, he is punished. There is no trial. Only judgement.

He has been doing his job on Althanas for ages, but in a place with so many people, once he has been seen, word spreads fast. He could hide until the ones who know of him die, but then his job would go undone. So, unhidden, he now has to track down the ones who have escaped him for this long.
