Dragon Fish

((Belly Up!))

Name: Anebsetsui`iken “Dragon Fish” Ruihou

Age: 18
Race: Merei (Water Walker)
Gender: Male
Height: 5 foot 8 inches
Hair Color: Slick coral gray.
Skin Tone: Pale
Iris Color: A striking shade of gold with cat-like small slit pupils.

Appearance: Not strikingly beautiful, but closer to an average cute, Dragon Fish won’t stand out in a crowd. Ever since coming to the dry world he has become adept as hiding the fact that he isn’t human, except the gold eyes always get him in trouble. His clothing changes daily, yet he never wears shoes for he strongly dislikes that human invention.

Merei Description: The Merei, at first glance, appear to simply be human. However there are some very distinctive features that separate them from humans. The first and most noticeable is that their hair is coated constantly in a strange oil that repels water and makes it so that the hair everywhere on their body dries instantly. Second, their skin which appears normal has a more scaly and smooth feel to the touch for it is also resistant to wetness. Also in the crevices of their toes and between fingers they have an extra layer of retractable skin that can be used to increase speed while swimming. Another less noticeable trait is that they have an increased lung capacity allowing them to hold their breath for a very long period of time. Along with that, their lungs have the capability to intentionally hyperventilate to a degree much farther than is safe for humans, and at length an average Merei could go without breathing for nearly a half hour. Other than this, a Merei’s strength, speed, and other such qualities are within the same capabilities and variance as humans are.

The Merei are resident off the shore of Fallien in the ocean. They take home in giant whales which they have had a symbiosis with for ages. The whale’s body holds large amounts of oxygen and special compartments for them to live in. It is a tradition for their young men to leave the society and experience the dry world for a time.

Another tradition which is considered an unspoken law is that they never speak their name to another human. Their names are only for their own kind, and for those they love. It is an act of extreme trust and respect to share their name with another being other than those within their community, even another Merei from another community.

Physical Build: Dragon Fish has a body that is sleek yet in great shape and very strong, built more for speed than raw power. He would win a race, but lose a wrestling match. Despite that, he is still above average in strength for he regularly exercises and maintains his strength.

Anti-Mgic:
A slight aberration has been noticed in Dragon Fish ever since he was a small child. Unlike the rest of his kind, who are very much inclined to magical talent, Dragon Fish is completely unable to use magic. Instead, he has seemed to develop a very small but noticeable resistance to all forms of magic tested upon him. It seems to be an ability that grows with his age and experience with magic, and at the current point it would only weaken the effects of a spell very slightly. A curse would last a little less time, or an attack do a little less damage, for example. An extremely weak and passion lacking spell would completely fizzle against him, but it is rare that such low level magic is used against him. [Otherwise, a spell that is weaker than level 0 would probably have very little to no effect, but lvl 0 and above would only have slightly reduced effect.]

General Skills and Abilities: (For simplicity, a 1-10 scale will be used. 1 being only simplest knowledge or skill in something, 10 being mastery to the point that little more can be learned. 5 is average level for someone who does not try hard to learn the skill)
Acrobatics: (6: Slightly above average) Due to his body build Dragon Fish was taught acrobatics from a very early age and has the basics ground into him. More advanced techniques are still very difficult, but he can perform many minor feats that someone with no formal acrobatic training would struggle to do.
Tactics: (5: Average) Along with his schooling in acrobatics, he was taught tactics. It was not his strongest subject by far, but he is able to use his own intuition as well to try his best to predict his opponent.
Dagger Fighting: (7: Decently good) His favorite weapon of choice, a long dagger, was chosen at a very young age as well and has been in his sheath ever since he reached puberty. He has had some formal training in its use, but most of it is from street fights and battles to simply survive. If put against someone with no training in a dagger fight, he would have the advantage.
Survival: (3) He can survive on his own, but if placed in a situation where wood, food, or water weren’t readily available he’d struggle alone.

Equipment and Inventory:
Ryuuhou: A blade made from a special coral that has properties similar to steel and was given to Dragon Fish at a young age as a family heirloom. Ryuuhou will never go dull as long as it is introduced to live water when it grows dull. The blade, if broken, can be fixed by being placed in ocean water with the majority of its pieces and left to grow for a day or two. Dragon Fish has a sheath for this blade across the back of his waist. The blade itself, due to being made of a black coral, does not reflect light and it very useful for fighting at night, for it is very hard to see in the dark.

History: (Abridged)

Only a few weeks after leaving his haven in the oceanic world of the Merei, Dragon Fish found himself caught up in the siege upon Fallien. As an outsider, he was surprisingly not shunned and was allowed to fight. He had not played a key part, and was a simple defender, but afterwards he was given passage off the continent and found himself in a place called Lavinya.

Within a month trying to make a living at the docks of Lavinya, Dragon Fish was recruited by a man working for an organization called the Thieves Guild. A year of training passed as he worked harder than most of his peers, striving to be the best for he felt as if he belonged with this group. Never had he been more comfortable ever since he left the Water Walker society, and now he never intended on returning. Soon he took the trial and was proven to be a trustworthy and skillful member of the Thieves Guild. His master gave him great approval for being a man of great potential and within days he was being given missions to foreign agencies.

And so, Dragon Fish began his life as a land dweller in earnest, as a member of the Lavinian Thieves Guild, loyal to a fault.

Just so you know, Anti-Magic will probably level very slowly, or only effect certain types of magic at certain times. For now it's cool.

Approved.
