I was sitting here the other day, just thinking about random stuff and Althanas. After a stroll through my thoughts I remembered how different 'Melancor' used to be. So I came to formulate this question:

How have your characters changed since their lv.0 registration?

I am obviously not talking about levels, skills and what have you. I am more interested in knowing about their personalities.

-When I first registered "Melancor" he was way more pathetic than he is now. First of all, his name was... Poseidon Eli Aegean.... sure laugh, I think it's funny :p. Anyways, when I first registered him he was supposed to be this righteous character, who had amnesia and couldn't really remember "anything" about his life as a divinity. Well, it was a paradox right there since the beginning; amnesia made him absolutely clueless about the human world, to the point of not being able to differentiate a ball from a grenade. So he didn't really had a backbone to back-up his righteousness. Plus he was innocent enough to walk around town naked; the only need he saw for clothes was to fit with the crown (which oddly stared at him). He reminded me of Kyle XY, if any of you have seen that show.

He was too useless and too uncomfortable to play with, I had to scrap him. So I changed his personality; he is now ruthless enough to repeat the same act that haunted him (the annihilation of the village that somehow threw him off the god status) just for pleasure. He is supposed to have a backbone now, and he pretty much hates humans and the mortal-ies he walks along with today. So I ended up reverting his personality completely. And I changed his name, gladly, to something more simple, Melancor, which is supposed to make reference to his constant melancholy. This malevolent nature is probably going to change (it needs to change to match) if I decide to get off my ass and write the Aegean Lore and Myth.

Anyways, how much have your characters changed?

I'm not touching this thread with a 10-foot pole.

Homun pwns us all here. As far as this guy goes, he started off with a split personality. Jacob on one end, The Writing Writer on the other. Jacob spoke normally and was still crazy, but was more scared than anything. The Writer spoke in rhymes and was about as wrathful as they come. Eventually I scrapped Jacob's personality entirely and just stuck with the Writer. Pretty much the Hyde half took over the Jeckle completely, ive just yet to make a thread in which the event takes place. -shrug-

Oh please, Homun does have drastic changes, but I'd like to think Seth is far an away different from where he started.

To give you an idea, Seth was going to be a pure thief. About level 3 he got his magic...from there it went downhill. I'd probably say that from what I'd envisioned him, I never expected him to become the new front runner for My Chemical Romance's lead singer...the emo hippy...

*kicks seth*

At least I'm working some of that arrogance back in.

Here's a fucking tip: if you don't want your character to seem like an emo hippy pussy, don't make your avatar him sitting in the rain sorta-crying.

You fucking clod.

Elijah wasn't supposed to have Nadia. She started out as a voice in his head, and evolved into what she is now from there.

She started out as the Pink Ranger, so I think she Mighty Morphed just fine!

I think she's just as she was supposed to be, except that now she also has the strength to hug trees and snap them.

Shouldn't there be a logical progression from Point A to Point B?

Having pirate character transforms randomly into super magician character is a little jarring. There should always be a logical reason, evolution if you will, from Point A to B, not just because you decided you're bored with the character.

Just throwing that out there.

If everyone obeyed that criteria there would be very few of us above lvl 3, being that alot of the time people get discouraged when they become bored with an idea or come up with a better one after already creating the character- so discouraged in fact that if they didnt just change it without worrying about the turning point, they may very well have abandoned the character all together.

Exactly. Don't get me wrong, I really liked Poseidon Eli Aegean (hehehe), I just found out that I could not manage his personality, so I basically scraped him in the middle of my intro quest. If you where to read Light of Knowledge you will notice what I am telling you now. I did make a rational justification of this change though ... I vanished his amnessia in the middle of the thread. It was supposed to stick until a new level, but I pulled that card prematurely thus revealing/making his new story, and personality, chrushing Poseidon Eli Aegean (hehehe) to get a very raw Melacor.

Caden's only real changes are simple ones.

He's become moderately racist towards Elves, grows a little more highstrung/sardonic with each near death experience, has this nasty habit of getting cockblocked by everything from acts of god to flukes of language, and his power's increasing and becoming more defined as time goes by. Other than that, he's really just the same guy I registered with, 'cept with more tricks up his sleeve. A little more fleshed out, but not really altered in any meaningful way.

Luc's gotten more mature, more intelligent, and more powerful. He hasn't changed all that much, otherwise. He was already 27 or something when I registered him, so he was developed, personality-wise.

I don't really have much in the way of morphing characters, but I think camella may count for something. She went from bounty hunter to chick trying to stay alive because the whole world wants to kill her...

Ok, maybe it's not that bad. Krista will go through many changes. At one point she WILL be evil. but that hasn't happened yet.

Teric hasn't really changed so much as I've figured out how I want to play him. He's a little more fleshed out as a person than he was before, and there is always room for improvement.

Eventually there might be a paradigm shift with Teric as a character, but where he's at now is more or less where I wanted him to be when I created him.
