Name: Drake Alabane
Gender: Male
Race: Element (Darkness)
Age: 30
Height: 6 foot 3 inches
Weight: 160 pounds
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Black
Occupation: Magic Police

Appearance
Drake appears to be a tall human with a lithe build. His short dark hair appears to always be in motion and has a smoke-like quality to it. All black eyes stare out of his fine boned face, unmarked by scars and surprisingly tan. He wears dark clothes with a loose breezy style to them and occasionally wears a hooded black cloak as well.

Personality
Drake is as normal as he can be, considering. He likes jokes, women, dogs, drinking, gambling, and excelling. He feels especially compelled to do his duty, but he’s not uptight about it. Drake especially dislikes necromancers, necromancy, vampires, ghosts, liches, the undead, worshippers of N’Jal, or any other perversions of nature. He doesn’t shy from fighting and has a rather competitive streak.

Unique Biology
While he seems mostly human on the outside, his insides say quite differently. Most obviously, he is lacking in most internal organs. He has a single lung slightly smaller than normal, though it’s only purpose is for conversation. He has an underdeveloped heart as well, which he does need unlike the lung. Drake’s blood consisted of a highly humid gas that is black and disperses quickly in the air. When wounded, it takes longer than normal for an inky condensate to form over the wound and stop blood loss. His blood is toxic to most beings if consumed in high enough concentration, though they would pretty much need to breathe it right from the wound to be affected. Sufficiently lethal or numerous cuts on his body will be enough to incapacitate him for a great deal of time, though he will eventually revive unless his body is burned or otherwise destroyed entirely.

Skills
Sword Combat: Drake could be considered of above average skill in his ability to fight with a sword. His style favors speed, focused mainly on quick deadly strikes and deflecting counterattacks.

Speed: Drake is approximately one and a half times as fast as a normal human. This applies to his reaction time, running speed, and combat movement. He also has slightly increased agility to enable this speed without injuring himself.

Magic Absorption: Drake will always drain at whatever energy is around him, as is his nature. The amount is so insignificant and gradual that most living beings will never notice it. With a moment’s concentration, Drake can choose to absorb specifically magic at a dramatic rate. At this point, he is capable of absorbing one or two moderately powerful spells completely. Moderate is relative to his own strength. He stores the energy from these spells in place where his stomach would normally be and needs several hours to digest the energy before he can do so again. If he receives a significant wound to his gut, the spell energy can explode out of his body and completely incapacitate him.

Magic

Elemental: Drake is an elemental of darkness, and this comes with some draw backs. First, being in places of very high magic energy it will actually cause him pain and places of incredible magic energy may cause him to lose form. Second, he is weak to weapons that emit light. Lastly, powerful mages with experience dealing with ethereal creatures may be able exert a measure of control over him.

Inventory
Drake carries with him a light steel scimitar of good quality. The scimitar is slightly curved with the blade height increasing closer to the tip giving it a slightly exotic appearance. He also carries with him a gold pouch, a few minor travel supplies, a detailed map, a bedroll, a thick leather-bound book that is mostly blank, and a quill with ink.

History
Drake has been alive for nearly thirty years, as best he can tell. Many times he was summoned by mages over the years, each time he grew a little and become more developed. At first he was a primal formless entity, a swirling mass of darkness with tremendous power. He was used to kill, that much he remembers though little else. Later on, he started to take a human shape with each summoning, growing weaker as he did. He mindlessly obeyed what his summoner commanded, but slowly he was becoming aware of his actions. Nearly eleven years ago was the first time he became capable of speech, but it only made the killing worse when he could understand the sounds his victims made.

With speech came the turning point in his life. With his own personal evolution, Drake began to be summoned more and more often for conversation rather than as tool for destruction. The most frequent was a summoner by the name of Alabane. Alabane taught him many things, speaking with him almost daily and calling him for no other reason. He even gave Drake his name, and much of Drake’s beliefs were held by Alabane as well, particularly on the proper use of magic and how it hurts or helps the world. When Alabane passed away during the Demon Wars, Drake was forgotten.

Over two thousand years later, Drake felt a familiar tug at his being and answered the call. Fully aware, Drake found himself inside a lair of sorts, filled with animated skeletons. Recognizing at once that it was necromancer who summoned him, Drake broke the necromancers hold and slew the startled mage. Slaying his anchor, Drake had expected to be drawn back into the nether, but instead he remained. He had never been weaker, but Drake reveled in the newfound power he had to hold himself to Althanas.

A year passed, and now he travels the world seeking out corrupt necromancers, that they may share the fate of his final summoner.
