View Full Version : What I offer to you.

Hey Althanas, guess what? I'm starting a revolution. Ain't that awesome? Read my speech and maybe throw me a helping hand? It's full of errors, I'm aware. I plan to leave them in, thus illustrating I am still only human, thus promoting equality.

--------

I sit here, alone, in my computer chair, and I look over the vast communities and knowledge base that we have as a single unity. We are the internet. We have our forums, our chats, our games, all that lie without prejudice, every persons face not known, we can have our say and our words are heard by all.

It is my belief that we have the option to change the future for our children and ourselves. We have the world to inherit and the communities and values we craft now shall forever be burned into the soil, passed on for generations to come, in our children, their children and family lines to come.

Acceptance is an issue we have always had, and I appreciate and understand that some things just cannot go together, like orange juice after brushing your teeth. We all have our likes and dislikes.

What I am proposing is that we change the world. A step at a time. This will not happen in the space of minutes, days, weeks or even months. What I am proposing will take years, but I know, you, as an intellectual who values what you will leave behind for your name sake and mine, can make that difference, if not alone, but together.

We are of different colours, races and beliefs, but all in all, we all hold one value, devoid of social background and culture. That is peace.

I ask not of you to shed your religion, not dispose of who you are for the better of man kind.

Instead, I reach out to you, as a human being, to take initiative, to rise up against every moment that is trully a risk.

From the gay, to the straight, to outright kinky, it's our job, as human beings, to ensure that this world does not go to waste. Our words, our actions, as a whole, must speak out and touch the masses, we are today, we are yesterday. We are tomorrow.

And to start this movement. I bring forth to you a tree. This tree may be outside your window, in your park, down the street or just a tree in your mind. This tree is growing, housing life, like birds, butterflies and squirrels. I'd like you to take a good look at this tree and consider in those very few moments of your life. What that tree has gone through, what that tree has given us, what brought that tree into existance and what is to become of that tree.

I know, you, all of you, regardless of belief, will be able to see the pain and suffering of those arround us. I only hope your tree is one that offers life, shelter and peace, because that tree is branching our community, supporting our leaves of life and rooting us in a pure and well meaning community. I propose a new mindset. Accepting and ready for peace, words our only weapons against those that stand against us.

Would you want to start a revolution with me? It's your future, everyday is yours for the taking and we can change the world for the better.

Do you have the power to influence a peaceful mindset? I perhaps, may not, but join me, even if not hand in hand, but word by word, we'll cut down the pain and replace it with peace.

What I offer to you - Tomorrow.

I ask of you, if you wish to help my movement, post this speech in your favourite message boards as a new topic, do not spam it, do not flame those who disagree, only educate, we are tomorrow, we are not here to argue or fight. We simply want what our families deserve.

O_o

It's a little vague for my tastes. And by a little, I mean a lot, and by vague, I mean "speeches need a point, and this one doesn't seem to have one."

If you want revolution, you need a goal, and you need to be able to get that across effectively. Saying that you want something to happen isn't enough; the "I have a dream" speech would have been nothing if the man who uttered the words hadn't had goals and didn't actively work toward them.

So...before the revolution begins...what are you trying to accomplish, and how do you plan to do it?

I'm attempting to influence the masses to make their own changes, if you look, there are very subtle and mental hints that attempt to make a person adopt a new mindset. That's all I'm attempting. I cannot expect a revolution just on my part, but if I can get those who understand this post to go out and make even the smallest difference, then slowly and surely, there will be a change.

Instigating a single direct change is only bound to fail because there is always someone who does not like that change. If instead, you influence someone to make a positive change of their own and thus change the world around them, the resulting impact is a mass majority thinking more about what they do, how they do it and why they are doing it. My speeches only goal is to influence those with the ability to make change and influence others, to do just that.

It's a pretty dream.

But dreams only come true with hard work and sacrifice, even in fairy tales. A wee bit speech does not a revolution make, mon petit.

For a revolution, the masses need to make their own ideals and follow them.

My ideals are here, and how I propose to achieve them also. It's a possibility, if even weak. But a dream that's worth pushing for. The work and sacrifice is that work of not but myself, but the world.

I may not be able to change everything, but if I can give even one person liberation, then I have succeeded in my goals.

I have to agree with Kially.
I got the point myself right after reading it, but that was just me. And hey, if Kially himself changes the way he looks at things, then I believe he's already succeeded. I posted a rant on how men should not treat women just as sex objects, and it was a major success. But I felt that I had already achieved the goal I had in mind just by writing it: the fact that at least one person had thought that way was an accomplishment in itself. For each person, no matter who they are, has the capability to affect and change the world, even if they don't do it actively. Just by being yourself, you constantly change others, day by day, and in turn are changed yourself.

Well, i'm done. Onwards and forwards with your arguments, and such.

I said it once, i'll say it again, i really put nothing past Kially, heck to be honest i actually didn't see this coming.

I agree with Kially here, save for the part that the world is filled with so many dickheads I almost wish the next generation is mauled by squirrels, then again we would probably nuke them and declare war.

oh well ... who wants popcorn chicken?

INTERNET REVOLUTION!

Oh shi-

Edit: Reading this again, it's probably the most hilariously tepid manifesto I've ever seen. "Go forth and do good." Awesome; thanks. It's like one of those weird Lifetime movies who's sole message seems to be "beating women is bad." Like it's some socially accepted norm or some shit.

I wrote it actually. But hey. <3

My opinion: this is silly.

But a hint for next time. When you're trying to "influence the masses", don't refer to them as 'the masses'. No one likes being called a sheep.

Oh, an internet revolution? I don't really think you can top what an online terrorist group called Anonymous did. They hijacked the server for an epilepsy community help site and embedded in hi-speed, flashing slogans supporting their group into the site so whenever somebody went to the website they were bombarded with the images. From what I heard, a lot of people ended up getting rushed to the hospital and all that.

Winterhair

I heard about that. That freaks me out. As someone with epilepsy, I know just how scary that shit is. 0_0

Well, a revolution is a revolution, all the same, even if only in the mind of one person. But i'm not going to spew metaphysical bullshit all over the place, so voila'.

Sorry, I guess I am with Karu and the others; this isn't doing it for me. -_-'

The only thing I got from that speech was "change", this felt like a Barack Obama cameo, except that Barack's overly dramatic speeches have a hint of sense in them.

I didn't really understand in what specific way shape or form you expect this revolution to change people.

Opinion time:

Theory = good.

But in practice, due to the sheer diversity of the individual human conciousness and the fact that people are too focused on their own individual issues than gathering together and making anything change in the world as a collective, it doesn't work.

It's a shame.
