The question I impart on everyone is this - how old are you? What do you like to do? "Who is your daddeh, and wat doez he Doo?" kinda speech. I know people think I'm a little hyperactive and obnoxious at times, which is fine - but I'm really frakkin' bored at work and I pretty much don't have anything better to do when there aren't any customers around.

So I'll start off my game and get to know peoples that I'm playing with! =)

I'm Jeff, for those that don't know and I just turned 24 last Thursday. I'm engaged to a gorgeous woman, Sarah - who's pretty much the best thing to ever happen to me. So that's righteous. Lol.

As for what else I do - I'm a HUGE movie buff and ripper. I've got a 500 gb MyBook that's nearly full of every kind of movie: from the Evil Dead trilogy to the Harry Potter series, from singles like The One and Kiss of the Dragon to The Lake House and A Knight's Tale. I love all kinds of movies and I would consider myself a Cineophile.

I also do my fair share of gaming. Typically, I play CounterStrike Source, but as of recently, my graphics card is on the fritz and wont allow me to play without crashing my VPU - so I'm playing Flyff instead. It's a free-based, anime-esque, MMORPG. Based around leveling up and growing together with your friends in battles and group parties.

Uhm. Other than just chilling with Sarah, my cousin - Danielle, and my family, I'm really a homebody who works a shit-ton. D; Lol.

What about you?

This is just to get to know one another. If you don't feel comfortable talking about yourself, then you may please! Just read and enjoy other's and then talk whenever you would like to get to know them better if you share certain interests.

This topic is definitely open to conversation and getting to know your Althy friends better. Things you never knew about them - you'll soon know! More to talk about. Better for unity.

I'm a 23-year old Meijer cashier who attends the local community college. I'm a huge anime and manga buff and have logged more hours than could be considered healthy watching entire series of them. (I'm currently working on Clannad and Martian Successor Nadesico)

I do my fair share of gaming when I'm not writing or learning how to CG color lineart, and I'm a big RPG fan. I occasionally play Domo (Dream of Mirror Online), another free MMO similar, but better than, Flyff (which I liked a lot more before they changed how you level your skills). My level 20 magician knew every spell at least up to level 10 that she had available... where now that would be impossible with skill points for spells.

Not much of a shooter fan, but I play a mean medic in TF2. Turned the entire tide of a losing team with one Ubercharge.

Hi, I'm Manda. I'll be 24 in about a month. I'm currently dating a member of the site - Zook Murnig. We'll be cohabiting in a little less than three weeks, and I'll be moving from Oklahoma to Virginia. I intend to go to college next year to become a midwife, and am working on the business plan to one day open up a Lovecraftian themed bakery. Don't look at me like that. You know you want Cupcakes of the Elder Gods.

I spend about the same amount of time on the Craftster forums as I do here. I do a lot of crafting, mostly crochet and food crafting (baking!). I make artisan breads at least once every week or so, which makes me pretty proud of myself. I consider myself a good cook (but you'd be better off asking Zook, Moonlit Raven or Twisted Infinitum) and I collect cookbooks. I wrote a pattern for crocheting the Autobots (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/darthmaulnda/Scan10006.jpg) sigil and I'm using it to make blankets.

I don't watch much anime, at all. I did in high school and every once in a while I find one that I like. Cowboy Bebop and Hell Girl are my tentative favorites. Most of the television I watch is History/Discovery channels. I was a huge gamer in high school, and still enjoy playing now, but alas, game time cuts into crafting time. I play Metal Gear Solid more than any other game. Until it fucked up, I played Bully all the time, too. In fact, I've never bought a game from Rockstar Games that didn't fuck up in exactly the same way.

According to my license, I can drive any vehicle up to 80,000 lbs and I was a long haul trucker for a couple of years. I'd be trucking right now if I hadn't started dating Zook, but I forgive him. There are two CB handles I go by. "Crash" and "Betty Boom". I EARNED both of them.

I spend an inordinate amount of time watching zombie flicks. Aesthetically speaking, I can't think of a single "theme" that pleases my eyes as much as Dia de Los Muertos sugar skulls.

My favorite artists are Sylvia Ji and Ursula Vernon.

The first fantasy book I ever read was an act of rebellion. My mom mentioned in the bookstore that it looked Satanic "what with horrible dragons and all". I found the same book in the library and made a point to read it every night on the couch while she watched E.R. just to piss her off. It was an Anne McCaffrey book. From that moment on, I was hooked.

The first thing I ever wrote outside of Ayenee chat RP still exists on Fanfiction.net. I read it when I'm drunk and think it's fabulous. I'm too scared to try and look over it sober.

My dad's name is James. Everyone calls him Steve. He's a truck driver.

I'll have to check out DoMO cause I've never heard anything about it, but I have a Lvl. 73 Billposter and the skills aren't really that bad or hard to level now. Instead of spam-casting, each level you get 3 skill points and 2 skill points is a level to a skill. So a Max First Job Class Skill takes 40 points. The second class skills take 3 points, but Max at Lvl. 10. So, they changed it up a little bit - but the game has gotten a lot better since the Version 7.

n_n Good deal!

I'm Kyle, I'm 21. I'm stuck in a bad job as a Wing Zone delivery driver, only because my town Gainesville, Fl is full of idiotic UF students who are willing to work very little for very little pay... current angry issue at the moment. lol

I go to SFCC, a community college, and am almost done with a degree in Anthropology, Sociology, and Philosophy right now. Planing on majoring in Philosophy.

Other than school, my girlfriend, and work I don't do much besides get on here and look around and post as much as my fickle inspiration allows. My ex hated me writing, hence my disappearance for the last few months... she was a bitch.

Hands down.

I am a twenty year old student who works at UPS in the mornings and does landscaping during the day. I am studying to become a math teacher, but I really want to be a programmer. I've been a gamer since I was six or so and can never seem to give it up, no matter how hectic the rest of my life gets.

I am currently playing Persona 3: FES and I must say that I love it. Besides Althy and gaming, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and playing frisbee. On the personal side of things, I will likely be proposing to my lovely girl in the next few months, so that's been taking up some of my time. I'm rather excited, but that event will (of course) precipitate a chaotic period of time where nothing goes exactly as planned and everything happens all at once.

Oh, and I drive a Jeep. Oh yeah.

She's gone now, Task. Only we can hurt you now...

I'm Sean and I'm 15. I work on-the-side jobs at a garage and a gun store, just don't tell anyone. My knowledge of firearms would astound, and most probably frighten, anyone here. I go to Fairfield Prep, a high school here in Connecticut. I don't like it, but I no longer have a choice...

Hmm. I'm not currently in a relationship. People around here call me Beef (there is a legitimate reason, not some stupid muscle joke) and Duke (for the same reason they call me Beef, try that). I golf, play blackjack and poker, captain a paintball team (woods and scenario), and co-captain an airsoft team. I used to play Rugby. Australian rules are my favorite, don't know if that means anything to anyone.

I'm very strong for my age. Actually I'm just very strong in general. I don't really work out, I just... Well, I don't really know how to explain it. It just happened. Genetics I guess. I also have unbelieveably terrible vision. I'm holding out for those microchips they want to put in your retina to improve vision, that's how bad it is. I had surgery when I was two or three, and I remember all of it. Pretty cool, huh?

Now go on, ask me any gun related question. I'll bet I know the answer.

And yes, you all can call me Beef if you want...

My names Patrick I'm 24 next month and I honestly have no clue what I want to do with my life. I've done many, many things some of which would probably have you cackling at the sheer stupidity... Ready? Thought so...

I was an employee for Walden Books for the better part of a year, before I was fired because someone stole on a shift I was on, and couldn't prove anyone did it. SO I was the fall guy.

Following that I ran a Yoga Kiosk selling the mats blocks and straps. That went okay for about 3 months, before stealing at another Kiosk caused the company to clam up and jump back into Canada from whence it came.

Then I was a Coffee maker for Gloria Jeans, which was interesting, but I always considered a temp job. You meet some weird people working a coffee shop like that, but at least I can tell you the difference between a cappuccino and a mocha.

Then I worked for Games Workshop for 2 years. My job comprised of selling games that were basically model kits with rules. If you've played Dawn of War, then you know what I sell.

Currently for about a year I've been doing criminal background checks and reporting the findings to my sister. Its been interesting to say the least, and well, sometimes absurdly slow.

I'm a hardcore gamer, willing to try anything once. Ive done many crazy things, including but not limited to traveling to areas simply to partake of a tournament. (and we're talking air flight) I'm a pretty lax guy, and if I had any say in it, my motto would be "Never before Noon."

I'm Sarah (not Jeff's Sarah though), I'm 21, and I am going to school to be a school librarian. Trufax. I currently work at a day care center that takes care of kids from birth to sixth grade. It's taught me more than I have ever wanted to know about all sorts of things, from diapers to how to successfully manipulate a six year old into listening without them realizing that they are listening. It has also taught me more than I feel necessary about chasing bugs. ;_;

Been reading nonstop since I was five; mostly fantasy/science fiction, though if I find decent historical fiction based in the 1920s-1970s I am a happy duck. Like 9/tenths of the internet I am writing a book. I hope to be published someday, but am not basing my life around that hope. :) I like LOST, Heroes, Chuck, Supernatural and cheesy old adventure shows ala MacGyver and The A Team.

I wound up on Althanas after another wonderful RPsite died, dragged/herded here by/with at least five others, possibly more. I don't game other than Gameboy, except for Warcraft, which I dropped after it stopped being fun and started feeling like a job that I payed for.

...and I honestly have no clue what I want to do with my life. That makes two of us.

My name is Đuro. I live in the very asshole of the world that goes under the name of backwards Balkan country, Croatia. I make cardboard boxes for a living. Well, technically the machine makes them. I tune up the machine, feed it with paper, yell at it and at times hit it with fists, feet and anything that comes handy at the moment. Yes, I have a short fuse when it comes to machinery that doesn't do what it's supposed to do the way it's supposed to. And yes, I hate my job. I used to work as a security guard for two years. I quit after I got in a fight with my boss and after I realized that it's the kind of a job that really makes you more stupid by the day.

In my free time I tend to fiddle around with some tech stuff, mostly game-related as I like to think of myself as a gamer despite my 26 years of age. I can pretty much dismantle a computer and put it together again AND it would still actually work. RPGs are my genre of preference when it comes to games, but I play pretty much anything save platformers. I'm a huge Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid fan. I went so far to buy a PSP so I can play MGS: Portable Ops and FF: Crisis Core. And yes, I plan to purchase a PS3 because of MGS4 and FF XIII.

I enjoy movies as well. Thanks to the wonder of modern Internets, high-speed connections and torrents, I have a huge collection of movies and there are always some of the newer ones clotting my hard drive. There's just never enough space of hard disks these days.

When I venutre outdoors, I tend to play basketball. I'm not the fastest player around and I can't dribble very well, but I can shoot a mean three-pointer when I'm in the zone, I can play defense fairly well and thanks to my body mass I can often push my way to the basket. I'm also a very sore loser. Not just in basketball, but in pretty much everything. So if we battle on Althanas and I lose, you'll be my worst enemy for a while. :P

Finally a thread about my favorite subject: me!

I'm Brian, 23, born on Valentine's Day (I'm adorable). I lived in San Diego, CA for 22 years and recently completed my BS in Psychology from UC San Diego. I now live in Portland, OR working on my JD (two years left!) at Lewis and Clark School of Law.

I put myself through my undergraduate years by working as a standardized test instructor, tour guide, nutrition consultant for dogs, and sex toy demonstrator. I've since given up the latter three, and have been promoted to Regional Director of the Portland office for [large, nationwide test prep company]. My director/teacher salary doesn't quite pay for law school, but it does pay for my alcohol habit, so that's nice.

I'm currently in Amsterdam studying comparative international law for same-sex couples. I think I'd like to stay in that practice area when I graduate and work -- perhaps in the nonprofit sector -- with gay, lesbian, and transgender individuals in the realm of family law.

I'm single (newly [sort of {actually I guess it's been, like, two months already so I need to get over it}]), enjoy photography, hurt my knee in a tragic baseball accident, and hate raisins in things but like raisins. Quack.

I'm Michelle, but I usually go by Chelle. I live in Alaska and to my knowledge, I'm the only active Alaskan on Althanas. There used to be another Alaskan here, but I don't know what happened to her. *shrug* Anyway, I'll 25 next month and have terrible vision. Without my glasses/contacts, everything 3 inches or more away from my face is a lovely, nearly indecipherable blur. I'm not currently employed, but I'm working (frantically) to correct that. I live with my 'rents because my momma loves me and says that I don't have to move out if I don't want to AND because there's no way I can afford to live on my own.

I ride a motorcycle, a Honda Shadow 600 VLX. It's my baby. In the winter I drive a blue, 1994 Jeep Cherokee. It's my 4-wheel baby. lol. Other than riding my bike, I also like camping, rockclimbing, canoeing and other such outdoors stuff. I do not consider an RV or a camper on the back of a truck to be camping. Camping is in a tent, sleeping in a sleeping bag, and cooking your food over a fire/portable grill.

Other than hang around here, I have another RP forum that I play on. It's not very big and only has about half a dozen people active on it. But they're good friends and we have good fun and that's all that matters, right?

Though I like to play videogames, I don't consider myself to be much of a gamer. I played FF online for a little while until my RL got too busy to devote time to it. Currently, I'm playing Sly Cooper 3: Honor Among Thieves for the PS2. I have DS, that believe it or not, I only paid $1 for. (I won it out of the Stacker game in the mall, on the first try. w00t!).

I like dolphins and tigers and butterflies. Don't ask me why, I just do. I absolutely love roses. Everytime I get roses for something like valentines day or my birthday, i prop it so that it can dry and save them in a huge bouquet of roses that has been growing since i was like 16 years old. Oh, and I also adore Tigger.

I'm not much into TV. I rarely have time for it. When I did though, I liked things like MacGyver and Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. I like anime, but my collection is very limited. I want to own Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto. I already have Cowboy Bebop (which is awesome) Chobits, and around 30 volumes of Inuyasha + 2 Inuyasha movies.

As for relationships, I'm not currently in one. I'm not really looking either. Well, not looking past one individual at the moment. He just doesn't know I'm looking at him. *shrug*

Can't really think of anything else right now. My parents have just celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary and my younger sister is currently working as a deckhand in another part of the state on sealife cruises.

I'm Jen, and I will be 15 in september. When I'm not writing or chilling with friends, I'm watching my favorite shows(Mythbusters, Scrubs, Criss Angel's Mindfreak, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Heroes, the BBC Robin Hood series, assorted stand up comedians, etc) while making friendship bracelets. I would gladly make them for some people here, however there is that issue of a return address that I don't really want to give out. I currently have my first boyfriend, which is pretty exciting(but at the same time, I'm not sure what to do sometimes, so still figuring stuff out...)

I too have a love of movies and games. I was raised watching my siblings play Mario and Final Fantasy(s) and the Chrono series, and they helped to inspire me to start writing, so that's pretty awesome. I'm very scottish in my heritage, and there is evidence to trace me back to William Wallace(if you don't know who that is, you fail.), so I'm sorta proud of that.

Oh yeah, people are gonna kill me for this, but I play WoW. Mostly because its the only way I can keep in touch with some of my friends for portions of time, and its my family bonding time. that's right. that's how I bond with my big brother and father xD

fantasy books. I love them. Right now, I'm hooked on George R.R. Martin's a Song of Ice and Fire(in the middle of a feast for crows, so no spoilers please!). I should really read the Wheel of Time, but I'm waiting for my head to sort of mature more for that series. I am a fan of Garth Nix's Sabriel series, I thought that was well done. Tamora Pierce's three quartets also did a lot to influence how much I wanted to write. I've read a lot of shit, so just ask if you are curious about others.

so aside from writing and weaving bracelets, I do draw from time to time. But not people - i'm more of an abstract style. or doodling. whatever.

So yeah. Dat's me. Dun kill me >.<

I'm Jason. I'm 22. I'm slightly insane, or so I'm told, but in that "you're a funny guy" way, not "it's time for your pills, Mr. Chaney."

I work at the Safeway across the street. It's kind of a sucky job that I stay at because of the convenience and a few coworkers I'm friends with, that and decent pay. The rest of the people I work with are pathetic 40-50 year olds that like to roll around in Junior High style drama. It's like DeGrassi(sp?) with more wrinkles. (I wonder if anyone outside of Canada will get the reference... oh well.) I manage to avoid most of it, thankfully, by working in every possible position on night crew. I'm the second for almost everyone. So, if someone's on vacation, I'm keeping their shit from hitting the fan until they get back.

I'm married to a lovely girl named Jenn, Moonlit Raven on Althanas, whom I kidnapped from Oklahoma roughly 2 years ago. We actually met on Althanas. I think we could be the first Althanas couple to actually tie the knot. I love her dearly. She's the perfect partner for me, which is saying alot because we're both so freakin' weird.

I tried university. I really wanted to get into programming. But, stupidly, I aimed too high and flunked out of Computer Engineering. Far more than I needed for the job I wanted, but that's what I get for trying to appease the high hopes of my family. (Well, certain members of my family.) I still want to try to get back into it someday, just not on that route.

I don't drive, seeing as the mass transit here is good. Also, with my income and the way oil's going lately, owning a vehicle would mean we'd have to live in it.

We have two cats, Lenny and Bandit. They're so much like human children that we really have that family aura around here, which is good because we certainly don't do much outside of our home. Hermits indeed.

I absolutely love everything related to anime and video games, though those loves are tempered by what we can afford. Just now, we finally got Halo 3, and we're sucking as much entertainment from it as we can. I need to pick up Devil May Cry 4 as soon as I can. I've got a thing for swords in any form or media. Blunt weapons can be cool too, but only so long as they're wielded by a little girl who looks far too weak to lift them.

Seeing as our current computer is old (the comparatively spiffy laptop died of spontaneous combustion) I haven't been able to see much good anime lately. Just what comes with basic cable. Death Note just finished here. I had anime-gasms. Other than that, I liked Chobits, Grenadier, Gundam SEED, and Bleach. An odd list, but I tend to watch stuff randomly. I think the channel that typically shows anime on Friday night is switching that night over to teen-themed reality shows. I feel nauseus.

I used to read alot of fantasy novels, but I haven't had the inclination to lately. When I like a book, I rabidly devour the entire series. With that being such a time sink, I feel hesitant to start reading something new, especially when there's things I need to post in.

I sometimes do LARP (Live Action Roleplaying). Think DnD with full costume and acting (and in the case of my last game, which lasted 2 years, few numbers so as to keep it fun and fast). I haven't done any since, though I do have some character ideas. Me and Jenn will probably join one together in the future as a character pair. Oh, they shall weep at our awesomenosity x2.

I do a pseudo-webcomic kind of thing. I'll share it with Althanas when we get a proper computer and I can make new ones. All the old ones are from years ago, so I'd rather unleash some fresh stuff upon the unsuspecting populous.

And one last thing to share with everyone. It has been confirmed to me through first hand experience that marriage does indeed produce a "we" state of being. It's very much like the Flood... or Carnage. This imagery pleases us.

My name is Alex, and I'm an alcoholic.

Not actually, although I came pretty close in my second semester at University of Toronto. After a year of their humanities program, I decided that school wasn't for me. Don't get me wrong; I learned a lot. Just not in class.

Right now I'm contemplating a few school options and waiting to hear back on my application to Katimavik, a volunteer program that runs 9 months in which I'd get to travel throughout Canada.

I work for a company called Quinte Waste Solutions, helping run their hazardous waste collection programs. Mostly we collect and store paint, pharmeceuticals, cleaning products and batteries, but once in awhile someone shows up with a leaky container of sulfuric acid that burns a hole in our pavement.

I suppose you could call me a martial arts enthusiast; in the past I've practiced kyokushin karate, kung fu (wing chun and wushu), and Jeet Kune Do. Presently I train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Submission Grappling three to five times a week, and I'm starting Muay Thai classes soon.

My other hobbies are writing (obviously), jogging, and sucking at guitar. I smoke weed and drink on occasion, probably the former more than the latter. I'm also currently directing a local production of My Name is Rachel Corrie. How I'm going to pull that off (or how I got roped into it) I'm still unsure.

Oh yeah... I turned twenty in May and I live in Belleville, Ontario Canada. And I'll kick your ass in the Pagoda anytime you like.

I'm Colin, and I'm 18 and have been around althanas for far too long. Often to the point where little surprises me now and I've come to expect rape fairly often and are surprised when a newbie isn't.

I live in Massachusetts, and generally have a fairly fun life. I normally sleep anywhere from 4 to 12 hours a night, so I sometimes have a lot, or no free time to do other things. I'm a huge fan of animation, and thusly love both cartoons and anime. I hold things like Beauty and the Beast in the same regard as Spirited Away.

I play all sorts of games. Including 40k for a bit as a side thing (FOR THE GREATER GOOD!) various video games, and RPGs. I'm a big fan of the idea that video games are art, and hold men like SUDA51 in very high esteem. I try to find awesome, out of the way games, and got Mischief Makers for the N64 just today. My favorite all time game was Ogre Battle 64. My current game to get is Planescape torment.

I recently graduated from High School, and am going to Rochester Institute of Technology to study Industrial Design. I may also try to minor in Animation as well. I love drawing, and often try to do so every day. I've recently started a Sticky Note Wall, where I collect various pictures done on sticky note and collage them on my doorway. I managed to complete a College Level Art Portfolio from scratch in under 3 months. I then burnt out and barely went online after that for several months.

I have 3 geckos named Wilson, spot and Harpua. They are awesome and may know how to read. I drive a 95' Green Ford taurus I bought for 79 cents, and love to bits. I love Queen, Flobots, Johnny Cash and Beck for music. I'm a huge Comics Nerd, and my current favorite is the Mouseguard, Fall 1152.

I'm currently reading three books. Les Miserables, a book for school I don't like, and On Growth and Form by D'Arcy Thompson.

I play a mean Demomana and Medic, and favor healing classes and tactical games of all. I have beaten two different "grandmasters" (not sure if they actually were) at Chess at Harvard and won money, and am currently learning Go. I studied Latin and Greek, and am still heavily interested in both languages, though I am unable to speak either.

I currently work for a third party mover, which often involves going to houses, measuring stuff, and building crates for it on site. It's a fun job, and I learned I can pick up and walk with things my own weight if I need to.

I love explosions of all kinda, and have made many various devices to cater to this love. From Mortars, to canons, to a steampunk style pneumatic canon that almost killed three people and subsequently gave me a weeks detention t school and simultaneously an A+ on the assignment.

I have Three Major Accounts. Artifex Felicis, Maia, and another I'm still working on.

My AIM is nekobooi.

No one has yet to correctly guess the english of my screename.

The rest of the people I work with are pathetic 40-50 year olds that like to roll around in Junior High style drama. It's like DeGrassi(sp?) with more wrinkles...

*High-fives*

I actually got to watch it in my middle school years. Oh, how I miss it so...

*ahem*

Hello, name's Raven. Well, not Raven, but it's easier to say than my real name. I'm from that small country called Thailand where we got that border dispute with our neighbor over a temple on a hill. There are soldiers lined up on both sides already. *Nervous glance*

Oh, yes. I'm 22, soon to be 23 in a few months, and finishing my undergrad in Ecology at the regional University. Currently unemployed and unengaged (both for good and obvious reasons) and, technically, don't really have much of a life. (Ha.)

Anyways, I've been to America and back two times, adding up to 6 years of living on foreign lands. That's also where I got my language skills, which is sorely underused in my own country. I read a lot (Doesn't really matter what it is, be it newspaper, novels or scientific abstracts) and I also write a lot. When you're in the scientific field, they are almost second nature. For relaxation, I'm into Light Novels (Rainobe, to you who know Japanese), Manga, Science Fiction/Science Fantasy and horror stories and will pounce on them at a moment's notice. Currently hooked on Shakugan no Shana and Shinigami no Ballad, both Japanese Light Novels.

I'm an avid gamer, but I'm also very picky about what I play. So far, the ones which have me raving about are System Shock 2, Counterstrike, Diablo II LoD (still playing, too), Final Fantasy Tactics, Ace Combat series and many many more. The key similarities are the story-driven backgrounds (saved for Diablo and Counterstrike, of course) that immerse the player into the game world.

And while I can't say I'm an expert in martial arts, I know enough to get around the tougher crowd and an advocate of close-quarter combat. My build's too frail for Muay Thai, though, so you can say my leaning is towards Aikido and Krav Maga.

I'm also a member of a local Artist Group, producing artworks, comics and concept art for different people depending on their needs. Two of our members are employed as animators, and another is making his debut in the manga industry. Me? I write strip comics, concept art and trying to get my own manga off the ground. Since we're sharing, I guess I can open up a little.
My name is Roy.

I enjoy reading, everything, History, Fiction, Complex scientific theory, Law books, Medicene, both of the mind and body, technical Manuels, the dictionary, the encyclopedia, all of it. If it has words I can understand, I'm reading it.
Currently I'm reading books by H.P. Lovecraft, to help refine The Dark Man. Bear in mind The Dark Man is my own invention, but some of the concepts involved with him were covered pretty well by Mr. Lovecraft, and so if I read about them, perhaps I can make a better villain. Besides, reading about great unknowable horrors is always fascinating.

I'm currently writing a full length novel, it's a rough draft, but if I don't follow my dreams now, then when? My MSN is branninro@hotmail.com if anyone ever cares to jump on and yell at me/talk to me sometime.

I'm Andy. I'm going to be turning 23 in a couple weeks, and I live a stone's throw away from the Erie Canal, not far from Rochester, NY. I will be returning to college in the fall, majoring in Journalism. My roommate, who has plans to run for mayor of our fair village, promised me that I could be the one who asks whether or not he is gay at a press conference.

I like cats and, for some reason, have a deep-rooted interest in dark-haired girls who are slightly broken emotionally. I seem to be cursed to the point where a girlfriend will either lose interest in me or cheat on me the week after the two month mark. My love life would probably make a mighty fine cult classic dark comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe sporting an American accent.

Yes, I know I look like Harry Potter with a goatee. That's why Daniel would play me in the movie of my life.

I also like taking long walks and gazing at the stars.

Whenever I'm not being that guy in the electronics department of one of the local Wal*Marts, I enjoy playing video games. Can't say I'm terribly fond of the current generation's offering (except for my fanboy love for the Wii), so I stick to my older catalog--I own the NES, SNES, N64, PS2 (only for King of Fighters), Wii, and Xbox 360. I also have a DS, which sees a regular amount of action on my work breaks or when I'm in the bathroom.

"Dashboard" by Modest Mouse is my favorite song.

I do not like television--instead, I listen to radio drama, both old and new. Amos and Andy, Suspense (best show EVAR), The Great Gildersleeve, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Night Beat, Gunsmoke, Ethyl and Albert... All great listening. Having modest writing skills, a knack for comedy according to some, and some microphones and editing software, a few friends and myself formed a radio drama group called Omega Dragon Theatre that pushes out new material whenever we feel like it.

I'm a lefty. Be jealous.

I enjoy reading, but don't bother asking me what my favorite genre or author is. I'll give you a funny look and continue reading whatever book I happen to be reading at the time. Truth of the matter is, the only two genres I hate are romance and fantasy (like, the serious hardcore pretentious elves/dragons/magic/multi-novel quest to save the world kind of stuff).

My name is Seth, I turned 22 in May, and tomorrow I am packing my life onto a trailer and moving into a condo in Burlington, Vt. I graduated college last year with my baccalaureate degree in Computer Engineering, and currently work as a software engineer for NewsBank Inc. I get to do a lot of fun stuff with web-scraping and automated data aggregation, and since NewsBank has decided to allow me to work remotely from home, I'll get to keep doing that fun stuff!

I have a wonderful girlfriend, Sarah (popular name, eh?), who I have been with for 3 years now, and she is currently getting her life together to go back to school in August. We have several animals: 3 cats (Mitzy, Tyni, and Little), a toad (Thunder Toad), a 3 year old Betta (Darth Betta), and a hamster (Vam-Ham, as in vampire-hamster. She likes to bite).

I drive a 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad-Cab, which is super spiffy and useful. If I didn't use it so much for the things trucks are designed to do (aka haul tons of stuff), I would probably sell it. It sucks hard on gas.

In my free time I love to play games of all varieties, as well as read and watch movies. I'm a big Dawn of War and RTS guy, but I also love games of the FPS and RPG persuasion. I'm currently playing DoW: Soulstorm, World in Conflict, and Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Old favorites that I am constantly going back to are Diablo 2, Titan Quest, Rise of Nations, Final Fantasy 7 and Tactics, and Pieces for the SNES. Book wise I'm a huge fan of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire saga, but I enjoy all kinds of fantasy novels. I like to write short stories mostly, not so much longer novella-like material, and have an on again off again relationship with Althanas. I've been here longer than most realize (I was an obscure, uninteresting teen in the glory days of Althanas' legendary players), but I have a tendency to drop off the boards for year(s) or so at a time every once in a while.

This is actually the longest I've been consistently "on" Althanas without vanishing, and I'm hoping to keep the streak alive.

Sorry, Esmerelda. I play the "not so legal" version. I do have the legal copy, but the play CD snapped in half. :(

Plus, they don't import the game into my country anymore. The ones that are left have price tags that will set my budget back by three months.

[pointless brag]

I've completed Normal using a Summon Necromancer, wearing Act I and II gears, without dying even once. Now I'm off to see how he fares in Nightmare. So far, so good. ;)

LIVING CARTOON PROFILE NO.1

Name: Jose Emmanuel Jimenez-De Belen III (a very Mexican name for a Filipino)

Preferred Name: JJ De Belen

Non-work e-name: jjdebelen@hotmail.com

Why the boring e-mail?: I outgrew jj_firebrand05 and true_lightning_jeane many moons ago.

Describe:
online attention whore
desperate wannabe fashionista
damn the conservative Christian household
major gamer geek at heart (Aeris forever!)
chunky, brown and fabulous (Nafmo.)

Musicians?: Christina Aguilera, Utada Hikaru, Ayumi Hamasaki, Nobuo Uematsu, U2, Björk, Switchfoot, Vanessa Carlton, Death Cab For Cutie

Favourite album: Toss-up between Christina Aguilera’s Stripped and Utada Hikaru’s Exodus

Reason for extremely mainstream taste in music: Mainstream music is much easier to access than other music, most especially those critically-acclaimed foreign acts that no one and everyone knows about. Additionally, pop music’s attempts at smart and emotional lyrics are cheesy, but thoroughly effective. Then again, I’m so shallow that Britney Spears’ “From The Bottom of the Broken Heart” can make me tear up. Plus, isn’t all the J-Pop un-mainstream enough? You don’t hear no Asians on the radio, unless of course you’re in Japan or something.

Internet fads maintained for at least ten days: Facebook, Wordpress blogs (one barely active, four dead), a YouTube channel, a SoundClick Artist page, a closed Xanga of naïve God-praising, a closed Friendster account

Favourite games: Suikoden II (the greatest RPG in history of gaming. Thank God for PS1), Final Fantasy VIII, Shadow of the Colossus, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Tekken 3

Books?: Harry Potter series, anything Douglas Coupland, anything Miriam Toews, R.A. Salvatore’s Forgotten Realms novels, The Hobbit, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, The Gospel According to Larry

No wonder this profile template looks familiar…: Go read JPod.

Food items most likely carried: Starbucks Venti Blended Crème Vanilla Bean Frapuccino double-blended with whipped cream and chocolate powder, anything vanilla, a large taro bubble tea with extra tapioca and fruit jelly, any kind of Mega Wraps food

Does he consider himself a well-rounded human being? Absolutely. A good mix of music, literature, fashion, old and new school gaming, financial lust, personal hygiene, childhood-honed family values and Christian tidbits buried deep within my brain makes me a balanced individual. I’m shallow but also very deep, I’m like a fucking ocean. I like to think that I’m more well-rounded than everyone else, thus making me better than everyone else. I swear I am a good person. Actually… I’m a great person.

Anything other points of interest?:
Aviator glasses, preferably of the Posh ‘n’ Becks brand
A fashionable outfit (not cosplay) based on Final Fantasy VIII’s Rinoa Heartilly
Best friends
www.althanas.com/world
Free movies at AMC and garbage rummaging

I actually had this lying around somewhere. Feel free to steal the template. And to think, I signed on to post in THIS thread. Consider it an honour. :)

I'm Gina, and I approve this message. (Had to do it.)

I just turned 20 last month and, thanks to my genes, am known amongst some Althanians as Titan Tits (that means you, Cory). I am overly proud of being Greek and Italian and will probably tell you more than you want to know about it. I'm a sophomore in art school, working steadily on my Animation major and Writing minor. I draw both cartoons and realism, but my preferred things to draw are character designs, sketches, expressions, and creepy monsters.
I am really too damn obsessed with cartoons, both old and new, and I know virtually every song and line of dialogue from musical Disney movies by heart.

I'll soon be moving into an apartment with two fabulous roommates so we can play N64 games well into the night, but afterward, I'll be in school full time, and working as a cashier/floral clerk at the Kroger located conveniently across the street.
I'm also a certified service provider for an agency that works with developmentally-disabled kids, one of which includes my big brother. I drive a Ford Taurus that will most likely be dead by this time next year, but it's my baby and I'll shoot down any argument trying to tell me it's a crappy-ass car.

I play bass and acoustic guitar and sing, as well as mixing songs, and most importantly: I fucking love music. I can't listen to just a few genres - I can fall instantly in love with any kind of sound put together, so my library consists of new rock, old rock, acid rock, hard rock, cheesy pop, alternative, classical, epic soundtracks, orchestral scores, opera, remixes, mashups, Disney music, musicals, jazz, folk, rap, r&b, soul, funk, 50's, 60's, 80's, big band, swing, crooners, African music, Indian music, Greek music, Italian music, Cirque du Soleil - you name it, I got it.

I'm really into detail, whether it's in drawing or in writing, I love fantasy books but I'll pick up anything and everthing because I need four or five books to occupy myself for two days. aside from writing on Althanas, I'm writing two books, one a revisionist version of Beauty and the Beast, the other an epic, peculiar brand of fantasy because I can no longer stand the traditional girly!Elves-help-a-young-orphaned-swordsman-defeat-Lord-IKeelu-on-Doom-Mountain stories (sorry, Tolkien). I play old video games because as an art student I am naturally out of money to spare and thus can't afford new ones. I enjoy watching epic/comedy/drama/musical/scary movies, reading comics, and baiting Godhand.

Ello, I’m Jennifer. Well, most people call me Jenn. Do not call me Jenny, only Manda (usually in an ear shattering squeal) and Jas get to call me that and even they get glares. I just turned 25 a month or so ago and I hate it, for some reason I keep thinking I’m still 24. Then again, it usually takes me until May to remember it’s a new year and not the last one. I’ve been married for two years now, I married a sweet goober of the male species. He makes me laugh constantly... when he's awake.

I was married on my birthday, mostly for Jason’s sake. He has a terrible memory. Even after two years of matrimonial bliss and battles, I’m still not sure what to make of it.

I was born in Oklahoma but now I live in what I affectionately call the frozen hell, Edmonton, Canada. I kid you not, until I moved up here the most snow I’d ever seen in my life was MAYBE six inches. Here, six inches is a joke. Yes, I hate the weather, but I feel sorry for my little brother. He lives on Kodiak Island. If you don’t know where that is look it up in an atlas. =p Right now I’m a house mouse.

Being a house mouse isn’t all that bad, it keeps the stress levels down since I’m wary of most people. Like Jason said we’re hermits, which is a good thing since I’m photosensitive. I’m terrified of heights and spiders. I don’t like elevators, escalators, steep stairs and large crowds of people. Normally, I get jumpy and aggressive around large crowds.

I tend to be a morbid, mischievous and sarcastic person. Oh, and just a bit callous and condescending too at times. I tend to be an worry wort when it comes to my friends and if I like you there’s almost nothing I won’t do for you. If I don’t know or don’t like a person, I’m very polite in an almost old fashion way. After all, you never know which person will turn out to be a psycho. I also have the bad habit of assigning people nicknames that they don’t care for.

I’m an avid reader and I’ll read anything but romance and western novels. My favorite series thus far is the Riftwar Saga by Raymond E. Fiest. The first book can remember reading is a book about Clifford the Big Red-Dog way back in first grade. I have a photographic memory that often ruins my enjoyment of books. (What’s the point in reading a book I read a year ago if I still remember it almost word for word?) Despite the fact that I’m horrid at math, I love astral theory and physics theory.

I’m a huge horror movie fan, especially of the horror movies that come from eastern cultures or the old black and whites. Movies geared towards the feminine audience often bore me. The lovely-dovey stuff is often crap in my opinion. My favorite movies are A Nightmare Before Christmas and The Ghost and Mrs. Murr. TV holds limited appeal to me, unless I’m bored and sick of other forms of entertainment. I mostly watch food network, CSI and the occasional anime

I love video games, love them! I’m just not any good at them. Currently I’m obsessing my way through Legend of Dragoon. I need to finish the games I have going in FF 7, FF8, Dark Cloud 2, Harvest Moon, Kingdom Hearts 2. God of War, God of War 2 and Devil May Cry 3 are kicking my ass, much to my disappointment.

My future plans entails starting mortuary school before a rug rat or two get in the way of things. Also, I plan on turning Jason grey before his 30th birthday.

Good choice of gaming, Jenn. Although, I can't believe you're 'obsessing' about Legend of Dragoon. Dx UggggHHHHHhhH!! The graphic alone in the game and the poor camera angles and character control made me wanna slit my own wrists like an underprivileged emo kid. X_x; Lol.

FF7 is a great game - good ending. Same with Final Fantasy 8. Kingdom Heart ... just - no. MY Final Fantasy shouldn't EVER be mixed with Disney. Wtfmate.

God of War, God of War 2, and all the DMC's I've already pwned. <3 GoW was by far the best Action Adventure I've ever played. <3

Zook Murnig
07-25-08, 09:36 PM
I'm Matt, but call me Zook.

I'm 19, turning 20 in mid-August. I live in Mechanicsville, Virginia. For those who aren't in the know, that's just a little north of Richmond. I work at a grocery store called Food Lion as an Office Assistant, which basically amounts to cashiering when necessary, ordering the cashiers and baggers around and doing odd jobs the rest of the time. Also, bad pay for the amount of stress and work. I spent the last two years of my high school education getting college education in the field of Nursing, and have since passed board examination for LPN licensure. I could be making over twice what I am now, but I've yet to get a job offer in the field.

I have a year-and-a-half old daughter named Kaleigh. Some of you remember a little over a year ago when I was constantly posting pictures of the girl, and I'll post more when I have them. The mother, henceforth referred to as The Bitch, broke up with me a year ago and I have been making regular payments to her since before Kaleigh was born. She walks and talks, and is generally the cutest kid I've ever seen. And strong!

I attended VCU for three semesters as a Pre-Nursing major before poor grades related to stress and depression caused me to be forced into a break. I'll be appealing for special circumstances consideration soon, and trying to go back as early as next semester if I can get a nursing job.

I am moving in a week from my parents' house into a three bedroom apartment with two friends and my girlfriend, the aforementioned Manda. Much sexing will ensue.

Oddly, Firefox's spellcheck accepts sexing as a word, but not spellcheck.

Visla Eraclaire
07-25-08, 11:41 PM
I am Visla. I am a 22 year old socially responsible Virginian, living in the respectable south-eastern quadrant of the state with no illegitimate children. I am a summer associate at a major regional law firm, about to finish up and return to my second year of law school, where I somehow managed to be within the top 10 in a class of 220 without becoming a permanent fixture in the library.

I enjoy learning without reading from books, complex systems of rules, and storytelling (fanciful or true, preferably the latter). I also enjoy casual games of poker, watching movies in good company, and occasional tabletop roleplaying.

LIVING CARTOON PROFILE NO.1

Name: Jose Emmanuel Jimenez-De Belen III (a very Mexican name for a Filipino)

Preferred Name: JJ De Belen

Every time I see your full name it makes my day J. :) and YES JPOD!

Just for your information this is how I am dealing with my aunt's case: For Better of For Worse by Lynne Johnston - March 30th 2008 (http://www.fborfw.com/strip_fix/archives/003062.php) I remembered it when my friend sent me this exact comic to tell me exactly how she was dealing with the fact her dad was diagnosed with ALS.

My name is Amanda Lee, but I prefer Lee for the very simple reason that... THERE ARE TOO MANY AMANDA'S!

I am Canadian. Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario on the luckiest day of the year... June 13th. I'm an evil 19 year-old jobless student that speaks French. I can be nice if I want to be, but if I'm angry then I will bite your head off, spit it out and roast your body on a spit. I have this strange thing about being around people after a certain amount of time I want my space or I become extremely annoying (Explains my lack of boyfriend.... huh...).

I really am not know for anything in school except to be that one quiet sudent that doesn't get in trouble. Now that I'm in college I guess I'm opening up a bit more.

Injury record is amazing: I think I've taken out both my ankles skiing/snowboarding/playing soccer. I've had a various types of sports balls smashed into my face. I've been thrown across a dojo by a 4'7" extremely plump 12 year old and injured my back the first time; the second time he twisted my wrist until I couldn't use it for six weeks. I've had wooden boards fall onto my face, another one has been whacked into my face (How I still look normal is amazing). I've basically broken two of my toes, and because of a pair of very painful heels I have bruises across my feet.

Games List: FFVII,VIII; Legend of Zelda: OoT, TP, WW, PH; Prince of Persia: SoT, WW, TT; SSMB: Brawl; Mario Kart (ALL); Resident Evil (ALL); Fatal Frame II; Silent Hill; Okami; Fire Emblem: PoR

Movies: Jurrassic Park Trilogy, Star Wars, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, POTC Trilogy, LOTR movies, Sweeney Todd, SAW 1-3, Mulan 1+2, God of Gamblers 1-3, Van Helsing, Corpse Bride, Brothers Grimm, My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Other things: I don't know... dance? *dances and flops over to sleep.*

Melancor
07-26-08, 05:51 AM
Hey, I am Gabriel. I have a hard time remembering whether I am 15 or 16, but I believe it's the latter...

Yeah.

I was born in California to a composed, middle class, family living in the peaceful suburbs of Lake Forest. I must have had one year of age when my mom moved with me and my brother to Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico. The modest and quiet city in the one of the most rural states in Mexico, one in which both my parents where raised. My mother had always idealized her children to be raised within the Mexican culture, of modest living and old-fashioned customs. And so we where, until two years ago when me moved back to where my passport assures my home. Having worked as one of those "I work here and I send you money there"-type of family, it seemed good that the family was coming back together. Until ironically it fell appart a year after.

Heh

If I where to say I am sociable I'd be lying. Mainly because of speech impediment, I was socially stunned in my transition between both cultures. Having little means to communicate I learned to cope with not doing it at all. Now I can talk, and write, although my speech is not as eloquent as it could appear by my writing (You see, I mumble a lot). You could justify my lurking habits now, although I am logged on most of the time, and I have been here for a year, people don't know me at all.

I am a slow writer, and a confusing one too, for obvious reasons. I've only completed three quests this year, the first one being my intro thread, adding up to 50 pages of misspellings, horrid grammar, and just bad writing, mixed with the sweet verses of my favorite character (and I guess my favorite writer) Nymph&Dragon's Twyla. The other two where really levy ones, so I don't really count them.

I like talking to people, through AIM that is. Though I usually annoy people by my way of randomly greeting them and expecting them to entertain me with a silent suspense by my part. I don't really like people that walk around. They are noisy, scary, and always say things I have nothing smart to reply to. And I guess I do that a lot myself, reason why I don't open my mouth unless I have something meaningful to say, or post, for that matter.

As much as it sounds like an over-used verse, I am somewhat narcissistic. Ironically I am envious too, and like to sass people whenever I know I can get away with it without getting shot down (that means, going around trolling other 15-year old's forums or that are usually filled with people that can't even spell in their own language). Ah, and as you can see, I like creating my own drama too!

I am a self-admitted hypocrite.

I could say that the only think I am kind of good at is probably drawing, but even at that I am not as good as I would like. I still struggle to keep up with the incredibly awesome writing community that is Althanas. Thereof my future lies uncertain, as none of these are lucrative unless you are as good as the Pope to the Church.

I currently live as a parasite. having no work, or summer activities during my vacations, I spend my days playing video games, lurking boards, and starving myself. And my nights writing profiles of myself in Althanas, watching YouTube videos, anime or some shit like that.

Hmm~ let me think what to add to this thing probably only two people will actually read...

I like sea food. I play mostly Wii games, Smash Brothers Brawl is pretty much the only thing I play these days. Computer games I play are Age of Mythology, since the Sims has crashed my video card or something like that a couple times. TV? hmmm, My favorite channel must be the History Chanel, I really do like world history. Don't like the local one though, American history, ew, same goes for the Mexican.

My favorite type of food is the Chinese. I am into the sea food, but not so much into the Japanese style.

Favorite movies... Blare Witch Project? I am Legend, and some others I cant remember right now.

Books? Don't read that much, but probably "To kill a Mocking bird" or "Wuthering Heights" although that's a book for horny grandmas.

Guess this should have been at the beginning , but I am also too lazy to go back there and figure out a way to insert this in. My birthday is on February 20th, I am a pices. That's probably why I am into all of this watery-theme with my characters.

I believe in the super natural to an extent. I was raised into a Catholic household, family, city, state, nation, culture. Per say, I am not what you would call a Catholic, then again, no body is these days, so who cares? I do believe there is something above humans, don't know what it could be though. I must be an agnostic.

I guess that's about it.

I prefer Yuri myself. ;)

To each their own.

Also, much love to the Filipino Marines, JJ. That probably doesn't mean anything to you, but I like to shout out to respected friendlies when I get the chance, heh.

Yeah, I just came off a good shift at the gun store so I'm a little wired right now... Sold an AK, some pepper spray, a Winchester semiautomatic shotgun, and filled a bunch of Co2 tanks. I also got to share some paintball stories with customer and we have a bunch of people potentially coming back to buy handguns. This is like my ideal day, because I was working with just one other person, a close friend, and the boss only came down for less than an hour. Not that he isn't fun to hang out with too, but there are just certain things you get to do when the boss leaves...

Namely practice disassembling pistols, watching hilarious YouTube videos (Ghost RIDING on my MRAP! Look up MRAP on images or something, it's a really big military truck), and practice my knife skills on a cardboard box (Both my close friend and my boss practice Soyac Kali, an art of knife fighting, and I like to learn from them). All in all, not a bad day for seven hours of work and $50 in cash.

If he likes yaoi, I'm pretty sure he knows what it is. Don't be a hater.

EDIT: Although, Gabriel...you spelled your favorite movie wrong. It's the Blair Witch, honey. We need to get together and get you a better taste in movies.

Not hatin' at all, just curious if that's what he really meant. Some kids throw japanese words around like their otakus and then there's some people who use them and hope they mean what they think.

I'm up for the yuri or eechi. ;) Lol.

Irene

Alright, what's the most powerful caliber of rifle civilians are allowed to own? Also, can it be silenced, can it be equipped with a powerful scope? How many bullets can it hold?

Terminus Mortis
07-26-08, 04:44 PM
It depends on your location within the United States, your state and local gun laws, and your degree of FFL license. Class 3 would allow for high calibre and automatic weapons. If you were living in a very loose state, the highest calibre (staying within that classification) would be a .550 Nitro Express. It does more damage than a .50 BMG and is much more difficult to fire. Most rifles chambered for .550 are bolt action, single shot only because anything else would dislocate your shoulder and most likely cause serious internal hemmoraging! The .550 could, technically be suppressed, but not very effectively to the degree that it would be almost pointless to waste a silencer on it. Most bolt action rifles, including those chambered for the .550 Nitro Express could be equipped with a very powerful scope, but there is a very high risk that it could shatter from vibrations on your first shot, and I can almost guarantee it wouldn't make it past the second.

Stick with a semiautomatic .22 LR (Long Rifle). It's cheap, easily maintained and customized, fun to shoot, and ammo is readily available. Plus you won't completely smash your shoulder, and if you want more power you could upgrade to a .22 WMR (Winchester Magnum Rifle). If you need a hunting rifle than a .308 or .270 Savage is an excellent choice, and if you need more power still then .300 Magnum is available.

No. It's the second part. We can all pretend to be noble and want to learn all we can about the other members, but in the end we only want to talk about ourselves.

That way, when we're on our death beds in the distant or near future, comforted only be the light flicker of our computer screens, we can remember that our life stories will live on forever on Althanas. And then, without a tear, we will die.

And our parents will finally get their basements back.

My topic and I think the conversation and banter is acceptable and fine.

Thank you.

a) That's not how it works. If a moderator tells you to do something and you don't like it, you take it up with me. You don't ignore it and suggest that they do the footwork.

b) This is not "your" topic. You don't own it.

c) The reason we require that discussion stay reasonably on topic is twofold:

c1) When later pages no longer correspond with the title and first post of the thread, it discourages newcomers from posting on the original topic. Notice how as soon as the new conversation emerged, no one posted their mini-biographies anymore (except for a few who were desperately trying to steer the thread back)?

c2) New discussion typically takes the form of a small conversation among individuals, which inherently excludes others. Tangental discussions are best suited for PM while leaving the direction of the thread pure. A few posts responding to someone is perfectly appropriate (especially in a thread like this), but two pages of exclusionary banter are not.

Let's keep things simple from now on: when someone tells you what the rules are, you listen, and then you follow them gleefully. If you disagree, you find me and you talk to me individually. If you choose to ignore the rule even after having it explained to you (which has happened twice now), I will explore methods that force you to adhere to the rules. I'd prefer not to do that.

So why not take a little look-see at our policies, hmm? If you think a rule is silly, by all means present a cogent reason to get rid of it. Otherwise, you adhere to it. I have entertained these suggestions in the past (in fact, that's how several of the OOC rules came to be). Hell, we have an entire forum dedicated to suggestions. Make use of it.

And now the thread will return to its previously scheduled topic.

Then back on topic, I suppose - but I just don't see the harm in having YOUR member-base happily talking and conversing with one another. Advent should be one to know this - that 56k is awful for messengers and so where else would they have time to converse and chat? This is the perfect thread for such - to get to know one another.

Where is the harm in your members actually reading about one another and then discussing finer points of their similarities? Like Visla said, there's nothing wrong with it. I just don't see why this was such a huge issue.

And you talked to me yesterday - you know I'm just a defiant little bastard. ;) I always bend to the rules after I bend them a little bit, but I figured that if people like Godhand can say whatever they want that's absolutely rude and inconsiderate - then why can't I say one 'harmless' little thing that isn't negative to anyone. I wasn't rude at all to Arsene - just making an obvious point.

I'll change the opening post so that it ACCOMMODATES this recent change in the threads pace then?

Skie & Gabriel - what did you have in mind as far as educating Gabe on his movie selection? Lol. Are we talking romances like The Lake House? Or zombie flicks like Zombie Strippers? Hahahha... which was so awful, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Totally funny though.
Personally, I try and keep an open mind about movies.

Red Vs Blue - Season 1 - is hysterical.
In the Name of the King - was awful. Poor Statham.
Seeing other People - was humorous, but abhorrent.
Definitely, Maybe - was really good; I thought it would be lame.
Batman: The Dark Knight - need I say more? It was beautiful.
Wall-E - was awesome. <3
Get Smart - was great! So funny.
Wanted - was pretty good. Cool graphics and concepts.
Mama Mia - was actually better than I expected. Fun movie. The singing gets you involved.

These are just some recent ones among the vast 140 GB I have on my hard drive. What movies are you thinking? Howl's Moving Castle? Miyazaki = God.

Winterhair
07-27-08, 08:27 AM
Guess I'll tell a bit more about myself to keep this thread on track.

I don't get out much. My favorite movie of all time has to be the 300; I own it, watch it at least thrice a week, have masturbated and have had sex to it (and no, not to the sex scene either), have almost learned every line in the damn thing and if you asked me to, could probably copy Leonidus's little solo in the first fight where he goes ahead of every one and royally kicks ass. Gimme a spear and shield and lemme go at it.

Second in line comes Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Even though, frankly, I was hoping for a bit more to the story, the action made up for it in spadefolds. Yes, I know thats not a real word. I would have to say that its action comes close to matching that of the 300, but even so if you asked me I still like ol' Leonidus better.

As for other movies, well, I'm your typical action nerd/geek. The Matrix Trilogy, Hellboy (II mostly...I was disappointed in the first), old martial arts films, The One, blahbittyblah. The animes that I do like and watch consist of Helsing, Elfin Lied, Miyazaki's stuffage in general, and Claymore. Bleach and Naruto kind of ruined anime for me. And before you start calling me a hypocrite, saying I based my character off of Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach, don't get me wrong; I think he's fuckin' awesome. If they showcased him more instead of having a bit part in the story, I'd watch it, but as it is I generally don't like the anime. Hearing "BANKAI!" over and over again while characters scream out their attacks is kinda annoying.

Manga is a different story. Anime's often get ruined by english voices so much that its like meeting a five hundred pound chick for the first time--auto turn off. (When they get THAT fat, even their personality is a big blog of naught.) When it comes to manga, I fairly like Bleach better, but I still say that having the same shit repeat itself gets old. Before it hit anime, I used to really be into Naruto. Like, those fangirl-obssesive types. "OMG SASUKE! <3" eeeYep. Trust me, the manga is ten times better than the anime; there are no "bettah believe it!" anywhere, and its alot more gory. It starts off all innocent enough, like elfin lied, then BAM! "Oh yeah, my brother slaughtered my ENTIRE VILLAGE." There was just something badass about that.

So yeah, once things start hitting mainstream audiences I start to lose interest, unless its shit like Hellsing. I mean, Alucard ownz you all. Up the ass and around the corner to play on the emo piano of your soul.

Next up on the telling of mah lyfe: dating and why it blows. (Literally.)

I find it extremely gratifying that while I was sleeping, someone else decided to take up the banner of my argument and get slammed for it instead of me. Cheers.

You know, Bloody Son is the second person in less than a week to tell me that Definitely, Maybe is a good movie. I might actually watch it, even though it's not the sort of thing I'm usually in to.

I watched a movie a week or so ago called Horrors of War. It was this low budget thing that my friend said he had wanted to see every time he saw it in the video store. Two words: Nazi Zombies. Oh, and there are also werewolves, but they're on our side. That's all you need to know to see it. The writing was actually surprisingly good for an indie film. It's just a shame they didn't have the money or the will to make it more ridiculous. Once you have Nazi Zombies, you really need to go the whole nine yards.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Dude, Bruce. I laughed. I lol'd a lot at your posting. You crack me up, often. The whole fat-chick bit is rude, but O, so funny. n_x

And Zombie Nazi = Nuff Said.
I'm on it! Lol.
And Definitely, Maybe is a chick flick with a little bit of good, old fashion sex humor. Essentially, it's a guy retelling the story of how he met his wife - but throws some of his flings into the storytelling.

Not to mention I love love love the little girl that plays his daughter - same little girl from Little Miss Sunshine. <3

Much as you may want this to be a conversational thread, BS, most people don't want to read through 2-3 pages of conversation between other people before posting. Conversation beyond, "Cool, you like that movie too? Catch me on AIM and let's talk" is really aggravating (and boring) to have to sift through.

At any rate...in an effort to try to steer this back to being mini-bios...

Let's see I've already mentioned my age... I'm relatively short (only 61 inches) and have dark blond hair that reaches just past the tops of my shoulders. When I was a baby though, it was naturally white blond. I'm not skinny by any means, but neither am I truly fat. I just have a little extra padding in a few places ;)

As for movies, I like a variety of things. The exception being horror flicks/thrillers. I'm totally NOT into things like "The Grudge" or any of the Final Destination movies and giant animals like in the Jurassic Park movies and "Eight-legged Freaks". "Eight-legged Freaks" gave me nightmares the night I watched it, though that might be mostly due to my arachnaphobia. The only use I have for thriller movies is hiding my face in the shoulder of a cute guy, which I don't have ready access to right now >.< Mystery and documentary-ish movies typically bore me, so I tend to avoid those.

I like a mix of action, romance, and comedy the best. I love Disney. I still love the classic Disney movies like Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, though my top favorite is Aladdin. (yes, I admit it, Jasmine is based in appearance and partial history off of Disney's Aladdin's Jasmine). I liked "200". That was simply awesome. I liked "I am Legend" as well. Whether or not I like science fiction is based entirely on the movie itself. If it looks good, I'll give it chance, if not..then oh well.

I also LOVE reading. I have a lot of books. I have the Wheel of Time series, a good read, but one that will take a good chunk of your time. David Eddings is a good author and so far, I've liked everything of his that I've picked up. I like Brian Jacques' Redwall series, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the Harry Potter books. I have two new favorites authors. The first is Janine Cross, author of: "Touched by Venom" and "Shadowed by Wings". Her next book is "Forged by Fire" and I've been told it comes out this August. I can hardly wait! The second new favorite is RA Salvatore. I'm working on collecting all the Drizzt books. So far I have "Homeland", "Exile", "The Crystal Shard" and the Hunter's Blade trilogy. I want more Drizzt books! Unfortunately, it looks as though I'll have to order them online or at the bookstore :(

I think that should satisfy for now... if I think of anything else, I'll be back :P

Let's see here, seems I've been down this road before...

My name is Bob. I'm 28. I'm happily married and purchased a house this year. No kids yet, but maybe around spring next year we pull the goalie and start trying. I also recently took a new job, a pretty big risk/reward situation where I moved from an R&D group leader to a sales specialist. It's gone well so far, but given the economic climate I'm still walking on eggshells.

It was a career move I chose to transition faster from engineering to management. I wanted to get some commercial experience to bridge the gaps in my workforce skills, and so far so good. I'm also going to school at nights for my MBA. All of these things somehow keep me between "very" and "obscenely" busy.

When I -do- get some free time, I tend to abuse it. I like to run every morning to get the day going, and although I'm not as quick as I was a few years ago I'm still pretty well conditioned. I'd like to get back into lifting as well, but that probably isn't going to happen.

I love sports; I'm a huge Boston area sports fan, so the Red Sox / Patriots / Celtics have been great to watch lately. I played football through college; great times!

I love movies, and the wife and I routinely abuse Netflix to entertain us on nights that I am ready to pass the f* out.

Music is not a big part of my life, but I listen to an eclectic blend of classic rock, modern day rock, and sprinkles of rap.

I don't really play any video games anymore. I play Runescape (because it's mindless), but only really when I can do it alongside working on something else. I'll occasionally pop in an old version of Madden football or something. I used to play a billion RPGs, but they just don't really pull me anymore.

And of course, I've spent a bit of time here, and while those hours have become more and more scarce, for me they are more and more treasured.

Until this very moment, I never heard of Redwall.

And now, more about me.

I suffered a double fractured skull when I was a year old. Appearently it was cause enough to remove me from my mother's home. My grandmother rescued me though, and after a few months, was allowed to live with my mother again. How did this happen you ask? No one seems to know, I just "magically" suffered a double skull fracture, because as everyone knows it's perfectly normal for children to suffer such serious injuries. Oh well, I guess such knowledge isn't needful.

Althy related: I'm writing in Microsoft word, a massive quest featuring My six characters. It's probably going to be about 600 posts long. I'm not joking either.
It's the first major thread in my character's stories, revolving around an extra-dimensional super entity known as The Dark Man.
