Here. (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/masseffect/news.html?sid=6194664)

I know some people might be disappointed by this, but I think it's really exciting that we've finally got some news on the next Knights of the Old Republic.

I'm a little curious about people's reactions, though. I know this was touched upon in a previous thread, and there were a number of mixed feelings.

Well, I'm excited about it. Of course, depending on the monthly fee, I may or may not actually be able to play it... but as long as they don't sacrifice the story elements too much (and contrary to popular belief, an MMO can have a great storyline, it's just that most of them don't bother to make the effort) I think it'll be good.

The trouble is, most people are whining about how they'd rather KOTOR 3 be a single-player game, but all the while I'm wondering where they got the impression that this KOTOR MMO is KOTOR 3. There's no reason that they can't release another single-player KOTOR down the road.

I don't know. I'm not much of a gamer these days--and personally, I find MMO's boring. I mean, there simply is no point to them really, in my opinion. But I loved KotoR, so mebbe. I'd have to look more into it to be more excited.

I still have serious doubts about an ability of any new MMO to achieve true financial success. Fantasy mmos are just an automatic fail. This setting has a better shot, but at the same time I feel like sci-fi settings really have a rough time fitting with the standard mmo mechanics. Now, don't take that as saying I don't think you can make some new mechanics that do work, but I don't really credit people as being able to make that kind of great leap forward. If they do, great, but I doubt it. It's going to try to be like other MMOs, most likely, and fail because other MMOs already have players and are patched and people are invested.

This blows. I was sincerely hoping that the rumors were not true and that the next KotOR wouldn't be a MMORPG because I personally love the world of KotOR. Turning it into a MMORPG would butcher it. Yes, it's possible to incorporate a good story into a MMORPG, but I am yet to see that and still it can never drive you as a player in the same manner that it can in a single-player. And the story is one of the best (if not the best) part of the KotOR games.

I think that EA is by and large the reason why the next KotOR is a MMORPG. EA is all about the money and numbers, always was and always will be. And let's face it, nothing brings more money in the gaming world nowadays then MMORPGs.

On the flip side, I don't think that this MMORPG will suck major ass because Bioware doesn't make games that suck major ass. However, it will NOT be the KotOR we all know and love, I can practically guarantee it.

I honestly think This is just using a known name to get an audience. MMO's are for the most part crumby games that use shortcuts to get lots of money. I've played Everquest, WoW and Guild Wars and only the last wasn't a tedious experience though it still could not live up to a decent single player game. I really thin the game's likely going to be dull as anything. It's really a waste of time that could be spent on making Kotor 3 or Mass Effect 2 or even Jade Empire 2(They'd have to overhaul the battle system for this one) or even anything else.

Bioware's really been klinda dissapointing after Mass Effect. A Kotor MMO and Sonic RPG? What's happened to them?

They're also making Dragon Age, which is supposed to be a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, I believe.
