Alright... someone has to come out and say it. I was actually surprised with how Iron Man turned out.

Putting it bluntly I was expecting it to come out horribly, after being met with disappointment with Spiderman, Superman, and X-Men.

Performance wise Robert Downey Jr. did his job well portraying Tony Stark. I say they should keep their casting director.

CGI and costume design were hands down way better than expected as well.

As always the bonus with this movie, it is pretty funny.

I liked X-Men and Spiderman. Haven't seen Ironman yet, but I want to. Recent movies I saw were 21, Drillbit Taylor, and Prom Night. 21 was good, but the other two were not that great, imo.

all time favs include troy, fight club, v for vendetta, pirates of the caribbean, 300, the oceans series, and the bourne series.

Napolean Dynamite... the funniest movie.

"Napolean you're just jealous that I've been on the internet talking to babes all day"

I don't like whoever played Rhodey, I found him to be a little bit of a pussy. Hopefully that changes in the sequel.

Personally X-Men was only appealing because of Wolverine, but when 3 came out I really didn't expect them to start killing off piles of characters. Jean I could understand she was supposed to. Spiderman was fine up until movies 2 and 3 where I slowly got up and left the room (never watched them in theatre only at friends houses).

Heh heh Troy - Pretty boy packed movie, still pretty good considering that they kind of messed up Homer's story.

POTC - Liked it a lot.

---

On my list:

Dead Silence - one of the better horror movies.

Sweeney Todd - Greusome, but amazingly enough Johnny Depp can sing.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy- Jackson did an excellent job with the three as long... and dreary as it gets. I'm a boring fart.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding - I don't care if it's a chick flick. If I can piss myself laughing watching a movie it was worth it.

Jurassic Park Series - People will have to rip these movies out of my cold dead fingers. I love these movies.

Star Wars initial trilogy and prequels - Do not lie, you all liked it.

I enjoyed the second ending better than the theatrical one.

Dead Silence - the closest thing to classical horror movie making.

Star Wars initial trilogy and prequels - Do not lie, you all liked it.

Ugh. Dead Silence was fucking awful.

Star Wars Trilogy is awesome. The prequels are terrible.

If you want comedy, try Idiocracy. For drama, He Was a Quiet Man.

El Mariachi/Desperado/Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Pan's Labyrinth
Perfect Blue
Hot Fuzz
Shaun of the Dead

Stardust and Beowulf had good storylines.

Moonbird
05-04-08, 03:18 AM
Stardust was based on my favourite book, by the same name, written by Neil Gaiman. The ending is way better in the book though, by far. In the film it just never ended! It was like nearly the end every ten minutes but THEN THIS HAPPENED and THEN THIS HAPPENED.

Tshael

I've been wanting to see Stardust, but I haven't been able to find it on DVD.

This is in no way shape or form my list of favorite movies, just the best of my DVD collection.

Unleashed (Unrated Version)
The Maid (An Asian Flick. The production company is Tartan Asian. Creepy good.)
Crash
William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream (With kevin Kline and Michelle Pfeiffer)
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
The Illusionist
The Prestige
In Her Shoes
The Butterfly Effect
Pitch Black
The Chronicles of Riddick
Red vs Blue Seasons 1 and 2
Shaun of the Dead
Hero
The House of Flying Daggers
Ong Bak The Thai Warrior
The Protector (Tony Jaa is Jesus)
Happy Feet
Ryuhei Kitamura's Versus (this is fucking hilarious)
Running Scared
Labyrinth

Ahhhh....soooo many good movies to choose from.

I'm going to agree with Manda on "Versus". That movie was pure guilty pleasure awesomeness.

I'd also like to mention Oldboy here. One of the best "oh snap!" moments I've seen in a movie EVAR.

-Iron Man (Good movie nuff said)
-Jurassic Park 1 (2 and 3 I felt were bad, and they could have followed the book a little closer and lost nothing for 2)
-Advent Children (Still up there, despite naysayers, I just loved that final battle sequence)
-Red vs. Blue Seasons 1-3 (Towards the beginning o 3 its still good, then it starts to slough off...)
-Snatch (I love the Turk and I love one scene in particular. It involves A Desert Eagle, nuff said.)
-Beerfest (See it, I cannot explain the awesomeness to you, you must witness the glory yourself!)

I wasn't interested in seeing Iron Man, but I might have to reconsider.

Rogue Assassin. It had a good twist to the ending.

P.S Advent Children was awesome.

Advent Children ftw. ;)

Elijah_Morendale

If we're going to mention Beerfest, we might as well through Super Troopers in there as well.

Also:

Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2
Akira
Ninja Scroll
Seven Samurai
Addams' Family Values
Clue
The Producers
A Fistful of Dollars/For A Few Dollars More/The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
The Big Lebowski
A Prairie Home Companion (notable not only as a great movie, but the only movie where Lindsay Lohan didn't suck)

And as for my thoughts on Advent Children... it wasn't something I was terribly impressed with. Sort of a "we waited how many years, for this?" reaction. Reno was the man, no doubt, but other than that... meh. It probably doesn't hurt that I wasn't terribly impressed with FF7 in the first place. There was a serious lack of Kefka in that game--it killed it for me.

Thanks, still don't really understand the meaning of that post but yeah...

Freddy was scary too, Nightmare on Elm street 1, 2, however many there were. Freddy versus Jason was kinda funny.

Like Alien versus Predator, I was cheering for the Predator.

I didn't find Advent Children that bad. But I watched it when it initially came out in Japan. Then again when the dubbed version came out in NA. Ehh... game wise I didn't mind FF7 but I prefered DOC better.

The original Blade and Underworld movies were good. The Covenant, I didn't mind that one, I hope they continue that storyline.

I saw The Covanent with a guy friend of mine. I enjoyed it. He enjoyed it a lot more, since he's gay and has a thing for magic weilding prettyboys. They were alright, I guess.

A sequel wouldn't be unwelcome, but I didn't feel like it begged for one.

-Guilty- Shamefully I did notice the leading cast were guys. I don't know about them being pretty, maybe yeah thats a gay notion, I actually thought the storyline was good.

-Ish bias- Guys are just great entertainment no matter what.

A knights tale was good, wouldnt mind seeing Dark Knight.
