Age: 24
Gender: male
Race: Mutant Deinonychus
Hair Color: n/a
Eye Color: flammeous

Physical manifestation:

Imagine, if you will, a being whose appearance is essentially the epitome of ...

... with marbled earthen tones, but whose slender chassis has been touched by the mutagen's hand. Anomalies are subtle yet distinct; the exterior of the fore-limbs, following a symmetrical line down the elbow, are clothed in silvery-gray plumage with a feint blue tinct, similar to the multitude of feathers sprouting from both hips. Twin flame-coloured lanterns oft rest behind a diminutive set of wire-rimmed spectacles, which Nathan is repeatedly adjusting.

His right hind leg has been severed at the knee, the missing portion replaced by a crude albeit effective metal counterpart, its wooden stub fitted with three steel claws. Flashy aerobatics are thus not entirely in his favour, although the lad is able to get around easily enough. Particularly fond of a prolific black overcoat he drapes over himself in undesirable weather.

Psychological profile:

Quick of temper with a keen intellect, Nathan's otherwise amiable, eccentric nature serves as an unintentional farce for darker things. Far from a sociable creature, he'll mingle with others if the occasion calls for it, but prefers to spend his time alone. His unusual passage into life has left him bitter and frustrated, and he attacks difficult situations with ruthless vigour. An uncommon sight aboard any vessel, well-versed in literature and the arts, he seems more of a scholar than a sailor; an incongruent sight strutting over deck, nose in a book. Clunk, thump. Clunk, thump.

Idiosyncracies:

Allergic to bees; vegetarian; taps fingers in various rhythms when bored or contemplative; tends to pace; leaps manically at any opportunity to commune with the dead; collects bizarre fungi

Skills:

Swordsmanship - Apprentice level [weak]. He took this up shortly following the loss of his leg. Clumsy slashing and hacking.

Telekinesis - Apprentice level [weak]. Objects quiver threateningly if he really concentrates, and once a pen committed suicide off a table at his command. These are about the extent of his gifts in this department, currently.

Communion - Apprentice level [weak]. (The ability to see, speak with, and attempt to hail the spirits of the deceased). Sometimes he'll spot a specter floating about unbidden, or hear snatches of whispered conversation in a silent room. Any attempts at communication usually fail...

Literacy.

Cooking - concocts palitable, if slightly unoriginal meals.

Agility - Nymmy can avoid blows during battle and leap, remaining talon poised, onto unsuspecting foes just as his ancestors before him, about %8 of the time. Truth be told, he's still adjusting to his limited mobility and even with the accession of a long, stiff tail for balance, has yet to fully adjust. Can move surprisingly fast if a quick getaway is in order. For now, avoids fighting whenever possible. He's only a chef, afterall.

Brief biography:

There was a mage, D'vis, who was messing around with things she shouldn't have -- namely in matters of resurrection, as she mistakingly gave life to a pile of old bones. The resultant creature's cellular structure was modified in a way as to endow him with a brilliant, unique mind, an insatiable curiousity, feathery prominence, and several internal oddities. She named him Nathaniel Nym after an influential physicist, and raised the spindly reptilian as a son. Nymmy inherited his mother's appetite for the paranormal, and upon reaching the appropriate age set off to attend a regional university where he obsessively devoured any information to be found on the subject along side his mathematical studies.

Nevertheless, a month before graduation Nymmy was accused of murdering his professor (the details of which are not exactly clear), and he was consequently forced to flee the campus. D'vis proved of little help, wanting nothing to do with him, and promptly disowned the raptor who turned to soliciting his meagre culinary prowess in local pubs in hopes of attracting passage aboard a ship. He was eventually recruited aboard the marauding tartan Bloody Mary, which suited him just perfectly -- the pirates could care less about his questionable history. This first voyage not only hooked him on the sea, but lost him a useful appendage as well.

He has since been hopping, literally, from ship to ship, finding the lifestyle to his liking and a great opportunity to polish his paranormal investigative dream.

A one-legged paranormally inclined raptor? You are so getting the EXP bonus once you're approved.

For now, though, I need some clarification.

I'd like to see a better explanation of what you mean by "weak" Telekinesis and Communion. How much can he do, according to you?

Also, define what 'Agility' allows this handicap dino to do in the best of circumstances. Can he hop away at twenty miles per hour or simply dodge one or two blows from an attacker?

No problem. I clarified a bit, let me know if there's anything else that needs adjusting. ^__^
