Name: Liken Darkwatch
Sex: Male
Age: 19
Race: Human
Height: 6 feet
Weight: 175 pounds
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Blue
Occupation: Dark Magician

Appearance: Liken is a rather unimposing youth. He has a slim build, obviously unaccustomed to regular athleticism or sunlight given his pale skin. The simple circular lenses he wears dominate his face, though he does have refined features. He shaves his head whenever he shaves, but it’s fairly common for him to go a week or more without shaving, though he never gets much beyond shadowy fuzz. Fashion sense seems to escape him, leading to him wearing pants and shirts of a single color.

Personality: Liken enjoys reading and intellectual activities in general with the exception of religious texts. He tends to look down on those he considers below his intellect, effectively the “masses”, though he does so covertly. Getting beaten for being publicly smarter than a brute is just never worth it. Liken comes first is the phrase he repeats often, sacrificing anything and everything to save himself. He doesn’t take very many risks in general and never if it puts him in jeopardy.

Skills:

Summons- Liken is particularly fond of having minions do his bidding and is already a somewhat accomplished summoner. He can maintain a variety of different minions at the same time without any adverse effects to his health or concentration, though not as many as he would like. Currently he can maintain two sentient entities, three automatons, or five animations at once. These can be mixed, but he can only have combinations of one sentient with one automaton, one sentient or one automaton with three animations, and two automatons with one animation.

Sentient Entities: These are thinking creatures that are created, summoned, or dominated by Liken’s will. These can be the form of recently deceased dead, demons, or even sub-human species such as goblins. A sentient entity is weaker than the average human and often easily dispatched. Their value comes in their ability to act independently of Liken.

Automatons: These are unthinking creatures that respond to verbal and visual commands and are capable of only very basic attacks. A typical form would be that of a skeleton or zombie, possibly a recently dead animal. These are much weaker than the average human and are dispatched even easier. Unless explicitly told to guard an area or protect themselves, automatons will often not respond to violence against themselves until ordered to do so. Mainly valuable for moving things, finding things, and as a distraction while Liken escapes.

Animations: These are inanimate objects that Liken is able to bring temporarily to life. He must maintain visual sight of them and focus on manipulating them to move. Typically used for things like walking furniture, lock/unlock doors, self-stirring pots, self-mending clothing, and various other mundane tasks. Animations are typically Liken’s desire to do things from a distance or while seated.

Illusion- Liken has some talent in creating illusions allowing him to create realistic visual and audible illusions. To perform these he must focus on what he wants to appear and he must be present to maintain the illusion once cast. These actively drain on his energies and he has difficulties maintaining large ones after a few minutes. The largest he could create is the size of a small room and drains him immensely. As well, moving illusions more than doubles the energy required.

Lex- Lex is Liken’s familiar. Lex appears as an abnormally large cat, or perhaps an abnormally small leopard. He has a long light grey coat with large black circles similar to a leopard and a completely white underbelly. He stands at Liken’s knees in height is about three feet long, not including the two foot tail, and weighs in at around thirty pounds. Lex is capable of speech and has a low level telepathic bond with Liken allowing them to know each other’s location and mood, but no more than that.

History: Liken was born in the town of Underwood, known for its simple lumber industry and peaceful way of life. At an early age he began to devour any books he found and especially the ones instructing the use of magic. By age nine, he was using small illusions to frighten other children. By age fifteen he had mastered the basics of summoning and managed to move out of his parents and away from Underwood. With some distance between himself and civilization Liken was able to move his studies into necromancy, to the misfortune of criminals taking refuge from the law and lost adventurers alike. Unfortunately, it was this same move that forced his hasty withdrawal from his forest home.

Still new to commanding beings that only followed orders in the most literal sense, Liken inadvertently ordered a skeleton to search for people. The intent had been to watch for approaching people, but his wording was poor. The skeleton managed to find a Corone Ranger and was promptly destroyed. Not only did he lose a perfectly good skeleton, but Liken then had the rangers searching for a necromancer in the forest. Gathering his few belongings, Liken abandoned his home and left the forest seeking to expand his powers somewhere safer.
