Edmund Talbott
05-18-08, 11:21 PM
Name: Edmund Talbott
Age: 23
Race: Human
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 230lbs
Occupation: Templar

Personality: Edmund is a calm, methodical, orderly man. Quietly homosexual, he displays few stereotypes that accompany his tendencies. He is very much a masculine figure, and mocking his sexuality or his honor is likely to acquire one a new breathing apparatus. As a Templar his duty is to protect those without protection, and to uphold the honor and traditions of his name, and any failure to uphold his duty is a stain he will not accept. As such he is nearly a fanatic when duty calls him to action.

Appearance: Tall and thickly muscled, with short cropped medium brown hair and piercing blue eyes, he does not look the part of a holy warrior. Dressed in plain leather clothing, he is fairly unremarkable for a traveler. Colors of dark green, grey, or navy blue will most often be found in his clothes.

History:

As a young man, Edmund was selected by an obscure religious order to become a Knight Templar. His qualifications were fairly meager, as they were for every other member of the order. He had a strong ability to channel divine energy, and with the assistance of the Armsmaster and serving Knights, he became a warrior, versed in several schools of weaponry, though more gifted in the power of his God's energy than in using any of the weapons he carries. He has reached the Journeyman stage of his training, and is now gaesed to travel the world of Althanas for three years. He cannot return to the monastery in that time, or he will be stripped of his magic, and rank. If he violates the principles of the order, he will lose his rank and power just as finally.

Skills:

Weapons Skill:

Edmund has been trained in the use of several weapons, but he is by no means expert with any of them. He is trained in the use of the Horsebow, the Mace, the Backsword, and the Lance.

Horsebow: Edmund is a poor shot. He has an adequate rate of fire however, and he can make up for his lack of accuracy with volume to an extent.

Mace: His preferred weapon, he is average in its use, and will use it when possible. Its striking power is greater than a sword, but there are situations where it is simply not practical.

Targe: His heavy round shield is as much a weapon as anything else he carries. Useful in bashing and slamming opponents, its wicked spike can also be brought into play under certain circumstances.

Auras: Edmund may have only one aura active at once. They may serve many purposes. The three he can currently access are Prayer, Might, and Sanctuary. Without his holy symbol, he cannot use any of them. If he wore plate mail he would have taken the precaution of having it forged in place on his armor. There is a five minute delay between the deactivation of one aura, and the activation of another.

Prayer: Edmunds fervent pleas to his God allow him to heal himself and any others near him. It takes a very long time, and is physically taxing. Healing a small cut may take as much as five full minutes. The greatest use of this is to stop bleeding. As long as this ability is active, Edmund will not bleed to death, and neither will any of his allies. He may still be killed by normal means, and blood loss still weakens him. With more dangerous injuries, so long as his power works, the condition will not worsen, but healing other than at a natural pace is unlikely.

Might: Divine power suffuses his muscles, and those of his allies, increasing their strength. With greater power in his God, will come greater strength. At the moment it only strengthens a person to one and a half times an average humans.

Sanctuary: Cloaked in the cleansing divine fire of his God, Edmund is a threat to all undead. Lesser undead within ten yards of him will have their energy slowly sapped, until the dark magics that animate their wretched forms are exhausted, and they fall to the ground destroyed. Greater undead will be weakened, but it will take hours to destroy their animating essence, and by the time that has occurred, he will likely be destroyed.

Combat Skills: Divine strength surges through his weapons at need. When called upon, his God may bolster his attacks, at a price.

Smite: Channeling a portion of holy power into his shield, he strikes out with it, hoping to catch his opponent off guard. Enemies struck by smite may be knocked back or stunned by the discharge of holy power into their bodies. Lesser undead may be destroyed outright, especially if they are already being weakened by Sanctuary.

Zeal: Edmund strikes with a frenzy of blows, using the power of his belief to bolster his striking speed. He can currently strike twice in the time a normal man would strike once when using Zeal. These strikes are weaker than average, but the ability to land a blow while your opponent is still recovering from your first strike may be worth the relatively light impact they recieve. These strikes hit with approximately three quarters of the power of a regular strike. Zeal may be used once per day.

Equipment:

Traveling pack with supplies, bedroll, and camp necessities

Horsebow and 70 Arrows: A bone and wood composite recurve bow with a number of arrows.

Steel Mace: A solid steel flanged mace.

Steel and Oak Targe: A solid oak backed steel shield, with a spiked boss in the center.

Steel Chainmail Hauberk: A steel shirt of chainmail that reaches down past his knees, and has long sleeves. Good defense against slashing blades and piercing weapons.

Holy Symbol: A simple iron symbol of a pair of crossed swords over a shield. It is the emblem of his God, and the source of his power. Without it he cannot harness any of his auras, though he may still be able to call on his combat skills.

World of Althanascraft.

Edmund shouldn't be able to change auras without a 5 minute wait or something.

Zeal should be usable once per day.

Might should increase someone's power by .5 a regular human's, not half again their usual strength. That'd make especially strong characters quite the beast.
