Savexx
05-28-08, 03:22 PM
Name: Savexx Morgenstern
Age: 55
Gender: Male (In life. Now more commonly reffered to as "it", rather than "he")
Race: Ghoul (formerly Human)
Hair Color: Dried, cracked and yellow (Blonde and flowing in life)
Eye Color: Milky-white and pupiless (Crystaline blue in life)
Height: 3'2" at the shoulder (On all fours. Formerly 6'0" while alive)
Weight: 107lbs (Emaciated and decayed. Was closer to 200 in life)
*Occupation: Flesh-hunting undead cannibal powered by the negative energy seeping in through the nether realms.

*Personality: Savexx is cold and calculating. Because its life is no longer measured by the passing of years, it has become patient and cruel, waiting days or sometimes even months before executing the kill. Savexx is primarily driven by the eternal hunger for humanoid flesh raging within it, so social interaction is usual awkward at best. Only the most unsavory or adventurous people usually draw near the untrustworthy undead for more than one mutually benificial arrangement at a time. Savexx is able to count others as friends, but woe to any "friends" who find themselves the only source of warm blood for miles, on a long excursion.

In life Savexx Morgenstern was something completely different. The image of the gallant hero on a white horse; kind and just. Some of Savexx's code of honor still bleeds through in moments where its humanity comes to surface, but as the years drag on, these fleeting occasions are fewer and farther between.

Appearance: Savexx has more in common with a hunting animal than with a human. He lurks about, sniffing the air as it creeps forward, loping at a swift and unnatural pace, and full out running on all fours like a wolf. Its gums and lips have long since rotted, giving way to a long-toothed, and feral "smile". Savexx's eyes are milky white, the pupils melted away to leave its visage in a blank stare. Course, yellow hair that seems to be more like quills and less like the soft, human hair it once was, sprouts from its skull and works its way down Savexx's back and shoulders. No muscles cover Savexx's torso, and it now appears frail and gaunt, almost skeletal. Its once strong hands are now gnarled and boney, ending in vicious, gore-stained claws. Its arms and legs have become sinewy, the skin pulled tight over the rotting limbs. Scars adorn its body like a cloak, most of which appear to be teethmarks.

Savexx's modesty was lost with its humanity, and now it wears only a meager amount of clothing. A thin leather loincloth covers it from the hips down, under the tattered remains of a chainmail skirt. A long leather chord binds Savexx's arms from shoulder to wrist, strenthening joints that no longer have strong muscle to hold them in place.

History:

Savexx Morgenstern was once a great hero of legend. With justice and riteousness on his side, he slew evil demons and dragons with reckless abandon. He saved princess, put an end to the tyranny of foul sorcerers, and trained many squires to become fine men, and hearty warriors. For the last few years of his life, Savexx rode a great white stallion into combat, riding up and down the war-torn fields, smiting and converting all those who crossed his path. The life of the Savexx the Great was destined to be a long and fruitful one...

Until the day he met the Widow Venstraa.

The Widow Venstraa was a Witch of small repute, once of the wife of the great Necromancer, Chardillionaire. Chardillionaire was slain at the hands of Savexx in an epic battle in the highest room of his black tower. Savexx took the foul wizard's head and brought it to the mayor of the small town that Chardillionaire had ravaged with his dark magicks for nearly a decade, as a gift.

The Widow Venstraa in her grief, plotted her revenge for years, seeking out answers in the netherworld to undo the brave hero who murdered her husband.

The spirits had an answer for her.

"The shining one," they spoke, "his power lies not in his steel or in his strength, but rather, in his honor and perseverance. The people love him, and as his legend grows, so too does his power. Slay the legend, and so too, does the hero die."

Venstraa slaved over her cauldron for years, her talon fingers wriggling with ghastly magics, tracing forbidden words in the dark brew. When it was complete, she sought out the shining hero.

Savexx was dining in a small city tavern one evening, pouring over stories of his glory to all those who would listen (which included more or less everyone in earshot). They flocked around the glowing man, eager to hear another tale of bravery and good triumphing over evil.

"A toast then!" came a call from the back of the crowd, "To our brave hero, who has never let us down in our time of need!"

A sultry woman, shapely; all hips and curve, swaggered forward, a chalice in her hand. Cries of "HERE HERE!" rang ot through the dimly lit tavern, and Savexx accepted the cup gratefully. When he turned to thank the young woman however, she was nowhere to be found. Such a brave and legendary hero would not notice the unfamiliar crone slipping out the front doors, a grin from ear to ear.

Days passed, then weeks, as Savexx rode from battle to battle, always emerging triumphantly. He returned to his castle a month after his fateful run in with the widow, where he would host a party to once again regail in his triumphs. Noble men and women came from all across the country to attend. The night was filled with wine and merry making, the brave knight tending to his guests long past sundown. Just before midnight, the Baroness of the land raised her glass, and proposed a toast to the brave warrior, but as the belltower chimed, signaling midnight, Savexx's face twisted into that of a feral animal, and he grabbed the baroness, sinking his powerful jaw into her fragile, elegant wrist. There was a sickening crunch, as the bones cracked and separated. The onlookers gasped, and several women including the baroness, fainted. Their consorts quickly revived them and rushed from the castle, leaving Savexx pleading and begging forgiveness from the castle steps, completely unaware of what he had done.

In the following year, there were fewer and fewer parties. Savexx's demeanor started to turn savage, lashing out at servants against even the slightest trespasses. He began ordering young woman from the surrounding villages be brought to him for late night rendezvous, most of which returned to their homes battered and broken, refusing to speak of what had happened. Eventually, they just stopped returning.

Rumors began to circulate of depraved acts of lewdness and cannibalism taking place in the cellar of Castle Morgenstern. Screams echoed across the countryside at midnight every night, carried on the cold winds. The fields around the land slowly became barren, and eventually, a safe-haven for creatures of the night. Villages started becoming desolate ghost towns, their inhabitants fled, or worse.

Three years after Savexx's fall from grace, the local dukes began organizing a strike force of adventurers and mercenaries. It was obvious by that time that the root of the taint stemmed from Castle Morgenstern, and had to be dealt with. Most of Savexx's loyal guards had turned on him and fled, most of which now found themselves part of the group being organized against their former honored lord.

The group took the castle easily, finding little defense other than traps that the former guards could easily bypass. The castle was eerily silent this night, the upper 2 floors all but abandoned. When they made their way to the cellar, the shock and terror set in as they realized the cause of the vacant keep. Savexx sat naked and cross-legged on the cold, hard stone of the cellar. Strewn about him were the bones of many human victims. Men, women, children. The only remains intact enough to recognize, was the large haunch of meat in Savexx's hands, and the eviscerated body of his once noble steed, now gasping for breath in the final moments of its life.

The assembled warriors fell on him without mercy.

One year later, on that same accursed anniversary, Savexx's eyes opened. His body had been preserved, but changed. He began to rise, but fell, unable to stand up straight. As his eyes adjusted, they picked their way though the dried bones, to a lone, grinning figure leering over his naked form.

"Slay the legend, and so too, does the hero die," the form cackled.

Savexx covered his ears, his heightened senses unable to block out the high pitched cackle.

"Or perhaps a toast then?" the witch sneered mockingly.

Savexx rose once again, his anger bubbling over, his fangs bared. It was then that the Widow Venstraa's mistake was revealed to her. When a hero, tainted by evil who savors the taste of human flesh is slain, so shall he rise again, as a ghoul. A creature with no morals or inhibitions. It cares nothing for the lives of the living, only for the taste of the marrow that would soon seep from the old crone's bones. Savexx rose from his horrific feast, the witch now a barely recognizable heap of gore. Savexx left his keep casting off his former glory, and took to the fields like a hunting dog, the scent of warm blood wafting through his nostril's from the horizon.

Skills:

Unnatural Grace - The unholy energy that fuels Savexx grants it speed and agility unlike that of the average human. It is eerily graceful, rarely stumbling or being tripped. It can keep pace with all but the fastest humans (including natural athletes, but not those PC's enhanced by unnatural or supernatural means, or races that are naturally faster than humans), and possesses tumbling skills like that of a novice circus acrobat.

Touch of the Grave - The filth coating Savexx's claws carry a supernatural disease. Anyone rended by Savexx's claws, and that are within at most one level above its own or less, can be affected. The filth courses through the bloodstream hardening the joints and making the opponent's next few actions (opponent's choice of just how much they're hampered) slow and uncoordinated. At most this ability lasts for 3 actions which include melee attacks, firing a gun, running away, and use of some extraordinary abilities, although opponents may roleplay side-effects as they see fit, including infection, sickness, or prolonged affliction described above on less hardy characters. This ability has no affect on the Undead, True Demons (non-humanoid), characters more than 1 level above Savexx, or any other non humanoid or animal creatures.

*Undead Regeneration - Because Savexx is not truly alive, he can not truly be killed. Any Damage sustained that would normally kill a human (including flesh-wounds, burns, decapitation, loss of limbs, etc) merely subdues Savexx and render him helpless, but can be regenerated over the course of a week. Severed limbs need only be held to the stump to be reattached. Limbs that are not reattached are naturally regenerated over the course of that month and the old ones wither and turn to sand. Savexx is capable of being alert even if its head is not attached although its motor skills are impared to a slow crawl. The effect of the complete destruction of Savexx's body is unknown.

((*Note. This ability has no real impact on play. Its just my alternative to being resurrected after battles or quests should he die, although it may have stronger properties upon level ups.))

Equipment:

Chain Skirt - This steel linked, battered skirt of chainmail is all the protection Savexx has, covering him from the hips to his knees. It serves only to protect his legs and allow him to pass through civilized lands without being subjected to laws regarding indecency.

Claws - Although not actually equipment, his claws are included in this section as they will strengthen over time. Right now they have the hardness and durability of sharpened bone, and are each approximately an inch in length.
