View Full Version : Tell me if this seems stupid to you, too

Okay, now I was in this Guitar hero tournament, and we were playing the new (Very Sucky, from what I can tell) Aerosmith game. In any case, I hate the multiplayer aspect of that game so much right now, I think I'm going to cry.

Because of 2 major factors, the WORST person there won the whole darned thing. Those two factors are Score Balancing, and a Pity Redo.

Score Balancing: In this guitar hero game, you could hit every single note on expert and still lose to someone playing on easy because the score gets balanced. In other words the maximum score you can get on a song will ALWAYS no matter what the difficulty, be the same as your opponent's highest score on the song. This takes all the point out of playing the higher difficulties on versus.

The Pity Redo: I was in the first round with the kid who eventually won the tournament.

I played versus against him on Hard/Hard and beat him by over 80,000 points. Then the tournament director found out from his friends that the kid was used to playing medium. So he bent the rules, feeling sorry for the kid, allowed him a rematch with me, I still played hard, he played medium. Because of score balancing, he won that match. In fact the reason he won the whole thing was score balancing.

Everyone else there knew how to play hard and some, like me, could even go Expert. But mister can't go higher than medium won the whole tournament.

Does this seem right to ANYONE?

I smell... Rigged. Either that or a pitiful attempt on the Director's end at trying to look nice.

I see no impartiality in the system. A win is a win, a lose is a lose, regardless of score balancing or level of difficulty. In fact, Score Balancing is... What the hell is it for, anyways?

The problem could be that you're also playing different levels of difficulty as well. If you play on even grounds (in this, maybe Medium vs Medium) the difference would be easier to see. For different difficulties, it's like playing Baseball against Cricket.

I still don't see a point here. Are you angry because you lost to someone who's obviously not as good as you?

Rigged. -_-

Well, the score balancing isn't the directer's fault. That was the game itself.

I could have complained and stopped it at the time, but I was too much of a goody two shoes to do so.

The kid got no more redos, but the one redo was all he needed because of the score balancing. I am mad because I could have stopped him and said, just like you, that a win is a win and a loss is a loss. I didn't because I didn't feel like looking like a jerk. I'm Mad because the worst person won the whole Damned thing and I could have stopped him in the first round. It wasn't so much rigged as disorganized in my opinion, but still, this is rediculous.

I'm pissed off right now. So please allow my that one swear word without question.

Man I need somebody to teach me to be a jerk

what the hell. that makes no sense. i just started on medium and if someone went up against me on expert and hit even MOST of the notes(or even with hard) then I would by rights just hand the win off to them. I would forfeit if they gave it to me, cause its not right. that's just mean. >P

That's total BS. I'm a Guitar Hero nut and I don't like to brag but I can play most every song on Expert. I would be downright offended if someone playing me on medium was declared better than me in a tournament. That's the point of a tournament, isn't it? Or any contest for that matter... to prove who is better? Obviously someone who can play the game on hard or expert is much better at the game than someone who plays on medium. That kid should've been told to suck it up and go home and practice more. This is for the big boys.

But this "score balancing" crap is just further proof that GH:Aerosmith is a retarded game. Aerosmith is not good enough to deserve their own guitar hero game. There's a massive list of bands I would've chosen before Aerosmith. Truly legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Who, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd... I could go on.

Anyway if this tournament wanted to be fair to all the little n00blets, they could've had seperate categories for the different difficulties. That way this little dude who thought he could hang on medium would still feel accomplished by winning the medium category and the true GHers could actually win.

Lol sorry some others on the forum don't care as much but I feel your Guitar Hero pain, man. That contest is BS. But the Aerosmith game is BS too.

You can't call Rigged over Idiocy. It sounds like the Director is just a frakkin' moron and should be beat to death with those plastic guitars.

On the same note, playing a useless musical instrument game without knowing how to play the ACTUAL instrument makes you full of Epic Fail and Weaksauce, personally. It's much more awesome and talented to actually play a guitar than a hunk of plastic with buttons on it.

</end failsauce rant>

Of course, if the person insists that they're cool for getting one million points on Guitar Hero...

But thats not the point of the thread, the point of the thread was to complain about the score equalization of differing difficulties, when it should be obvious that people of differing difficulties should not be competing in the first place. Thats why X-Box Live and similar functions ahve it so you can set a max difficulty on the versus matches you play.

Yeah ... and I said he should be beat to death for poor decisions...

...

>_> ...

Yeah well...

XBox is full of fail too. =P So there!

Well yeah if you think you're awesome just because you can play a plastic guitar then yeah you're a retard. But the vast majority of people that I've met that play the game play it because it's FUN. Not because it makes them awesome at guitar.

I can play guitar, but I kinda sux0rz at it. But I can rock some guitar hero, cause I play it all the time, cause I enjoy it.

ANYways, Aerosmith is ghey, that competition is teh failz, and I like the word "failsauce"

Yes, competitive Guitar Hero does seem stupid to me. Thank you for asking.

I'm the same way. Dragonforce, Hard. No problem. It's fun to play.

I'm to the last tier on expert and have beaten Number of the Beast. I've beaten all but 4 bonus songs and all but 4 normal songs on expert.

I play it for fun though.

By the way, Metallica on that list of yours? Thats the next specific band they are making a GH game for.

Specific bands for GH = fail. I could understand if they did specific genre's maybe (ie: classic rock, heavy metal, death metal, [insert decade here]) though I will admit Metallica is about a thousand times better than Aerosmith.

That's like saying syphilis is a thousand times better than AIDS.

I take it you're not a rock fan.

Sure I am. I'm just not a shit fan.

Lets get back on topic.

Although Godhand's insight that Metallica is shit would make for excellent debate in another thread.

EDIT: However this is a matter for another thread and I've learned that lesson ok bye.

I would definitely put Metallica above Aerosmith. But I agree, it would be even cooler to have guitar hero's for different genres or decades.

I haven't played GH3 enough because I'm too cheap to buy it. I've played some, made it through Dragonforce on hard, but my expert-train derailed at the last set.

Anyways I've heard some stuff about the real GH4 and apparently they're including a drumset because rockband is raping them, sales wise.

Tainted Bushido

Its rockband slightly better. Subtle changes that are nicer basically.

Crystal Suncrest

I also hear they are letting you create your own songs in GH4. That is always a plus.
