Joshua Uptike III
06-09-08, 12:16 PM
Against initial reports, this particular night in Corone was an unsettled one. Hail and rain pounded against the fragile windows of Uptike Manor, as its single inhabitant tried his best to fall and remain asleep through the vicious storm.
Wincing as a piece of ice thudded against the glass, he tugged his duvet up and over his head, now completely sheltered, only tufts of blonde hair visible against the white of his pillow.
He had not rested at all that night, but as he glanced at his watch this seemed to matter less. Soon he would have to wake to do the early morning rounds of his home, which had become the usual during the past few nights. It was not out of the ordinary for kids to break in to his property, usually to roam the grounds but occasionally he would realise a statue or ornament had disappeared, hedges had been destroyed, chaos and destruction and therefore his rounds had been intergrated into his routine.
Groaning as he peeled the sheets from his thin frame, his pale complexion glistening in the moonlight, only to discard it aside. Rising from his bed, he made the short walk over to his window, tugging his robe around him for decency.
It was not long before Joshua was sharply awoken from his drowsy state, the sight in the back garden startling him. Peering through the darkness he could make out a lone figure, scurrying into the woods that surrounded his home. Grabbing the sword from his nearby fencing equipment, he began towards the lower level of his home.
