Name: Elam Grimson
Age: 23
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 220
Appearance: Elam has a quite rugged, albeit ragged, look about him. He has tangled dark brown hair that obviously has not been washed in ages with slightly darker stubble and eyes of the same color that always seem to be criticizing whoever he might be staring at.
Personality: Elam is surely no average shaman. He’s much less a wise man, much more a wise ass. He is a loner by nature, considering everyone else in the world to be total imbeciles and quite willing to give a good thump on the head to those who deserve it. Naturally a pleasant guy.
Ongaku: The god that chose Elam on becoming a shaman. He originally thought he would be having it easy commanding followers, but Elam has made it a point to show just how wrong he was. He is a god of growth, making appearances as a twin headed cobra.
Weapons:
Shaman staff- A very gnarled looking staff made of ash wood. It has three pegs in line with each other on one side of the staff for Elam to hang various charms on. Its only special property is that it takes on the properties that charms give off. These properties can affect Elam himself; change its own weight, size, or strength. It’s even said that there is a charm to make the staff as strong as Adamantine.
Charms- ~Elam currently has none.
Clothing/Armor: Elam normally wears a ragged dirty light brown cloth robe with an equally ragged dirty forest green hooded cloak over it. He has no armor to speak of.
Skills:
Shamanism- Elam is able to speak to his familiar god at anytime he chooses, or, as is more often the case, when he doesn’t choose. This two way mental connection between deity and shaman allows Elam to consult with Ongaku, his foul tempered god, and allows it to send commands to him quickly. This ability also allows Ongaku to speak with him in his dreams and teach him new abilities when he is deemed worthy.
Nature talk- Elam is learning to talk to plants and animals through his deity. The ability currently only allows him to pursued small plants, such as grass or dandelions, to grow at an amazing rate. It of course also allows him to hold conversations with these plants as well. While even he sees this skill as almost pointless, it makes for much better conversation than his god. Aside from that with practice he may someday be able to talk to trees. Oh boy.
Staff- In his time living as a hermit Elam learned a thing of two about using a staff. He has a skill to match with any farm boy, but a far cry from a master. Of course Ongaku hopes to change that. The one thing Elam is willing for. Though their different approaches to doing so still causes conflict
History: Elam was born in a normal town, raised by two normal people with a very normal life. It wasn’t long before Elam’s parents noticed that something was terribly wrong with their son.
He wouldn’t go play with the other children and he would often go out alone to who knows where. When he came to an age when most normal boys and girl stared noticing each other, he would just grumble about everyone being twitterpated and run off into the forest where none would bother him.
Concerned his family decided that he was having “girl troubles” and decided to help him out. When he came home from one of his outing one day he found a young girl about his age with plain brown hair and dull brown eyes set in a skinny face laden with freckles. His parents told him this was Sissy and that she and him would be married one day. This infuriated Elam and he ran off into the forest to find solitude. His mother and father thought he would come back within a few days, but little did they know he would never return again, or at least in the near future.
Elam had built a cabin deep in the woods where he could find solace after being exposed to the drama of everyday life. Angry, he had no will to return to see all the people who didn’t seem to understand him. However, this soon passed and he simple became accustomed to the life of a hermit. He learned to hunt and began a small garden in his yard. He lived many a good year with only minimal trips to town for absolute necessities. He believed that his life would continue this way until one day he found himself choking on a beef sandwich...
He fell to the ground gagging. The small chunk sauntering up his throat. If he didn’t get it out soon he would choke to death. Suddenly something wrapped around his waist and pushed in and up. With a loud GACK, the chuck rocketed into the wall. When he turned to see just who was trespassing on his property he found a giant double headed snake.
I am the great Ongaku and I have allowed you to live so that you may spread my message throughout the world.
“And just what makes you think I’ll do that?”
So began the oh so loving relationship between a shaman and his patron god
