I despise them both. Clearly myspace is the greater evil, but every day facebook makes a concerted effort to turn what was once a nice listing of phone numbers in undergrad into a social networking abomination.

Facebook just wants to be myspace, clearly.

OMG Is that the only reason you added me? My diddlehole? ... lol. I'm pretty sure I had intended to take that further, but I can't say diddlehole with a straight face.

Myspace has actually done alot for bands who are trying to make themselves known and organize shows. 80% of the booking in town is done over Myspace. So Idk where all the hate comes from. Seems like a pretty sufficient way to communicate.

Well yeah they could but it's alot easier to use a host site like Myspace that already has everything you need (music player, ways to add lots of friends, search for bands in your area aswell as booking agencies and record labels) as opposed to trying to put all that together yourself, especially if you don't know much about the internet or html.

If they can't figure out the internet, how good can they be at music?

Understanding html, in my opinion, is a bit more difficult than plucking a guitar string. I mean, I know absolutely nothing about html, but I've been playing guitar for five years and ain't too bad at it either.

I'm going to take the high road here and infer nothing about your guitar playing.

Understanding HTML is easy as all hell. I did this (http://www.geocities.com/bloodstained_violin) site, which involved playing with several frames, in about thirty minutes. A band's website would be even simpler, and involve less coding and a few simple pages. Main page, linking to a page about the band, with contact information, and also linking to a page embedded with a player with the songs on there. There are loads of places you can get the songs, not to mention you could put the songs into your FTP, link them to Project Playlist and then imbed a Project Playlist Player onto the page if you want to be lazy and not code your own player or find a code online.
The time it takes to learn doing what I just listed is far shorter than the time it took me to learn Smoke on the Water on my bass, which was pretty fucking quick.

I heard there was a pretty good new blog thing going on. It's called real life. Heard of it? The way it works is that you start a conversation in a chosen language, and then other people join in, in whatever language they want to although its usually either the same one or a drunken version of the same one.
Actually, i'm on Face. I'm not proud of it but I use it to get old friends phone numbers ect so I can really speak to them using the real life interface.

See what I read was " Blah blah blah something you don't know the meaning of blah blah Smoke on the Water. "
Maybe I'm just ignorant.
EDIT: While I applaud your ability to form your own unique website I must say that, and I say this with the up most courtesy, making a band myspace look professional and presentable is apparently much more simple than trying to make one from scratch. Don't get me wrong, I give credit where credit is do, and heres the kudos for making your own site *hands kudos* but if I had to choose between a site that looked like that, and a site that looked like this (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=270286246), I would go with the ladder.

Like I said, that site was done after looking at instructions for HTML for about thirty minutes about six years ago. I just linked it to show that writing code is easier than playing guitar.
Also, there's a difference between being "just ignorant" and being a stupid asshole. For the record, it's "latter", not "ladder". Unless, of course, you were inferring to a ladder somewhere in the design of the profile you linked. I must have just missed it because I was too busy closing the window to escape a worthless band that sounds exactly like every other "my soul is as black as the pudding my mom packed in my lunch" band comprised of high schoolers who wish they could have a show on MTV.

Only 2 of those guys are in highschool and they in fact are doing very well for themselves. They opened up for Mayday Parade last month and are playing Warped Tour this summer, or at least they were. Their bassist, who is also a really good friend of mine, had a stroke yesterday and passed away, so idk what they're going to do. And as far as the ' soul is black ' thing, you must not be able to read into music very well, as that song has nothing to do with anything like that.
But hey, I appreciate the hostility. I was getting a little bored with people being able to carry on a conversation without getting defensive. Being a b**** is where it's at for sure.
Was he on his way to Cold Stone?
Okay, maybe I didn't make myself clear.
Don't bring personal attacks into this again, anybody. Not a single goddamn one of you.
This thread is a discussion of MySpace and Facebook and not about a contest as to whose site would be better used for band bookings or for personal insults.

@ Tshael: Ya know that's the second time I've heard that joke and I still don't get it. o.O
Someone explain plz.
Edit:: Also, I find that Facebook is a little more complicated than Myspace. Maybe I'm just used to Myspace. Plus I hate all those application request things. I don't really get the point of them.
