View Full Version : Let's kill some stuff
So I obviously can't stay away from this place, so instead of being around but not being around, I'll try to dust off my keyboard and write with hope that my muse will notice my effort and return to me. So until she does, you'll have to suffer the crappiness of my writing. Or not if you're not in a quest with me. And speaking of quests, I have a lame idea for one. Well, a really general idea. Probably not a very good one, but anyways.
The protagonists find themselves on a ship sailing to wherever. A storm hits, but they survive it. However, it tosses the ship out of course and they wind up in sort of a misty fog crap and they get attacked by... something. I was thinking something alongside wraiths or some other undead creature. Anyways, they attack, kill most of the crew and ship runs aground on a very creepy island filled with zombies or some similar shit. So we kill a lot of crap, go through the island, uncover its mysteries, save the cheerleader, save the world, get the phat lewt and get home in time for dinner.
Yes, it's not a very fleshed out idea, but I'd like to keep it that way and just have fun and play it by ear. Of course, whoever joins gets to implement their own ideas as long as it doesn't get us all killed.
That's pretty much it as far as the story goes. I can't promise very good posts on my end at this point, so whoever doesn't mind that and the fact that I probably won't be able to post every day is welcome to join. There are no prerequisites as long as you're willing to see it through the end. Redheads and other chicks are encouraged to join, of course, and are more likely to get in on the action. ;)
I'll start this thing up tomorrow if there's interest.

I am bringing a nerdy albeit sexy wildlife biologist character to the site who uses a pair of anelace as her sole weaponry. When she gets accepted, do you think she could tag along, perhaps?

We could use two chicks, but three would be too many since that would make five party members and that's a bit too much. Although, I can't help saying, a seven foot chick is probably quite a scary sight. O_o

Also, if anybody has any ideas now or during the course of the quest, just post them here and we'll see what we can do about implementing them.
Well, I'm starting a story arc involving my characters and a beyond god-like extra dimensional force of destruction presently known as The Consuming Darkness/The Dark Man. He's out to destroy all things, but that's besides the point.
He has extra-dimensional pockets of strange areas all over Althy. Infact, he has a lost island that sometimes randomly appears. The island we encounter could be his island.
Don't worry about the size I think of it in, Dark Man's known for warping and distorting reality. An inch can become a mile, as easily as a mile can become an inch.
You know your entering his territory by a massive droneing noise, almost like swarms of many many flies buzzing about.
In fact, I'm willing to offer up as much of The Dark Man and his minions/treasures as you need.
He does have all sorts of interesting treasures...
Edit: I'm working up a post, but it prolly won't be up until last. Gives me a chance to see what we do and write accordingly.
We could run with that idea, sure. However, I really don't want to complicate this too much as I'm too rusty for complicated stuff right now. Let's just say that it's one of the Dark Man's islands, but he's not home and he left his pets to play with the intruders. Irene can have some inside info on it, but only once we are already shipwrecked and get to see our new surroundings. Sounds good?
Sounds good. Just remember then, when we go into the storm, there'll be a buzzing drone in the backround. Like millions of flies. As an axample, listen to the beginning 40 seconds of this youtube vid:

It's like that, only more backroundish, I'm not sure how else to explain it. Like it's there, but beneath the other sounds. It's definatly not missable. You will notice it, because it's so unnatural, but not overly so. After the buzzing passes, the Brotherhood attacks.
Shall I purposely post last then to initiate the attack on the ship?
Also, any details you would like about The isle or it's contents and treasures?

Then when things calm down and we think we're out of the woods, the buzzing starts and we enter into the foggy area and then the attack happens.
As for the details, I'm not sure and I think it's best that we don't plan too far ahead. This was supposed to be a random, spur-of-the-moment, let's-have-fun-killing-stuff quest. So let's have fun by winging it.

Too many people make for a slow going quest and that won't help me get back into the writing rhythm.

I figured it being monday, there would be more posts.The first post was meant to be an introductory post for everybody anyways, so you didn't have to wait. Besides, we need to go through to storm first and then we'd get attacked, so if you're waiting for that, you're bound to wait a couple of posts more.

Now, I just wanna know the basic plan, this round deals with the storm, it passes and the next round is the fog and attack, or did I get things wrong?
Yeah, you got it right. The next round of posts should deal with the storm, and then when the storm dies down and we think we're in the clear (aalthough thrown out of course), we wander into the fog and get attacked.
Also, I had an idea about something later on in a quest. I was thinking that the storm could break the ship's masts, so when we run aground, we'll have to explore the island in order to find trees that could be used. So when we finally find the trees, we meet a bunch of nymphs that protect the trees that we need. So we can't just chop them down or we'd be killing the nymphs. However, the nymphs tell us that the proprietor of the island keeps them trapped because they're linked to their trees, so they send us on an errand to get them the <enter some weird thingy that would allow them to move away from the trees>. So we get that thingy, but when we return it to the lovely nymphs, they turn out to be not so lovely and turn into their original form that will probably be something hideous and out to kill us. So we chop down some trees, kill some succubus or whatever they turn out to be, and then run for our lives.
I have this awesome scene in the head where Letho swings this huge tree trunk around like a bat, knocking stuff around. And then gets tired after three swings. ;)
Coincidentally, that's pretty much how The Dark Man would distort the Nymph tree relation, by making them each a succubus. You've got a pretty good handle on Dark Man's isle.
I've got a good handle on things that walk around with bare boobs, evil or not. ;)
Okay, given the super-duper-mega-fast pace of this thread, I'm going to do what I did to my other super-duper-mega-fast thread and ask people to post out of order this time around in hope that we start moving past the introductions.
Whatever happened to the time when people used to want to write with me? ;)
