What's going on with the user titles?

Hate to keep bringing this up, but I keep noticing things. At first I thought just the mods had user titles these days, but I'm noticing regular members with user titles, but not seeing any way to change it in my User CP. Just curious what's going on with that. Is there a button I'm missing or is it a crazy conspiracy to cause mass confusion? o.O

Actually, some members have received the ability to edit their usertitle as a reward for something. Most commonly it's recruiting new members or helping me to find/fix a bug.

Believe me, if I had the choice, I would have rather had my thread back. But it was a kind gesture, nonetheless, although I think the additional exp/gold thing is OTT, and something i'm not going to claim on principle.

Edit: On a smaller note, is there a reason why the member community could not have a custom user title option from the start like the days of oldthanas?
