Name:Voronkova "Stormweb" Amutek
Age: 34
Race: Herptian
Hair Color: n/a
Eye Color: Red
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 221 lbs
Occupation: Mercenary

Personality:
Although a difficult, irascible and unquestionably violent individual, Voronkova adheres to a strict warrior's code of honour that prevents him, for the moment, from completely jumping off the deep end. Besides this one redeeming quality, he generally makes for very poor company. He's insufferably proud with a loose cannon temper and an unfortunate propensity toward hypocrisy, and his table manners are atrocious. "Fuzzies", the derogatory name for mammalians in his culture, seem to warrant a particularly hostile attitude. Voron is highly intelligent and rather articulate when he needs to be, however his short fuse and lack of social etiquette often interfere with any meaningful encounters to be had. Thusly, most assume the bitter saurian quite primitive.

A Bit about the Herptians:
Herptians are human-sized, largely carnivorous bipedal reptoids. They are typically digitigrade with three clawed fingers, one of which is opposed, and three toes, although mutations do occur. Many have tails and scant feathering. A common facial structure is that of an elongated 'raptor-like' muzzle and large forward facing eyes. In a dimorphic sense, females are usually built lighter than males, but this is certainly not the rule.

An ancient matriarchal race known for their xenophobic leanings and affinity with dark magic, Herptians prefer to distance themselves from mainstream society and are a rare sight outside their home territories. It is said they were once a powerful nation, but in the wake of a devastating civil war the population is now fractured and scattered far and wide, without any discernable 'ruler' and cultural aspects varying between settlements.

Appearance:
Voron is wide shouldered and brawny for a fighter of his type, but he maintains a relatively lithe physique. His scales are uniform dull black-blue, broken only by a thin white streak of pigment crossing his right eye at the cornea and continuing down his muzzle, ending at his nostril. A crest of large black and orange-tipped white feathers grow from the back of his skull. The inner toe on each foot has a retractable sickle claw. He seems to wear a permanent scowl.

Clothing: A simple red and black vest with loose black pants that are tied off at the knee, accompanied by a black cloak when necessary. His ankles are wrapped in durable brown material.

Biographical info:
Parentage -
Shirale "Linkeye" Amutek (mother), Orszo "Bluestripe" Camion (father)
Home village: Cenebren, under the leadership of High Priestess Culmiel Ruki and the Council of Seven, located in some distant dusty corner of Fallien.

It was foretold that with his birth the extreme period of drought that Cenebren was experiencing would collapse into life-giving rain, that the child would grow into a powerful Mage of Storms and restore the Seven into Eight, bringing balance at last.

But Voronkova turned out to be utterly un-magical. Everyone was shocked...how could this child, who bore the mark of Kaleiilile, the Goddess of Mercy and Rain, on his face in the form of the One Stripe be so useless? He had not an ounce of magical strength in him. Even the ancestral traits of necromancy were muted. Still, when he came of age the Herptian was given the hopeful tribal name "Stormweb"...but when it was apparent that his supposed powers would not bloom in puberty, the village focused their frustration on the Amuteks, and the family was shunned.

They had wanted an end to the drought. Shirale's first son was to be that end.
Yet still...Cenebren suffered.

Wishing to displace the blame off her own chest, the Priestess Culmiel who prophesied the coming of the storm mage used her powerful influence to make sure Shirale and her household were to take the blame, accusing Shirale of intentionally damaging the egg and ruining any hope for respite. She was forced beyond the village wall to live in a cave dug from the hillside while her Bonded, Orszo, left her side in humiliation.

Shirale was a good mother. Nonetheless Voronkova matured believing himself a failure and the root source of Shirale's pain, and worked hard at trying to restore his familiy's honour by becoming a strong warrior for Cenebren. When no one in the village would teach him kenjutsu he trained by himself using the writings of teachers past and watching tournaments in secret. Jala Sixshot, a retired martial arts trainer, happened to witness one of his solo sessions and saw the prospect in the boy, and took him as her pupil.

Voronkova remained with Jala into adulthood and was able to fight with the Guard on numerous occasions, once against a clan of passing orc raiders who ambushed the village for supplies. However Shirale, already weak with sickness and age, was wounded in that skirmish, left out beyond the protective wall as she had been. Voron pleaded with Culmiel to help her, but she refused and let Shirale die. In anger Voronkova lashed out with his sword, flaying Culmiel's sneering muzzle, and would have surely slain her if he was not tackled and restrained by members of the Guard.

The Council demanded that he leave without his weapons and never return. Torn with guilt that he had not been able to protect Shirale, Voronkova opted for dishonourable banishment instead of the chance for seppuku he had been offered. Jala, disgusted with the way the Council was behaving, left with him. The two travelled an innumerable distance together and experienced many strange things until Jala's accidental death. Her final request was for Voronkova to continue living his life in honour, in respect for her life...and his mother's.
