Name: Ryan Kale
Age: 23
Race: Human
Hair Color: Light Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 175
Occupation: Adventurer/Swordsman
Appearance: Unimposing, simply put, Ryan doesn't appear to be much. A little on the tall side, but not remarkable. Muscular, but not a body builder. Kale has a thin face, framed by a sharp jawline that is naturally dour, though when he smiles others are generally compelled to smile back. Short brown hair hangs down into his forhead slightly, but not enough to cover his foreboding eyes. Dark brown unwavering eyes are the only remarkable feature of Kale's face. The eyes of a man who has seen much in his short lifespan, deep with understanding. Still yet, Ryan's eyes betray a twinkle of youth when he allows such qualities to shine through. Loose brown trousers disguise knotted muscles that are Kale's legs, a white tunic and brown vest to much of of the same for his upper arms and torso. They also hide a number of scars, a trained eye would distinguish these as the mark of a skilled torturer. While on the surface Kale passes easily as just another passer-by, some might note the bearing with which he carries himself, or the keen alertness of his eyes as he scans a crowded street.
History: Ryan had lived a happy life, raised in a small coastal trading town on Corone, one where the trees of Concordia meet with the ocean providing a great number of resources. Rosehaven had always been a prosperous little town. James William Kale, a merchant and swordsmith of some note, and his family called the town home. Ryan's younger years were filled with fond memories of the Haven, from playing at the warf, to running amongst the trees of concordia. When he turned sixteen Ryan decided to travel out into the world, to see the city of Radasanth, and the other continent and its wonders. He took with him a sword crafted by his father, and engraved with his initials. Flowing in beautiful script at the base of the blade the letters R J K, for Ryan James Kale, were the only decorative touch to the finely crafted blade.
Ryan had many adventures, and contact with many people, most notably his traveling companion and best friend Logan McCloud. The two had actually met within the great halls of the Citadel, the fight had been epic and had fostered a great deal of respect and admiration between the two young warriors. Among the many others he came in contact with, Thoracis would have a lasting impression upon Ryan. They met upon multiple occasions, inside and out of the Citadel, and Kale had come to look up to him.
It was his connection with Thoracis that caused Ryan to through in with Thoracis' Grand Army. He travelled with Logan and others who's names are lost to Ryan within the haze of years, performing his duties and tasks for the Army with gusto. He was proud of his role, these were days when the idea of honor was formost within his mind. Many fell in the war, soldiers whose names were forgotten in time, but Ryan never flinched at taking a mission which sent him deep into Alerarian territory. He led a small scouting party into an ambush, and though the fighting was fierce and bloody, Kale was captured.
Kale's sword was taken from him, and he was forced to watch as it was used to execute all those who he had commanded. The torture he suffered was almost a welcome relief to him, the pain his body suffered numbed the pain he felt within his soul. Responsibility for the deaths of those men haunted him. The torturer, frustrated at Kale's unresponsiveness to his methods, took to carrying the sword and to mocking Kale with it. It was a fatal mistake, one that eventually allowed Kale a chance to escape.
So escape he did, Kale killed his tormentor and snuck from the prison, then from Alerar completely. For eight months Ryan wandered the wilderness and outlying settlements, gathering his thoughts, putting his mind at rest. Now he has returned to Corone to seek the faces from his past, and to attempt to reconnect with the life he lost.
Personality: The Boystrous youth has faided away, and in its place remains a quieter, more severe Ryan Kale. His vibrant cheerfulness, though severely checked, is not entirely gone though. Ryan is a kind hearted person, who still values honor above most other things. His kind heart does not extend to those who he finds on the opposite end of his blade though, in war he is unforgiving. The ferocity of his fighting has waned perhaps, but he has become somewhat more calculating, striking with accuracy and deadly precision.
Skills:
Kale is an above average swordsman, comfortable with the use of one or two longswords. He fights with a great deal of speed and dexterity, relying on his ability to parry a blow or simple to move out of its way, instead of armor.
Equipment:
The Sword of Ryan James Kale: A simple steel longsword, well crafted, balanced for maneuverability over power.
