Matt Karaman

Age: 16
Race: Human
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Skin: Medium Brown
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 150 lbs.
Occupation: None.
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Personality:

Generally friendly open minded person, although he is a little shy which sometimes can appear as rudeness or some other alienating trait. Very clumsy in his speech, often sounding happy when he is sad or sad when he is happy, only making others feel more alienated. Despite his age, he finds himself often rather disinterested in the young women he meets in his travels. Believes that all life is to be given the utmost respect and believes in a unity of the earth and all living things. Sees little use for religion, government and things of that nature. Finds actions much more important than belief and faith, reasoning that praying all day will get little done. Well balanced between the right and left brain, approaching most things logically but still believing in creativity when in its right place. Enjoys being around animals and nature rather than towns.

Appearance:

He has a medium brown color of skin and brown eyes. His messy black hair is worn long, down to about his shoulders. He is rather scrawny looking and looks rather young even for a sixteen year old. Cares little for the way he looks and so usually look slightly disheveled and messy. His shy personality shows perfectly in his usual choice of standing or walking with head tilted toward the ground and not making much eye contact. Usually seen wearing a simple linen tunic and linen pants, a coat over the tunic, and the strap used to carry his sword on his back over the coat.

History:

Matt doesn't know why he was there, how he got there, who was involved, and didn't even know he was there until the old druid had told him. But he was there. Sitting there, a boy of maybe only a year old, in the midst of the trees and soil of a deep forest. He had been concentrating on the music made by the birds that perched upon the branches all around him when the druid found him, and he didn't seem to even notice the old man as he approached. The old druid wore a large grey cloak which concealed all of his body below his face, and Matt would never see him out of that attire. Matt remembers that he had a long grey beard and that his hair was also grey and thinning but his memories of his face are sadly beginning to fade away with time... The half-elf druid was astounded at the sight of a human child simply lying there in the woods, and due to his extreme beliefs in life, would not just let the poor thing stay there all by himself. He saw no one else around, and so picked the boy up...but had no idea what tto do as he wasn't much of a babysitter. He decided that the boy would come with him to the next town he was going to, and there he would see if any recognized him. But no one in the nearest town knew who the boy was or who his parents were. He went from tavern to tavern, inn to inn, and at one point was crazed enough to actually start knocking on the doors of peoples' homes until he finally realized that the boy simply did not come from here...so he went to the next nearest town to the forest...and another...and yet another...and failed miserably at finding anyone who recognized him.

This went on for a good few months and the druid grew weary. He could not spend the rest of his life trying to find the parents of this child, could he? And yet he was just a little fond of the thing. The boy was still very young and thereby very pure and uncorrupted by society's views...the druid saw the innocent awe and wonder at life and of all the sense still well alive withing the boy. He saw the way he would wait patiently, staring at a wild stray cat for minutes and minutes rather than approach it and risk intimidating it...and was reminded just a little bit of himself. Before he knew he was caring for the child and had named him "Matt" after a character in a story he had read. The "Matt" of fiction has carried characteristics similar to both the old druid and to Matt and so he thought it fitting. The boy became his traveling companion and as the boy aged the druid taught him eveything he knew of the living world around them. He showed him the importance of every living thing, the way the plants kept the deers alive, the way the deers kept the wolf and bear alive, and the way that the wolf and bear kept man alive. As the boy grew yet older, the druid eventually came to the lesson that although life was always to be respected, part of that was respect was to be able to end it, and end it in the right manner. He gave him a shortsword and was soon teaching him the art of killing. He made sure to explain that killing was right only when done for survival. To kill a deer and then make its life yours in its consumption was fine, but to kill a deer for sport was disgusting.

The years progressed this way, with the druid traveling in his many quests and the boy following him and learning all along the way. One day the druid was hunting with the boy and a horrible revelation came upon him.

"Wow, that was a terrible shot baba..."

The druid looked to the boy, and saw a smile notifying him that it was only a joke. But he looked back to the deer and saw that there actually was no dear anymore. He had missed.

"Hmmm,...that is interesting isn't it?"

His sight was going...and now that he thought about it, he did get tired awfully easy, and lately the boy had had to talk awfully loudly to get the man to understand...the druid feared knew it was time for one last lesson for Matt. Swordsmanship was fine, but Matt wouldn't go far with no other way to defend himself, and the druid saw that the moment to give Matt his own gift of the power in Magic was here. He had shown him many spells that he was capable of before all through his life, and had in this manner cured the normal human insecurity towards the power. However, he had never actually trusted the boy himself with the wielding of the power until now. The old druid mixed together a large potion unlike any other he had ever concocted. He dug through volumes of herbology stored away in his old mind searching for all of the right ingredients and the way to properly mix them...and finally it was given to Matt. Matt felt little after taking it, but the druid knew that much would soon be revealed to Matt about the potion he had given him. In the meantime, the druid knew his age was soon going to stop his adventuring, but did not want Matt's travels to end with his...there was still so much of Althanas for the boy to see...after much internal conflict he finally worked up the courage to do it. The boy had leaned on the druid long enough and the old man knew he had the skills and will to survive on his own. Besides, soon the powers Matt had gained with the potion would reveal themselves to him and he would grow strong... So, one day, the boy awoke to the confusing image of a half empty room of the inn he had been in last night. At first not understanding he was slow to get ready to leave, but as the fact that he was alone suddenly hit him...he ran all the way up and down the street he was on, hollering and yelling, passign shops and smiths and this that and the other thing, all now rather disturbed at the image of a young man running about town screaming...he knew finding the druid again considering his superios abilities due to magic would be impossible...unless he could master magic himself. And that is now exactly what Matt sets out to do.

Skills:

Increased Strength
Matt looks to be a rather scrawny sixteen year old, however, through no accident the druid has been able to over time increase his strength to that of a fully grown man, something not easily accomplished but thankfully made much easier by the years and years the druid had to work on Matt's muscles with his magic.

Weak-Moderate Swordsmanship
Even though he is only sixteen, the powers of the druid have instilled in him abilities of swordplay enough to put up a below average fight. He doesn't know too many fancy tricks or feigns and wouldn't hold very long against an average warrior.

Weak Telekinesis
One of the gifts from the mysterious potion given to him by the druid, this ability is extremely underdeveloped. At the moment Matt has to go through very much concentration and time just to move the lightest objects the shortest of distances, and lifting something that he couldn't lift with his arms is out of the question.

Weak Pyrokinesis
Another gift from the potion, this is also underdeveloped. Matt can create extremely weak flames and cannot form shapes yet with the flames although he can make them slightly warmer or colder and larger or smaller. The range of this ability is currently useless to any battling purposes.

Weak Electrokinesis
Yet another effect of the druid's magical drink, Matt hasn't had much practice with this. He can create very weak electrical currents, at most enough to cause very minor aching in a person, and reversing or controlling already existent currents is out of the question. The range of his ability to play with electrical currents is currently impractical for battle.

Equipment:

Druid's Gift Shortsword
The shortsword that the druid gave to him in his training. It looks like a standard shortsword other than the one decoration of a large leaf molded in the metal of the hilt. No magical properties.

I'd like you to make him below average in swordsmanship, please.

Sorry about that, wasn't sure if he should be average or less.
