View Full Version : Two possibilities!

Hey all, I've got two concepts I'm pullin out of the ol' noggin to share with you.

First, as Xos:

The Secret beneath Kessingale

The time has come for Mr. Xilanthes to graduate and become Dr. Xilanthese.
This story takes place off Althanas and in Xos's home reality, in his home city of Kessingale.

After Graduation, which happens in the first post, he sets off to discover the cause of the complete disappearence of magic in his world. Certainly there was a battle between the schools of magic and the laws of science, with science coming out the victor, but that doesn't fully explain how it happened.
After a few days of research, he discovers ancient magic temples buried beneath the sight where Kessingale was constructed long ago. Heading deep into the sewers, we find the entry to these temples, and something else...

So, how do you fit into this?
Xos sets out a notice hiring for a couple of knowledgable and helpful assistants to come help him with his research. He promises in return a powerful item that would be highly difficult to obtain under normal circumstances on Althanas.

What is this item? How many Assistants? Well, depends on how many are intrested and what their skills are. The item can either come from the temple, or from the Galactic Mall.

What's in the Galactic Mall? Melee Weapons! Ranged Weaponry! Armor! Other Nifty items!
Such as The Moleculer Edge. The Moleculer Edge is a bladed weapon, made of steel or better. By a strange coincidence, certain medals in Althanas also exist in Kessingale, only under different names. In our example, The Molecular Edge is a Broadsword made of Pewtonium 32. It's known as The Molecular Edge, because that's precisly how sharp it is, as thick as the molecules that make it up. Pewtonium 32 you ask, what's Pewtonium 32? Well, normally we know it as Delyn, but like I said, It's known as something different in Kessingale.

Due to the high Technological difference, you may not bring something overpowering back from Kessingale. Inter-reality travel is hazardous at best, and such an item surely would not make the trip but the Molecular edge would, after all, it's just a sword with a really sharp edge to it. Now, The high technology will only be in the very beginning, and very end of the thread. (First and last 3 posts or so per person.)

Now, we can discuss what you want from this, but it must be able to be approved by the poor unwitting judge we eventually sic the completed thread on. I have several possibilities for spoils in mind, should you care to hear them all. Some are customizable by personal preference, such as The Molecular edge.

Esmerelda

Cat and Mouse

This thread focuses on Esmerelda's stealth abilities, such as her ability to adopt any normal human female appearance, and her ability to melt into a puddle of goo.

Hearing about Esmerelda's peculiar abilities, a mysterious and as of yet unknown NPC benefactor has agreed to help Esmerelda decorrupt her files, in exchange for a little work. He needs a few, loose ends, tightened up.
One is an assasination, and the rest involve the moving of certain, embarassing items. He doesn't believe she's up to snuff to do this alone though, and has her work with one or two other people he knows can get the job done. Who are these people? You, and you, yeah you, in the corner, next to the chips and dip. Obviously, some details are uncertain, like the assasination target, and the items to be moved to certain destinations, or destroyed, but we can figure that out along with the location of this entire thread. What are you getting out of this? I don't know, that's between you, and the mysterious NPC benefactor...
__________________________________________________ ________

So, I know its the weekend, when activity slows down, but these ideas have come to full maturation.

Talk to me, lemme know what you want! Which thread, threads, do you want to participate in?

If it's Xos's thread, what did you have in mind for a spoil, or did you want to hear the full range of spoil possibilities I had in mind.

I'm interested in the Xos thing but Kially will eventually have something akin to that sharpness anyhow as his Wind Blade edge will eventually evolve to 'Split Atom edge'.

I'd very much like to hear your full range of spoils ideas. As nice as a sword would be, Kially is as weak as anything, attempting to pick up a sword of any variety is not only out of his character but near impossible.

If we do come to some sort of agreement, we'll probably need to tweak the story lines a little too, as I doubt anyone would hire a child just like that, so, for continuities sake, we'd probably need to work a little something out, more like, YOUR character hiring Kially as either bait or a simple lackey or something. I'm sure we could work something out, I'd just like to hear the spoils you have in mind, as Kially is, as I've promised myself and mods, a none PC combatant, having an excellent sword that could slice through near anything is pointless for me and would ruin play significantly.

Throw me some ideas, opinions and what not, and we can more than likely work something out, although honestly, if your heart is REALLY set on that sword, I could see us having a hard time getting it past the judges as a spoil for you.

Like I said, their customisable, and it was just an example.

Knowing that Kially's a wee cute little child, AND a non-combatant, Yeah, I can see him being a lackey for Xos. Kessingale, as I've said, is high-technology. (Trekish, as an example, but not neccessarily trek style, but about that level.) Children do commonly find weekend jobs driving carts. Not really driving as we think of it, but more like we are now, sitting a computer guiding it. I'll explain in more detail ICly later. But, yeah, the lackey angle would work, to haul up items from the ruins beneath kessingale for further examination in better surroundings.

As for spoils, geared for child non-combatants.
From the Galactic Mall:

Angel Co. Armor.
It's light weight armor made of *insert Althanian metal of choice here* and embedded with weight reducers to take the strain off children. Essentially, it's a child sized Chainmail shirt. The Weight reducers recharge quickly in sunlight, and slower in moon or artifical light, taking a day in sunlight, a week in other light. Normal weight is dependant upon the metal used, reduced weight is 50% there of. Why Armor? Because despite peaceful efforts, you may not always be able to avoid taking a hit, and when that happens, you don't want to be unprotected.

Hermies Co Shoes.
The Hermies Company was originally a delivery service, but time, and technology, made them irrelevant, as other companies bought up their business. However business was saved, when they test marketed their shoes they made for their own employees to the world at large. Discovering they had a hit product, they fired non-essential personel, and turned into a shoe company.

The models you would be allowed to get have the following properties:
>>> Swift step: Embedded technology enables the wearer to move at an extra fifty percent of their normal speed. Originally neccessary for speedy deliveries, now it's reserved for the business man in a hurry. ( so that would be 1.5 times faster than average while wearing them.)

>>> Traction control: Not every surface provides good traction, and some are downright slippery and dangerous! Traction Control is operated by a sensor, that activates miniture forcefields in the tread of the shoe that increases traction until either not needed, or energy runs out. Does not protect against offensive flooring.

These shoes recharge their own energy, but do not last forever. After about fifty or so threads, they will have been damaged beyond use.

Finally, The Worite 300. Though true it is an energy weapon, it has the same offensive power as a lightning bolt cast at level 2. It does not shoot electricty, but light energy, and in the magical world of Althanas, would act as a sort of offensive holy weapon. Again, I know you don't fight, but in the future, may have to blast your way out of a sticky situation. the Worite 300 has three uses per charge, and can only recharge in direct sunlight, requiring one hour per charge, for a max of three charges.

If there's something else you had in mind that we might get at the Galactic Mall, let me know. It's mostly for science based weaponry, even if it is hazy and somewhat dodgy at best science.

So then, we move onto
The Temples beneath Kessingale:

The Temples beneath kessingale were home to magic of all sorts. Though most of the items are now trash, some few things still work. Among the few things you might like are

The Tome of Geo: The Tome of Geo belonged to a great master Geomagus convieniently enough named Geo. It's filled with the forgotten lore that Geo knew. Surely someone who was following in his steps would find the tome very helpful, and very educational....

The Ruby of Gess: Gess was an unnaturally lucky man. Everything he put has hand to worked out in his favor greatly. When he died an ironicly unlucky death involving a fully enraged 16 foot Octopus with fifty times the strength of any human, his remains were gathered, and a group of greedy wizards put his luck into the ruby. They weren't completly successful, lacking all his remains, and therefore all his luck, however it is still a very lucky ruby, giving it's possesor great luck on occasion. However sometimes it doles out very bad luck indeed.

Again, any ideas, speak now, or forever hold your peace. Also, the sword was in mind for certain warriors of higher levels, than either of us.

Also, that leaves room for one person able to participate in combat. There is after all, a very NASTY surprise waiting for us in the temples.

Oh, Kially *can* fight NPCs, just not players, as, perhaps you can see from Kiallys' item collection and abilities, he could easily be power gamed and Kially WOULD fight like that.

Just think of it this way...Imagine a completely invisible opponent that could take a handful of dust/sand/dirt and throw it in your face and in doing such, completely and more than likely permanently blinding you because it turns out all said dust is as sharp as a finely crafted samurai sword.

I've not been told I CAN'T go into the citadel or anything, but I'm holding a promise both to myself and the mods that on the basis Kially can become all powerful and cheap, that I do not attack player characters.

It may be better to get a character more geared for combat though as Kially can take the whole assassin approach to things with immense speed and dirty tactics.

As for a spoil, he's already got armor planned out for him and some special boots upcoming in a thread that I'm hiring for soon.

I like the spoil ideas you have, very original, but none would really work for Kially. Hmm...

How about a never ending bag of an unknown crystal powder? Eh...I dunno. Would make Kially immensely cheap. Scratch that.

I was thinking, maybe a ring of some sort. Any ideas? An artifact lifted from the temple.

Jump your ass back onto MSN and we can discuss this and work it all out.

I'm on, but where are you?

I would still like at least one other research assistant. That's one tough surprise waiting for us.
